Chapter 2924: Chapter 1143: Those Roads to Hell
"——Though I dwell in secluded bamboo, I shall never see the sky, the path is perilous and hard, and I walk alone, trailing behind."
"——I stand alone atop the mountain, clouds churn below."
"——With impenetrable darkness shall daylight fade, the east wind carries divine rain!"
The coarse and turbid chants emanated from that vortex, intermittently echoing above the Silent Forest, as all light seemed to be swallowed by the vortex.
The east wind whirled, clouds and mist enveloped, sparse black raindrops fell upon the earth, landing on the menacing blood-eyed monsters; some wailed, screamed, and melted in the black rain, while others grew larger, their aura rising, becoming increasingly frenzied.
Meanwhile, the great vortex appeared to contract into a tiny point at some moment, as if suddenly creating an infinite distance between it and Professor Emma, while the giant pale gray hands extending from the vortex became remote and insignificant.
Professor Emma listened quietly to those chants.
Silently observing as the vortex cleverly employed space magic to create a safe distance from her.
She did not interfere with the other’s descent.
On one hand, if the space passage above the Silent Forest were shattered, the intruder on the other end would indeed be barred, ’kept outside the door,’ yet it would inevitably damage Buji Island’s feng shui and space structure.
On the other hand, Professor Emma harbored a pressing desire to ’prove herself’—she had succeeded the vice principal of the First University without fully advancing to the legendary realm, which had sparked criticism and even secret opposition. But if she successfully suppressed a legendary intruder to the school, it would certainly silence those rumors.
Of course, her boldness largely stemmed from the fact that the uninvited guest on the other side of the passage was also a fringe magician, not a true legend. She had the home advantage, able to exert strength comparable to a true legend on Buji Island, with extensive knowledge of Montelio and Primordial matters, thus her confidence in suppressing him was around sixty to seventy percent.
Sixty to seventy percent odds in the legendary realm were already very high.
"——Thunder crashes and rain darkens, monkeys cry and baboons hoot at night!"
"——The wind sighs and trees rustle, longing for the gentleman in vain!"
Low thunder accompanied these chanting spells, rolling in from the horizon, and the black raindrops fell even more urgently. In the Silent Forest, the blood-eyed monsters’ howls and roars rose and fell, the wild wind mixed with chaotic magic power, seemingly dragging the area into the boundless savage era.
’Primordial’ finally tore through the space passage, squeezing past the vortex that had shrunk to a pinpoint, returning to this world he was equally familiar with.
One step, two steps, three steps.
His figure seemed to stride across the end of time, swelling from needlepoint size to a giant, stepping on the earth, towering over the starry sky, the previously vast Silent Forest appeared to have boundaries, the sound of blue-black seawater lapping the shore audible all around.
Facing the colossus before her.
Behind Professor Emma, a massive firebird silhouette emerged, its wings spread like a fiery line, stretching from one end of the sky to the other, directly dividing the heavy darkness into day and night.
"You maniac."
Professor Emma shook her head slightly and gazed at the location of the Primordial Heart: "——Your feet are on Buji Island, it’s the First University, it’s the future of the Wizard World... So many students are here, is this the example you’re setting for them?"
Montelio seemed surprised to be considered a professor by the other.
He felt somewhat moved.
Yet similarly shook his head.
"No, I’m not crazy, the world is."
His voice was firm, swept across the entire Buji Island with rumbling thunder: "——Wizards prefer to waste time on mutual slaughter, meaningless artificial rules, and inexplicable self-restraint, while turning a blind eye to eternal truth... It’s a desecration of magic, a contempt for truth. So you all are the ones who have gone mad, not me."
There was some reason in his argument.
Though not very much.
Yet since he presented a reasoned argument, it indicated the other wasn’t entirely insane, so Professor Emma pondered whether she could use words to persuade the other to cease resistance.
"Where there’s life, there’s contradiction, where there’s contradiction, mutual slaughter occurs, and rules are needed to bind. As a veteran of the school, you should know, contradiction is one of the greatest truths of this world."
Professor Emma didn’t speak directly, but flung thoughts containing this message at Primordial—although a ’literary battle’ didn’t mean just verbal sparring; it was based on a non-compromising dynamic balance—across the horizon, the fiery line surged forward with her thoughts, curving into a beautiful arc in the sky: "If you wish to completely rid yourself of contradictions, you might need to stay in Heaven... but no one knows where Heaven is. Atlas said it well, those roads leading to Hell were originally meant to go to Heaven."
Her fiery thoughts, carrying immense power, struck Primordial heavily, yet it seemed to sink into cotton, without causing any ripples.
Primordial—or Montelio—appeared touched by Professor Emma’s words, surprisingly lowered his head and gazed at the empty original site of the First University.
After a while, he lightly sighed: "Heaven, what a beautiful place... Birth represents hope, death represents peace. The school’s wizards live between hope and peace, pursuing the meaning of existence. Wizards need the meaning of existence, just as the meaning of existence requires the wizards’ recognition... Hell, Heaven, and so forth, these concepts lose their value without the wizards’ acknowledgment."
In other words, he didn’t necessarily need to seek his promised land in Heaven.
Similar to Professor Emma’s means, Montelio’s words were also wielded like a heavy thought, his portion of the night sky drawn out, tearing a sharp black arrow, like an arrow piercing towards the giant firebird.
What a sight!
The firebird slightly flapped its wings, causing a gentle sound that resonated across the heavens and earth, and countless slender fire feathers shot forth from the edges of its curved wings, resembling fire meteors, intertwining to envelope the black arrow. With a mere slight tremor, the thought was refined into a wisp of black mist, dispersing into the world.
The two newly legendary wizards exchanged a few rudimentary gestures, through divine thought confrontation, gaining a certain understanding of each other’s strength, the battlefield atmosphere sharply intensified.
