Chapter 2661: Story 2662: The Awakening Below
The kingdom screamed.
Crimson light erupted beneath Kael’s feet, and the stone floor split apart.
Kael staggered backward.
“What is beneath us?”
The warrior with silver hair stared at the opening.
“The beginning.”
It was larger than a mountain.
Lena grabbed Kael’s arm.
“That thing is looking at you.”
Kael raised his sword.
The eye blinked.
Every ancient symbol around them ignited.
Azael suddenly collapsed.
“Azrael...”
Kael rushed toward him.
Azael’s body trembled.
“I remember.”
“What?”
“The first time we fought.”
Kael froze.
“We fought?”
Azael looked at him.
“Not as brothers.”
The sixth child stepped closer.
“I remember too.”
The fifth child spread his black wings.
“Then tell us.”
The sixth child pointed toward the opening.
“We were brought here before the kingdoms existed.”
“The First Soul.”
The seventh mark on Kael’s chest burned.
A voice rose from beneath the floor.
“AZRAEL.”
“YOU HAVE RETURNED.”
The crimson eye opened wider.
Suddenly, thousands of ancient figures appeared around the kingdom.
They wore broken armor.
Their faces were hidden.
All of them dropped to their knees.
Lena whispered,
“They are bowing.”
“To whom?”
Kael looked around.
Then every warrior pointed toward him.
“Not me.”
The silver-haired warrior shook his head.
“They remember you.”
Kael’s sword began glowing.
The blade changed.
Ancient symbols crawled across its surface.
Azael stood again.
“My blood is answering yours.”
Elias stepped forward.
His golden veins connected with Kael’s mark.
Lena’s red symbol followed.
The fifth and sixth children joined them.
Six lights became one.
The kingdom shook violently.
Then the eye beneath them began rising.
Stone exploded upward.
A colossal head emerged.
It had no mouth.
No nose.
Only a single crimson eye.
The warrior fell to his knees.
“The First Soul.”
Kael stared at the enormous being.
“You said the First Soul was us.”
The warrior looked frightened.
“It is both.”
“What does that mean?”
“It means you are fragments.”
The creature opened its eye completely.
A voice entered every mind.
“RETURN.”
Kael raised his sword.
“No.”
The creature stopped.
Kael stepped forward.
“We will not become your weapon.”
The eye burned brighter.
“YOU WERE NEVER WEAPONS.”
A silence followed.
“You were my children.”
Lena’s eyes widened.
Azael whispered,
“Then why were we divided?”
The First Soul answered.
“Because something was coming.”
The sixth child suddenly screamed.
Black markings spread across his face.
“The thing without a beginning...”
The First Soul’s eye turned toward him.
For the first time, it appeared afraid.
“Yes.”
Kael tightened his grip.
“What is it?”
The answer came softly.
“The one that existed before me.”
The entire kingdom went dark.
Then a white eye opened in the darkness above them.
The same eye Kael had seen in his vision.
A cold voice whispered,
“First Soul...”
The colossal being looked upward.
The ancient warriors began trembling.
The white eye widened.
“I have finally found you.”
Kael stepped beside his brothers and sisters.
The darkness descended.
And beneath the kingdom, the First Soul began to awaken.
