Chapter 2645: Story 2646: The Black Sun

The ancient warriors rose together.

Millions of blades lifted toward the shattered sky as the black sun trembled above them.

Kael stared upward.

“What is behind it?”

The six-eyed warrior slowly turned toward him.

“Everything that was buried.”

The black sun cracked again.

A red line spread across its surface, widening like an enormous wound. Something moved beyond the darkness.

Then a voice thundered across the dead world.

“AZRAEL.”

Kael’s blood froze.

Lena grabbed his arm.

“That voice...”

“I know,” Kael whispered.

Elias stepped beside them.

“It sounds like him.”

Kael looked at his brother.

“Father?”

Elias shook his head.

“No. Something older.”

The forgotten king suddenly raised his staff.

“Everyone, kneel!”

The ancient warriors obeyed instantly.

Seraphine stared at the king.

“You know what is coming.”

The king’s expression hardened.

“I remember.”

Adrian moved closer.

“Then tell us.”

The king looked toward the black sun.

“Before the first kingdom existed, there was a war between two powers. One ruled blood. The other ruled darkness.”

Mara tightened her crossbow.

“And who won?”

The king slowly shook his head.

“Neither.”

A massive shadow appeared behind the cracked sun.

The ancient warriors began trembling.

Even the six-eyed first enemy lowered its weapons.

Kael raised his sword.

“Show yourself!”

The shadow moved.

A gigantic face appeared beyond the broken sun, its features formed from darkness and crimson fire.

Two enormous eyes opened.

The entire dead civilization screamed.

Lena suddenly collapsed.

Kael caught her.

Her eyes turned completely black.

“Lena!”

She looked at him, but her voice was no longer hers.

“Azrael...”

Kael froze.

The voice continued through her.

“You should never have remembered.”

Elias stepped backward.

“What are you?”

Lena smiled.

“I am the one who watched you being born.”

The forgotten king whispered, “The Witness.”

The entity laughed through Lena.

“I watched the King Before Kings create the blood children.”

Kael’s grip tightened.

“You said he started the war.”

“He did.”

“Why?”

Silence.

Then the entity answered.

“Because he feared what you would become.”

Kael felt something tear open inside his memory.

He saw himself as an infant beneath a crimson sky.

The King Before Kings stood above him.

But beside the ancient king was another figure.

A woman made entirely of shadow.

She held a black blade.

The King Before Kings looked afraid.

He whispered one word.

“Azrael.”

The memory shattered.

Kael fell to his knees.

The first shadow appeared behind him.

“Now you understand.”

Kael slowly stood.

“No.”

His sword blazed crimson.

“I understand enough.”

The black sun split apart.

A gigantic army emerged from the darkness, carrying weapons unlike anything the survivors had ever seen.

Isabella raised her spear.

“Everyone prepare!”

The ancient warriors charged.

Mara fired.

Ethan opened fire.

The dead army roared.

And above them, the shadow woman stepped through the broken sun.

She looked directly at Kael.

“My son.”

Kael’s face went pale.

Lena whispered, “Mother...”

The woman smiled.

“Come home, Azrael.”

Then the entire sky turned black above the battlefield.
