Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard
Chapter 1231: Rumors Abound, the Rift Between Brothers (Part 3)
In response, Kael didn’t offer an explanation; he just found it a bit amusing.
Perhaps the truth could be as they said, after all, Kendra was dead, and no one knew her true thoughts.
But in a sense, Kendra also saved their lives.
If it weren’t for her insistence that Arianna stay at home, when the Obscurus erupted, not one person here would have survived.
Kael suddenly felt a bit dispirited, and the drink in his cup lost its flavor. He stood up and left the noisy bar.
He first arrived at a hillside near the church, where he could just see the direction of the cemetery.
Most people had left, leaving only a few behind, those who seemed to have some connection to the Dumbledore family.
Abeforth and young Dumbledore hadn’t left yet, but there remained a distance between them, like an insurmountable chasm.
Kael wanted to confirm the situation, but with his status, he couldn’t do anything even if he went over.
“Let’s wait a bit,” Kael turned and left the hillside, returning to Godric’s Hollow to wander aimlessly through the streets.
Before he knew it, he found himself near Bathilda Bagshot’s home once again.
It’s worth mentioning that along the way he hadn’t seen Grindelwald, neither near the church nor elsewhere; it seemed he had left Godric’s Hollow the day before.
Bathilda was sitting in the garden, staring blankly at the Dumbledore household in the distance, not even noticing Kael nearby.
Seeing this, Kael didn’t disturb her and headed straight to the barn.
If Dumbledore had already escaped, he would likely come here.
Unfortunately, when Kael pushed the door open, he didn’t find him inside.
…
Late at night, as the lights seen through the windows gradually extinguished, Godric’s Hollow fell into silence.
In the moonlight, a figure quickly made its way along the path towards the church.
This person was naturally Kael, who had waited all afternoon for Dumbledore but, seeing no change, had to go look by himself.
But what he didn’t expect was to find someone still in the cemetery.
It was the young Dumbledore, still standing in the same spot, seemingly unmoving all along.
Kael looked at him, then at the tombstone, and raised his wand.
What he was about to do wouldn’t likely get the other’s permission, so he first had to take care of this trouble.
In his current state, Kael was fully confident he could take him down in an instant.
“Stupefy!”
A beam of red light shot through.
As Kael expected, the unaware Dumbledore was hit directly, his legs giving way as he fell heavily to the ground.
Kael walked over.
“Oh, I should’ve shown up sooner.”
At this moment, a voice came from behind.
Kael turned and, with surprise, asked, “Professor, are you still alive?”
“Uh, for now, it seems so.” Dumbledore walked over, “Tricking them was no easy feat; when the Polyjuice Potion began to fail, I nearly got exposed. Luckily, the scene was chaotic enough to give me the chance to use a Transfiguration Spell.”
“Just a Transfiguration Spell could fool them all?” Kael asked in amazement.
“I also employed a special magic to make myself appear truly dead.
“When I came to, I used a pre-prepared Portkey to get out,” Dumbledore said.
He glanced at the young version of himself on the ground, instinctively rubbing his head, murmuring softly, “No wonder I inexplicably slept beside the tombstone that day; when I woke up, my head hurt terribly. I didn’t expect it to be your doing.
“I should’ve set the Portkey to activate a bit earlier; that really hurt.”
Kael grinned sheepishly, subtly kicking away a brick from beside young Dumbledore’s head.
“It’s all right; at least the pain then also woke me up,” Dumbledore said, then asked the question he cared about the most.
“What about Arianna, how is she?”
“No problem now,” Kael replied, “I took her to a safe place and guaranteed she’s fine.”
“Where?” Dumbledore asked eagerly.
“The Ministry of Magic, Department of Mysteries.” Kael looked at him, “Don’t think about going to her, at least not now, or everything we’ve done will be for nothing.”
“I know, I won’t go,” Dumbledore said.
Kael wasn’t concerned; in this regard, he trusted Dumbledore not to act rashly.
