High Martial: I Use Everything as Swords
Chapter 512 - 319: The Boundary Membrane Turns to Mist! The Ghost Squad’s Lone Investigation (Part 2)
Had any other elite from the Vanguard Army been in his place, even one wearing a "Silent One" circlet, their mind would have been thrown into utter chaos by the surprise attack.
However, in Han Feng’s Sea of Consciousness, the [Heart Clarity and Nature Seeing (High Level)] Talent activated automatically in an instant.
That bizarre Spiritual Power melted away like ice in the sun, vanishing in an instant without a trace, failing to stir even the slightest ripple.
"Hm?"
A cold sweat, however, broke out on Han Feng’s back.
’That last attack was silent and impossible to defend against!’
’If it weren’t for my exceptional Talent, the consequences would have been unthinkable.’
’This godforsaken place is even more sinister than I thought.’
His eyes narrowed as he mentally upgraded the danger level of Dragon Abyss once again.
Not daring to let his guard down, he maintained his supersonic cruise, discovering several more tribes of varying sizes in succession.
In one tribe, giant, black-skinned apes even tore off and hurled chunks of the mountain at him, but he still easily outpaced their attacks.
His Energy Detector showed that the strongest energy signatures in this peripheral region were just two blips, both at Tier Four Early Stage.
’There’s a civilization here, but it’s relatively primitive, and their attack methods are bizarre...’ Han Feng concluded silently.
...
At the same time Han Feng was reassessing the dangers of Dragon Abyss, in another stretch of airspace, Wang Rui was leading his three-man team in a standard triangular attack formation, skimming low over a rugged red canyon.
"Two, Three, maintain formation. Altitude one thousand meters," Wang Rui’s voice came over the encrypted channel, tinged with a hint of static.
"Understood, Captain."
"Copy."
The other two pilots gave short replies. They were all veterans of the Ghost Squad, possessing rock-solid composure.
Below, the canyon was home to a tribe whose members were giant apes standing over three meters tall, their bodies a mass of knotted muscle and their skin like black iron.
Seeing the jets pass overhead, they all let out furious roars, picking up massive boulders and hurling them upward with all their might.
The boulders flew several hundred meters into the sky before losing momentum and plummeting, posing no threat to the jets flying at an altitude of one thousand meters.
"These monkeys are pretty strong, though," quipped Liu Feng, the Pilot in the number three position.
"Stay focused. Log the Energy signatures," Wang Rui reminded him.
Just then, without any warning, the three fighter jets suddenly lurched downward!
"WARNING! WARNING! EXTREME GRAVITY FIELD DETECTED! AIRFRAME STRUCTURAL OVERLOAD!"
The piercing alarms instantly blared through every cockpit.
"What’s going on?!" Liu Feng exclaimed.
He felt as though an invisible mountain was crushing him into his seat, his very bones groaning under the unbearable strain.
The control panel before him began to warp in his vision, and it felt as if his blood was turning to sludge.
"Engage vertical engines! Pull up! Now!" Wang Rui roared.
Scorching blue streams of Energy erupted from the tails of all three jets as they tried to counteract the terrifying pull.
However, Liu Feng’s jet, positioned in the center of the triangular formation, was enduring the most terrifying amount of Gravity.
Even with the engines pushed to maximum power, the fuselage continued to plummet, its descent accelerating uncontrollably.
"It’s no good, Captain!
The Gravity here is over twenty times normal! I’ve lost control of the plane!"
Liu Feng’s voice was warped by the immense pressure.
"Two and Three! Break to the sides!" Wang Rui ordered decisively.
He and the other Pilot shoved their control sticks hard, banking their jets so sharply to the sides it nearly tore the airframes apart.
At the cost of their altitude plummeting to less than two hundred meters, the two jets finally burst out of the Gravity Field’s edge. Their airframes suddenly felt weightless, and they regained control.
But Liu Feng wasn’t so lucky.
His fighter jet plummeted like a stone, crashing straight into the primeval jungle below.
BOOM—!!!
Accompanied by the thunderous sound of snapping trees, a massive plume of smoke and dust billowed up from the forest canopy.
"Liu Feng! Liu Feng! Answer me!"
Wang Rui circled his jet outside the gravity zone, his calls frantic.
After a burst of static, Liu Feng’s weak but clear voice came through:
"*Cough, cough*... Captain, I... I’m still alive. The plane... the plane’s a total loss."
Wang Rui let out a sigh of relief, but his heart leaped back into his throat the very next second.
Gaining altitude, he looked through his tactical eyepiece and saw that dozens of tall figures had already burst out from the black ape tribe in the canyon, and they were now sprinting toward Liu Feng’s crash site.
"Liu Feng! Get away from the jet! Those monsters are coming for you! Run!"
Inside the cockpit, Liu Feng spat out a mouthful of bloody froth and struggled to unbuckle his safety harness. The twenty-fold Gravity made every single movement exceptionally difficult.
He looked at the severely deformed cockpit, which was now billowing black smoke, and knew this expensive fighter jet was a complete write-off.
"Fuck, I’m going to have to write a ten-thousand-word after-action report for this," he cursed. With all his strength, he shoved open the twisted canopy.
True Qi coursed frantically through his body, resisting the Gravity that threatened to crush him into a paste.
As an Enlightenment Realm Middle Stage Martial Artist, his physical constitution was far beyond that of a normal person, which was why he was just barely able to stand, like an ordinary man would.
He leaped from the jet and, without a moment’s hesitation, got his bearings and sprinted away from the canyon with everything he had.
From the jungle behind him came the sound of earth-shaking footsteps and the roars of giant apes.
’Damn, these beasts are fast!’
Liu Feng poured True Qi into his legs, darting through the dense forest.
Thankfully, after he had run about four or five hundred meters, the crushing pressure on his body rapidly weakened before disappearing completely.
His speed surged, and he managed to widen the gap again.
He pulled out his personal communicator and tried to contact Wang Rui.
"Captain! Captain! Can you hear me? I’m out of the gravity field!"
