Chapter 2546: Story 2547: The Living Dawn

  • Next Chapter

Golden sunrise spread across every world.

Its radiance pierced the endless storm above Blackstone Ridge, dissolving centuries of darkness in moments. Rivers of light flowed through the heavens, reaching distant kingdoms, forgotten ruins, frozen oceans, and lands no human had ever seen.

Victoria Kane floated before the Balance Gate.

The Crown of the Black Star no longer rested upon her head.

It had become part of her.

Golden light pulsed from her heart, spreading through every breath she took. Her armor transformed into shining white-and-gold plates engraved with symbols of the First Dawn. Behind her, six radiant wings unfolded, each feather woven from living light.

The Dawnblade hovered before her.

No longer merely a weapon, it had become a star forged into the shape of a sword.

Arkanis bowed his head.

"The Keeper has awakened."

The Seven Guardians followed.

Even Kaelor knelt, tears of liquid gold falling from his ancient eyes.

"We welcome you..."

"...Living Dawn."

Victoria looked at them with gentle humility.

"I’m still Victoria."

"And I always will be."

Far above, Nox’Rath’s endless form twisted violently.

Thousands of crimson eyes burned with fury.

"You cannot become what was lost!"

The Endless Shadow surged forward.

Its colossal tendrils swallowed mountains, devoured clouds, and reached toward Victoria with unimaginable speed.

Before anyone else could react, Victoria simply extended one hand.

A single ray of golden light left her fingertips.

It touched the first shadow.

Instead of exploding...

The darkness became transparent.

Then it dissolved into countless glowing stars.

Nox’Rath recoiled.

"Impossible!"

"You destroyed my essence!"

Victoria shook her head.

"I destroyed nothing."

"I reminded it where it came from."

The remaining tendrils hesitated.

One after another, they abandoned their attack and drifted toward the Living Dawn, changing from black to silver as they entered her light.

Dr. Evelyn Brooks watched in amazement.

"The darkness..."

"It isn’t dying."

"It’s being healed."

Father Gabriel smiled.

"Just as every wounded soul hopes to be."

But Nox’Rath refused redemption.

Its endless body condensed into a single towering figure cloaked in living night.

The countless crimson eyes merged into two blazing crimson suns.

For the first time...

The Endless Shadow possessed a face.

A calm face.

A sorrowful one.

"I once carried light too," Nox’Rath said quietly.

"Before I learned that creation always ends."

Silence settled over the battlefield.

Victoria lowered the Dawnblade.

"So you’re afraid."

Nox’Rath stared at her.

"I have watched stars die."

"I have watched worlds forget."

"I became darkness because nothing lasts."

Victoria smiled gently.

"You’re wrong."

She pointed toward Blackstone Ridge.

Cole stood beside Lucas.

Selene helped wounded soldiers to their feet.

Roland fought alongside Gideon.

Dr. Evelyn protected Elias Crow’s journal while Father Gabriel comforted frightened survivors.

"They’ll all die someday."

"So will I."

"But what they give each other..."

"...doesn’t."

The Balance Gate behind Victoria burst into radiant life.

Countless visions appeared within it.

Children laughing.

Families reunited.

Heroes sacrificing themselves for strangers.

Hope passed from one generation to another.

The light was never eternal because people lived forever.

It was eternal because someone always chose to carry it forward.

Nox’Rath watched the visions in silence.

Its crimson eyes slowly dimmed.

For the first time since before creation...

A single tear of black crystal fell from its face.

"I..."

"...had forgotten."

The Endless Shadow dropped to one knee before the Living Dawn.

Across every world, the darkness stopped advancing.

The stars returned to the heavens.

Arkanis looked toward Victoria with quiet reverence.

"The war is ending."

Victoria gazed at the kneeling shadow.

"No."

She smiled as dawn illuminated the horizon.

"The war has ended."

"Now..."

"...we begin healing the worlds."

As the first true sunrise since the dawn of creation bathed Blackstone Ridge in golden light, every soul present understood that history had not witnessed the end of an age.

It had witnessed the beginning of hope itself.
