Chapter 1209 -839: Arianna_2

To be precise, it should be something happening decades later, but interestingly, the one who can control the Obscurus also has the surname Dumbledore.

Obscurials are already extremely rare, and two of them are from ‘Dumbledore’, is it a coincidence?

The black mist around Arianna was increasing, Kael shook his head and decided not to continue thinking about it. He subtly turned the wand in his hand behind his back, causing magical texts to flicker in the surrounding area.

Then Kael took out a handful of sweets and offered them to Arianna.

“I was just babbling, would you like a candy? It’s really sweet.”

Arianna did not respond; she was already in a state of unconsciousness, most likely struggling to suppress the Obscurus, unable to hear anything he said.

But Kael did not need her to anyway.

He opened a box, and a yellow bee buzzed around the sky before diving into Arianna’s half-open mouth.

The unique sweet aroma of raspberries began to spread rapidly, and amazingly, the black mist around Arianna grew thinner, her previously vacant and unfocused gaze became clear again.

The approach to suppress the outbreak of the Obscurus was provided by Newt, and it was detailed in “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”.

According to his theory, most Obscurial magic bursts are due to emotional instability, but sweet things can ease this condition well, especially as most Obscurials are children. Using candy is even more effective.

Of course, this method is only effective if the Obscurus hasn’t fully erupted. If it breaks free, then even moving an entire candy store over would be useless.

Soon, the black mist vanished completely.

“It’s so delicious,” Arianna said, squinting with joy as if she had completely forgotten the earlier events, “Abeforth brings me these little bees every time he visits, they’re so tasty.

“But he takes ages to come back each time, so I always save them.”

“No worries, you can indulge this time,” Kael said with a smile, taking out even more sweets until the tiny roof was piled with multicolored packages.

Arianna’s eyes widened; she had never seen so many candies, even when her beloved brother Abeforth came home for a holiday, he would only bring two or three boxes. Even when eating sparingly, they wouldn’t last more than a month.

But with the sweets Kael brought, Arianna could eat them as meals for half a year.

“I… I shouldn’t accept…”

Despite being overwhelmed internally, Arianna’s personality made her shake her head, declining Kael’s offer.

“It’s alright, consider it a greeting gift,” Kael said, placing all the candies into a bag enchanted with an Undetectable Extension Charm, and threw it through the window of her attics.

He noticed earlier that Arianna had a big reaction to magic, but was not repulsed by simple magical items… When she saw the Invisibility Cloak, she had no reaction at all.

Perhaps the sensory perception is different. After all, magical items appear indistinguishable from ordinary goods… It could be because she’s always confined, her knowledge limited, and she’s unaware of what they are.

Kael couldn’t explain the specific reason, as his understanding of the Obscurus was limited. He could ask Newt when he returned.

“…Thank you,” Arianna said.

This was the first time someone other than Abeforth had brought her gifts, especially precious sweets.

To Arianna, who had been kept at home, candy was the most treasured thing.

“You’re welcome,” Kael smiled. It’s only a bit of candy; they can be bought again.

“Do you know my brother?” Arianna suddenly asked.

“Which one do you mean?”

“Albus,” Arianna glanced at the barn, “Weren’t you watching him earlier?”

“Did you know he was there?”

“I can see him, he’s with another boy,” Arianna said, “Recently they’ve been staying in that barn frequently, I feel it, Albus seems very happy then, are you their friend too?”

“Well, I guess I know him,” Kael thought and said: “But the Albus I know may not be the same person you’re thinking of.”

Arianna tilted her head, clearly not understanding what Kael meant.

Obviously, both were Albus Dumbledore, how could they not be the same person?

Kael didn’t explain. Trying to elaborate the principles of the Time Turner to a teenage Little Witch would probably take a whole day and she might still not understand.

Luckily, Arianna didn’t dwell on this issue. She was happy to have someone to chat with and receiving precious sweets, yet simultaneously she felt a bit uneasy.

Looking at Kael as if she summoned great courage, Arianna asked, “Aren’t you afraid of me?”

“Why would I be afraid of you?” Kael was slightly taken aback, and asked in return.

Arianna blinked and shook her head gently, her voice soft, “I don’t know, but lots of people are. Abeforth said I couldn’t leave the room, otherwise I’d scare others and I’d be sent to a terrible place… No one else ever visited me, you are the first.”

“Hmm… Maybe I just have a big heart,” Kael replied vaguely.

He knew that Abeforth was correct.

Once an Obscurial is discovered, they are taken to St Mungo’s Hospital under tight surveillance, not allowed to leave, and visits are forbidden. Aside from having no Dementors, it’s almost no different from Azkaban.
