Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard
Chapter 1228: Department of Mysteries (Part 3)
“You’ll be okay, Arianna.” Kael whispered, “Someday, you’ll see your two brothers again, although they might look different then, but the feelings between you won’t change with time, I promise.”
Arianna nodded silently.
“Well, follow me.” Kael led Arianna into a record store on the streets of London, and under the puzzled gaze of the shopkeeper, skillfully pointed his wand at a column.
The shelves in the shop automatically parted, revealing a passage behind.
“Is he a Ministry of Magic employee?” the shopkeeper wondered.
He had never seen this person before; logically, the other party was certainly not a member of the Ministry of Magic, yet he seemed to be very familiar with the staff passage.
Perhaps he’s a new recruit.
The shopkeeper didn’t think much of it; after all, it’s just an entrance to the Ministry of Magic, and compared to the mailbox route three streets away, the only advantage is that it’s more convenient.
Besides, verifying visitor identities isn’t his responsibility.
Thus, Kael entered the Ministry of Magic with much grandeur and ease, simpler than he thought; he initially considered using a Confundus Charm to muddle through, but now found it unnecessary.
“Close your eyes, don’t look, don’t listen to anything.” he said.
Out of trust, Arianna did as told.
There’s no choice, the Ministry of Magic is unlike other places, it’s filled everywhere with magic, it’s better to be cautious here.
The Ministry of Magic at this time wasn’t much different from a hundred years later, with a grand golden statue in the center of the lobby.
Kael went straight to the elevator nearby, whether it was because they took the staff passage or the roles weren’t complete, they didn’t encounter staff checking visitor identities and entered the elevator very easily.
Three owls flew out from inside, each clutching a note, then Kael walked in.
During the elevator ride, Arianna remained very quiet; if he couldn’t sense her presence, Kael would have thought she had slipped away.
“Department of Mysteries.”
After an unknown amount of time, a cold female voice broke the silence.
“We’re here… oh, you can open your eyes now.” Kael said.
“Where is this?” Since entering the Ministry of Magic, this was the first time Arianna spoke.
It was too dark here, without any windows on either side of the corridor, which made Arianna a bit nervous.
“A very mysterious department.” Kael said, “If there’s a place that can accept you, it’s probably only here.”
Apart from this, Kael didn’t mention another thought he wanted to verify, but if he was wrong, it wouldn’t be too late to look for other places.
He brought Arianna to the end of the corridor, in front of a black door.
“Please stop.”
A person appeared out of thin air behind them, the other party wearing a hood, obscuring their face, but Kael recognized the golden pattern on the robe, the mark of an Unspeakable.
“Who are you, this is not a Ministry of Magic office, please go back.”
“No, I’m looking for the Department of Mysteries.” Kael replied.
He gently moved his hand, uncovering the Invisibility Cloak over Arianna.
In an instant, the Unspeakable lifted his head, revealing an extremely ordinary face, so normal that no one would notice it on the street.
“Obscurus!” He immediately recognized Arianna’s identity.
…Perhaps it wasn’t that difficult, maybe due to fear of a unfamiliar environment, the Obscurus within Arianna had been very active, especially after the Invisibility Cloak was lifted, Kael only felt a piercing pain in his left arm.
“That’s right.” Kael said, glancing at the young Unspeakable, “Excuse my boldness, but you don’t seem very surprised.”
Even within the Magic Realm, an Obscurus is a rare existence, let alone one who has lived past ten years old, which could be counted on one hand over the past few centuries.
“No, I’m quite surprised.” the Unspeakable shook his head, lifting the hood and saying, “But interestingly enough, just a month ago, a new crystal ball appeared in the Hall of Prophecy, with content relating to an Obscurus.”
“Oh? What was the content?” Kael asked curiously.
“Can’t disclose.” the Unspeakable answered, gazing at Kael, “You seem quite familiar with the Department of Mysteries.”
“Can’t disclose.” Kael replied.
The Unspeakable was a bit choked, but just as he was about to say something, the door behind him opened.
Dozens of similarly dressed Unspeakables emerged from inside, with a blonde witch leading them.
“Alright, Merc, you should welcome our new colleague.”
“New colleague… this ill-mannered kid?”
“No, it’s her.” The witch walked to Arianna’s side, slowly squatting down, her blue eyes gently looking at her.
“Thank you, child.”
Perhaps because the other party’s blue eyes were like her brothers’, the Obscurus within Arianna quickly quieted down.
“Excuse me.” Kael spoke up, “Did you know I’d bring Arianna here?”
“The prophecy told us we’d welcome a new colleague today, so I came to meet you.”
“Does the Department of Mysteries have a Prophet?”
“No, it doesn’t.” The witch shook her head, “It’s just that the Unspeakables are chosen by prophecy, their names appear in a special crystal ball in the Hall of Prophecy, I just happened to see it…
“Though two people came, you’re obviously not called Arianna.”
“Alright.” Kael shrugged, “Looks like I don’t need to explain then, so, can you take good care of her?”
“We’ll do our best to help her control her Obscurus.” the witch replied calmly.
“That’s good.” Kael said.
He hesitated for a moment, preparing to say goodbye to Arianna, but upon looking up, saw only the black door remaining; everyone had disappeared, including Arianna, seemingly taken away by other Unspeakables.
However, Kael couldn’t help but feel relieved.
The Unspeakables were indeed efficient in their actions, which is good, at least he didn’t have to struggle with what to say.
