High Martial Arts: Enlightenment after Practices
Chapter 751: Pacifying Dongjiang
In the very next moment, the Star Beasts were instantly stripped of their lives. Along with the six Great Commanders, they were immediately reduced to raw materials.
Xu Wuyi retracted his right hand and nodded at Qiao Tongyu. “It’s done.”
His voice was perfectly calm, as if he were merely commenting on the pleasant weather.
Qiao Tongyu blanked for a second before snapping back to reality. He took a deep breath and shouted at the stunned Martial Artists, “What are you all standing around for? Go harvest them!”
The Martial Artists finally snapped out of their daze and rushed forward. Some took out specialized containers to collect blood, others drew their blades to strip scales and armor, and the rest hoisted the frozen Star Beasts to carry them back to the camp.
The entire process was orderly and completely free of danger.
The Star Beasts remained rooted in place, entirely at the mercy of the workers. They couldn’t so much as twitch; they were essentially already dead, merely locked in that specific state.
Xu Wuyi stood in the center of the battlefield, watching the busy figures with a calm expression. The Power of Order continued to flow around him, maintaining the suspended state of the Star Beasts. How long this condition would last depended entirely on how long he wished to sustain it. With his current level of control, keeping it up for an hour or so was no problem at all.
That was more than enough.
At some point, Qiao Zhiyao had run over to stand beside him. She stared wide-eyed at the immobilized Star Beasts, her lips parted slightly as she struggled to find her voice. After a long pause, she finally managed to speak.
“Senior Brother, did you… do all this?”
Xu Wuyi nodded.
Qiao Zhiyao took a deep breath and turned to look at the giant bear Commander. The behemoth was frozen less than twenty meters away from her. Its massive paws were still locked in a striking posture, and its crimson eyes were filled with resentment and terror.
She had never seen such a creature up close, nor had she ever witnessed this method of combat. Normally, she would go far out of her way to avoid Star Beasts at the Great Commander Level. Yet now, they were fixed in place, completely immobilized and subjected to her scrutiny.
Unable to resist, she reached out, wanting to touch the giant bear Commander’s fur.
Halfway there, Qiao Tongyu’s voice barked from the side. “Don’t touch it!”
Startled, Qiao Zhiyao immediately yanked her hand back.
Qiao Tongyu quickly walked over and glared at her. “Although these Star Beasts are dead, their physiological reflexes are still intact. If you touch it and trigger a reflex, one swipe of its paw will crush you.”
Qiao Zhiyao stuck her tongue out playfully, not daring to reach out again. However, the way she looked at Xu Wuyi grew even more reverent.
On the battlefield, the Martial Artists were still hard at work.
They collected blood, peeled off scales, and severed muscles and bones at breakneck speed. They had done this kind of work countless times, but it had never been this effortless. Usually, taking down a single Great Commander cost them several lives. But now? Six Great Commanders were laid out before them, completely defenseless and open to whatever they wanted to do.
A young Martial Artist couldn’t help but sigh in awe. “I’ve been doing this for over a decade, and this is the first time I’ve ever seen anything like it. So many Star Beasts, so many Great Commanders, all frozen for us to process however we like. If word of this gets out, who would even believe it?”
An older Martial Artist beside him shot him a warning glare. “Keep your mouth shut. This is classified, understand?”
The younger Martial Artist quickly clammed up, though the excitement on his face was impossible to hide.
Another Martial Artist spoke up while peeling off scales. “I heard that Grandmaster Xu killed over four thousand Star Beasts all by himself at the Profound Abyssal Rift, and he kept their bodies perfectly intact. I thought it was just an exaggeration at the time, but looking at this… it’s all true.”
“Obviously! He’s a Grandmaster now. For small fries like us, that kind of power is unimaginable.”
“I’ve seen Grandmasters before, but I’ve never seen anything like this. Have you ever seen any Grandmaster pull off a feat like this?”
“…Never.”
The group conversed in low voices as they worked, their hands never once stopping.
Over an hour later.
The battlefield was completely cleared.
All the Star Beast corpses had been transported back to the camp, leaving behind only scattered bloodstains and the scars of battle.
Xu Wuyi lowered his right hand, and the Power of Order slowly dissipated.
The immobilized Star Beasts were now nothing more than lifeless husks. The entire process had been completely silent. The Star Beasts hadn’t even realized they were dead.
Qiao Tongyu walked up to him, a smile he couldn’t conceal spreading across his face.
“Wuyi, we really owe you for this,” he said, reaching out to firmly shake Xu Wuyi’s hand. “Seven Great Commanders and two thousand, three hundred Star Beasts, all perfectly preserved. This haul is double what we expected.”
Xu Wuyi shook his head. “You’re too polite, Uncle Qiao. I’m getting a cut of the profits, too.”
Qiao Tongyu chuckled and didn’t press the matter. He turned to look at the Martial Artists taking inventory of the supplies, a hint of emotion in his eyes.
“You have no idea. We used to pay a heavy price every time we dealt with these Rifts. Sometimes, after fighting tooth and nail for half the day, we’d barely recover a third of the materials.” He paused, his tone turning grave. “Today’s haul alone is enough to sustain our Battle Group for several years. How many resources can we exchange these materials for? How many new recruits can we train? How many lives can we save? I don’t even dare to imagine.”
Xu Wuyi listened in silence. He knew Qiao Tongyu was telling the truth.
To the Federation, Star Beast materials were an incredibly scarce resource. Every single Star Beast corpse was a fortune in its own right. Harvesting over two thousand, three hundred perfectly intact corpses in a single swoop like today was simply unimaginable under normal circumstances.
