Chapter 1199 -836: Search
“Respected Auror, if there’s no issue, could you please step aside.”
At the entrance of Diagon Alley, a double-decker bus has been forced to stop here, and the ticket collector looks at the circle of Aurors around him, speaking impatiently: “I have already said many times, the person you are looking for has not taken the Knight Bus.”
“But as far as we understand, someone indeed took the Knight Bus from here.” The leading Auror said expressionlessly.
“What’s the issue with that?” The ticket collector became more agitated, “We provide help for wizards in distress, not just today, but everyday we receive passengers from Diagon Alley.”
“Today is special.” The Auror continued: “Someone killed five wizards in Knockturn Alley. Such a heinous act, he will surely target other wizards. We must catch him quickly; you don’t want to be targeted by a ruthless dark wizard either.”
“Killed… five wizards…” The ticket collector was instantly flustered, using his ticket book to wipe the cold sweat off his forehead, “Oh, you mentioned Knockturn Alley, could it have been done by a wizard from there?”
“Knockturn Alley has its own rules. They won’t cause trouble, and certainly won’t bring trouble upon themselves.”
“Then are you sure he left by taking the Knight Bus?” ℴℴ𝘮
“This isn’t something for you to ask.” The Auror said coldly, “Now you just need to cooperate with us.”
“Alright, what do you want to know.” The ticket collector said, “But you’d better ask quickly, there are still many wizards waiting for our help.”
“Don’t worry, it won’t take long.” The Auror said, “However, your answers are too vague, I may need to use some other techniques.”
“Legilimency.”
Before the ticket collector could react, she saw a wand, and then everything that happened in the past three hours began to flash rapidly through her mind.
But these fragments not only she could see, the Auror opposite her could see them too.
“You actually… dared to use… Legilimency on me!”
The ticket collector exploded in anger upon realizing it, “You can’t do this; I’m going to the Ministry of Magic to report this to the Minister!”
“It’s fine, go ahead.” The Auror said calmly, “The situation is urgent, some measures are necessary. As long as we can catch that dark wizard, even if I’m punished, I’ll accept it.”
“Sounds nice.” The ticket collector was not appeased by his few words, “So, did you find any clues?”
The Auror did not speak.
He didn’t find the wealthy stranger described by the shopkeepers in the ticket collector’s memory.
In this memory, only two people took the Knight Bus.
The first was a middle-aged wizard, who was initially ruled out, not because of his different appearance; it’s too easy to change appearances in the magic realm, whether through Transfiguration or Polyjuice Potion.
The main reason was that person didn’t even have a complete Sickle, needing to count a handful of Knuts twice, obviously very tight on money, which didn’t match the lavish spending characteristic of the suspect.
As for the second, it was a witch, looking very urgent, possibly the one they’re looking for, but only possibly.
Because such a cruel dark wizard is usually very cunning, with a wealth of methods to evade the Ministry of Magic’s investigation, perhaps already slipped away unnoticed.
The Auror rubbed his forehead; anyway, it’s still worth checking out, at least to keep himself busy, or he won’t be able to explain to the Ministry of Magic.
Right now, he could only make as much noise as possible, keeping the opponent wary and quiet for a short time.
Or if another five wizards were killed, his career as an Auror would be over.
He waved his hand, signaling the Knight Bus could leave.
The ticket collector snorted coldly and got on the bus.
“You guys stay here.” Then he turned to the people following him, “Baddock, you come with me to Northamptonshire.”
“Captain, you can’t really believe that guy took the Knight Bus to leave, can you?” An Auror walked over and asked: “A wizard so wealthy might not even know about this means of transportation.
“I still think we should check that old fellow Malfoy, everyone knows Hokuriken works for him. Is it possible he knew too much and was silenced?”
“Do you have evidence? Malfoy is a favorite guest of many ministers.” The Auror captain said solemnly, “Perhaps as soon as we enter his manor, we’ll be told to leave.”
“Evidence can be found.” Baddock said, “Didn’t we get news that someone saw Hokuriken handling a Fire Dragon Egg, but the egg disappeared afterward.
“Malfoy is the strongest opponent of establishing the Fire Dragon Reserve, maybe Hokuriken’s silencing is related to this.
“Makes sense.” The Auror captain said without turning back, “Then you don’t need to come with me to Northamptonshire, go find the dragon egg. If you find it, this position is yours.”
“Well…” Baddock said awkwardly, scratching his head, “I, I don’t know where to look.”
“It’s alright, I know, that dragon egg was most likely taken by the dark wizard who killed Hokuriken. As long as you can find him, you’ll find the dragon egg.”
Baddock was even more embarrassed… Searching for that dark wizard is exactly what they’re doing?
He could only shut his mouth and silently follow behind.
“But there’s one thing you said right.” The Auror captain thought for a moment, “Then, go near Malfoy Manor, watch all activities there, ensure you’re well hidden, don’t expose yourself, I’ll find a way to get a search warrant from the Minister.”
