Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard
Chapter 1213: Farewell, Dumbledore_3
The flames did not dissipate; they coalesced mid-air into a massive three-headed Rune Pattern Snake, roaring as it charged toward Dumbledore.
Great torrents of fire spewed from the snake’s mouth, instantly igniting the wooden barn.
“Fiendfyre!”
“You truly are a Dark Wizard!”
Dumbledore’s expression stiffened, but his first response was not to protect himself or to confront Kael, but to swiftly extinguish the flames around the barn and protect it with magic. Only after completing this did he aim his wand at the fiery snake.
However, Dumbledore did not notice that Kael had apparated again, arriving behind him.
Dumbledore’s attention was focused on the Fiendfyre before him, and by the time he reacted, his wand had already flown out of his hand, swirling and falling into the opponent’s possession.
“Expelliarmus.” Kael stood behind him, smiling as he said, “Professor, I believe we really should have a proper talk.”
Despite losing his wand, Dumbledore did not panic. He raised his right hand high, tightly locking the Fiendfyre in place, then turned to look at Kael.
“If you had used the Killing Curse on me earlier, you might have killed me.”
“Unlikely.” Kael shook his head and said, “You want to protect this barn, so you haven’t been using your full strength. But if I used the Killing Curse, you probably wouldn’t worry about such things anymore.”
Dumbledore did not respond, effectively admitting it.
“If I’m not mistaken, you don’t want anyone to notice what’s happening here, or more specifically, not want Arianna to hear the commotion over here.”
Kael reached out his hand and handed the wand back to Dumbledore.
Dumbledore did not expect Kael to do this. After a slight pause, he took the wand hesitantly.
“What do you mean by this?”
“I told you, I have no malicious intent.” Kael waved his hand, the Fiendfyre vanished, and the cut logs on the roof were reassembled.
Kael calmly repaired the damage in the barn while saying, “I know your purpose; it’s because I’m like you, also returned using the Time Turner. In fact, the Time Turner you used was given to you by me.”
“Impossible.”
“There’s nothing impossible about it.” Kael stopped his actions and said, “Or, Professor, you could carefully think about how you came by the Time Turner.”
“Do you have any impression? I guess probably not.”
Dumbledore fell silent.
Kael was right; he truly couldn’t remember, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t find any memory regarding the Time Turner.
Now, Dumbledore realized something was amiss…
Indeed, how did his Time Turner come about? It couldn’t have appeared out of thin air, and even if it did, he should have memories of it.
Besides, why hadn’t he recognized this point earlier?
And thinking carefully, many things felt unreasonable, like his attitude toward Kael when they first met.
Upon first meeting this man, he subconsciously trusted him. When the man came over to assist him, he had no defenses, naturally accepting the goodwill, showing his most vulnerable side.
This unconditional trust, as though they had known each other for many years.
Only when Kael revealed his deepest secret did this sense of trust vanish.
“You’re saying it’s all true?” Dumbledore asked sternly, “I need evidence, evidence of you knowing me.”
“Simple.”
Kael took out his wand and tapped his forearm.
As the wand passed, a thin golden line appeared on his wrist… Then, the same golden line appeared on Dumbledore’s wrist, and finally, the two lines perfectly connected in the air.
“Contract Magic?!” Dumbledore exclaimed in surprise.
“Exactly, we once used Contract Magic.” Kael said, “As for why, it doesn’t matter; it’s not really relevant to the current situation, but now you should believe me, we do know each other.”
Dumbledore lowered his wand.
He could feel that the contract magic on his wrist was something he applied proactively, and as the golden line appeared, many non-existent images flashed through his mind.
“I’m sorry.” Dumbledore said, “But I truly don’t remember you.”
