Chapter 2644: Story 2645: The War Before History
The second heartbeat shook the dead world.
BOOM.
Kael stumbled as the black ground rose beneath his feet. Cracks raced across the plain, glowing with crimson light.
“What is happening?”
The forgotten king remained motionless.
“The kingdom is waking.”
Behind Kael, Elias stared at the enormous figure wearing his brother’s face.
It smiled.
“You finally came back, Azrael.”
Kael raised his sword.
“Who are you?”
The creature tilted its head.
“I am what was left behind when you were born.”
Lena stepped forward.
“You are not Kael.”
“No.”
The creature’s smile widened.
“I am his first shadow.”
Suddenly, thousands of ancient warriors began moving.
Armor scraped against stone.
Swords were lifted.
Banners rose beneath the black sun.
Every warrior turned toward Kael.
Then they dropped to one knee.
The forgotten king whispered, “They remember their creator.”
Kael’s heart hammered.
“I never created them.”
The king looked toward the dead horizon.
“You did not create them with your hands.”
A tremor passed through the kingdom.
“You created them with your blood.”
Kael looked at Lena and Elias.
Their symbols burned brightly.
K-26.
K-27.
K-28.
Then the symbol AZRAEL appeared above Kael.
The ancient warriors bowed lower.
A distant horn sounded.
Another answered.
Then another.
The entire dead civilization began awakening.
Mara’s voice suddenly echoed from behind the ancient doors.
“Kael!”
He turned.
Mara, Ethan, Adrian, Isabella, Seraphine, and the surviving soldiers of the Last March emerged from a glowing doorway.
Kael stared in disbelief.
“How did you get here?”
Adrian looked terrified.
“We followed the blood.”
Isabella raised her spear.
“What is this place?”
Seraphine stepped forward, her face pale.
“This is not a kingdom.”
She looked at the ancient warriors.
“It is the army that existed before kingdoms.”
A roar exploded across the horizon.
Something enormous moved beneath the dead city.
Buildings collapsed.
Ancient towers broke apart.
Then a gigantic hand emerged from the earth.
The forgotten king finally looked afraid.
“No.”
Kael tightened his grip.
“What is it?”
The king answered quietly.
“The first enemy.”
The hand tore through the ground.
A colossal warrior rose from beneath the civilization, wearing armor made from black bones. Six crimson eyes opened across its face.
Every ancient soldier bowed.
Even the forgotten king lowered his head.
The creature spoke.
“AZRAEL.”
Kael felt his sword vibrating.
The blade changed.
Crimson light spread across its edge.
The creature continued.
“You were born to end the war.”
Kael stepped forward.
“Then tell me who started it.”
The creature smiled.
“Your father.”
Lena froze.
“Sleeping King?”
“No.”
The creature pointed toward the black sun.
“The King Before Kings.”
Silence consumed the battlefield.
Kael’s blood burned violently.
Behind him, Elias whispered, “Brother... we were never meant to inherit this world.”
Kael looked at the millions of awakened warriors.
“No.”
He raised his sword.
“We were meant to decide its fate.”
The black sun suddenly cracked.
Something screamed beyond it.
And every ancient warrior rose at once, ready for the war.
