Chapter 2545: Story 2546: The Gates of Creation and Oblivion

  • Next Chapter

The white gate rose from the depths like a newborn star.

Its towering surface shimmered with rivers of living light, illuminating Blackstone Ridge with a radiance untouched by time. Ancient symbols drifted across its shining pillars, forming constellations that no mortal sky had ever known.

Across from it stood the black gate.

Cold.

Silent.

Endless.

The two colossal gateways faced one another like opposing destinies awaiting a single choice.

Victoria Kane stood between them.

The Crown of the Black Star burned brighter than the rising sun, while countless streams of golden light spiraled around her.

The battlefield fell completely still.

Even Nox’Rath watched without moving.

Its countless crimson eyes reflected both gates.

For the first time, the Endless Shadow showed no confidence.

Only anticipation.

"Choose..."

"...Keeper of the First Dawn."

The title echoed across creation.

Behind Victoria, the Seven Guardians struggled as the Circle of First Light continued draining their strength.

Silver cracks spread across Arkanis’s ancient stone body.

Kaelor dropped to one knee, breathing heavily as fragments of darkness continued leaving his soul.

"The prison..." Kaelor whispered.

"It feeds on us."

The Last Sentinel remained beside the fading Eternal Flame.

Each strike of his hammer restored another heartbeat of light.

Yet his glowing armor continued breaking apart.

Cole Mercer looked toward Victoria.

"Whatever you’re thinking..."

"...we’re with you."

Lucas Reed nodded.

"You’ve never led us wrong."

Commander Selene Voss raised her radiant swords.

"We stand until the end."

Father Gabriel smiled peacefully.

"Light has never belonged to one soul."

"It belongs to every soul willing to carry it."

Victoria closed her eyes.

The thirteen mysterious voices returned.

This time they spoke as one.

"Do not choose a gate..."

"...choose a path."

She frowned.

"A path?"

Suddenly, the vision returned.

She once again stood before the empty throne of the Keeper.

But this time she noticed something she had missed before.

The throne was not facing either gate.

It stood exactly between them.

Understanding filled her heart.

She opened her eyes.

"There were never two destinies."

"There was only one."

Nox’Rath’s countless eyes narrowed.

"What have you seen?"

Victoria slowly raised both hands.

Instead of reaching toward either gate...

She pointed the Dawnblade at the empty space between them.

The Crown answered instantly.

Its thirteen jewels released thirteen pillars of golden light.

The Seven Guardians lifted their ancient hands.

Silver radiance joined the Crown.

Far below, the Eternal Flame answered with one final surge of brilliant fire.

The three lights met together.

Space itself trembled.

Between the black gate and the white gate...

A third doorway appeared.

It was neither light nor darkness.

It shimmered with every color ever born.

Arkanis gasped.

"The Balance Gate..."

"It still exists."

Dr. Evelyn hurriedly searched Elias Crow’s journal.

New words appeared upon the final page.

She read aloud.

"Creation cannot exist without shadow. Shadow cannot exist without light. The Keeper’s duty is not to destroy either, but to keep both in harmony."

Nox’Rath roared.

For the first time, genuine fear filled its voice.

"NO!"

"THAT PATH WAS ERASED!"

Shadow tendrils exploded across the heavens, racing toward the newborn gate.

Kaelor rose despite his exhaustion.

"We protect the Keeper!"

The restored Guardians stepped forward together.

Silver shields of ancient power formed around Victoria.

Cole, Lucas, Selene, Roland, Father Gabriel, Gideon, Dr. Evelyn, and every surviving defender raised their awakened weapons beside them.

Humanity and the First Guardians stood as one.

Victoria walked toward the newly born gate.

Every step caused flowers of golden crystal to bloom beneath her feet.

The Crown slowly lifted from her head and floated into the air.

Its light surrounded the empty throne within the vision.

Then the ancient voices spoke one final truth.

"The Keeper does not inherit the First Dawn."

"The Keeper becomes it."

As Victoria reached out toward the radiant gateway, the Crown dissolved into pure light and entered her heart.

At that exact moment, the skies across every world lit with the same golden sunrise.

And Nox’Rath screamed...

Because the age of borrowed light had ended.

The age of the Living Dawn had begun.
