High Martial Arts: Enlightenment after Practices
Chapter 750: Pacifying Dongjiang
The two crashed into each other in an instant. The War Axe cleaved into the Rock Armor Commander, producing a dull, deafening thud. A deep fissure was hacked into the thick, heavy rock armor, and dark red blood seeped from the crack.
However, the Rock Armor Commander retaliated with a swipe of its claw, sending the Martial Artist flying backward. He tumbled across the ground several times before coming to a halt.
The Martial Artist coughed up a mouthful of blood but quickly got back to his feet. Wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth, he flashed a grin and charged forward once more.
The battle entered a stalemate. More Star Beasts surged from the Rift, and more Martial Artists from the Battle Group rushed to meet them. Beyond the defensive line, figures engaged in combat littered the battlefield. The radiant glow of Martial Techniques intertwined with the roaring of the Star Beasts, shaking the entire valley.
The second Great Commander appeared.
It was a Shadow Leopard Commander, pitch-black all over and moving as swiftly as the wind. The moment it burst from the Rift, it turned into a blur, bypassing the frontline to pounce toward the flank of the defensive line.
But the Battle Group was well-prepared. On the flank, another Innate Martial Artist was already waiting. Speed was his specialty; with a flash of movement, he intercepted the Shadow Leopard Commander, locking it in a fierce melee.
A third, a fourth, a fifth…
One after another, Great Commanders poured out of the Rift, and each was met by an Innate Martial Artist from the Battle Group. Some of these Martial Artists excelled in head-on assaults, while others specialized in hit-and-run speed tactics or long-range suppression. Their division of labor was clear, their coordination seamless.
Their goal wasn’t to secure kills, but simply to stall. To drag the fight out until every Great Commander emerged—until the moment Xu Wuyi made his move.
The battle grew increasingly fierce. The battlefield was strewn with the corpses of Star Beasts and painted in blood. The Martial Artists of the Battle Group were all sustaining injuries; those with minor wounds fought on, while the heavily injured were carried off, instantly replaced by those in the rear.
Standing at the edge of the camp, Qiao Tongyu wore a grave expression. The few people beside him were the backbone of the Battle Group. They gripped their weapons tightly, ready to strike at a moment’s notice. However, Qiao Tongyu didn’t give the order to move; he simply watched the distant battle in silence.
Xu Wuyi was also watching.
As he watched these Martial Artists fighting a bloody battle, using their very bodies to block the onslaught of those behemoths, a subtle feeling welled up in his heart. These people—just like the ones he had fought alongside at the Profound Abyssal Rift—were putting their lives on the line to protect this land. They didn’t possess his abilities and couldn’t instantly slay those Star Beasts. They could only grind them down and wear them out bit by bit.
But they never backed down.
The sixth Great Commander finally appeared.
It was a species Xu Wuyi had never seen before. It resembled a giant bear, but its entire body was covered in long, dark red fur. It was far more massive than the previous ones, standing nearly seven meters tall—like a small mountain. The moment it burst from the Rift, the air across the entire battlefield seemed to stagnate. Sensing its aura, the battling Star Beasts let out even more frenzied roars. The faces of the Battle Group’s Martial Artists turned solemn, and they subconsciously tightened their grips on their weapons.
The Giant Bear Commander unleashed an earth-shattering roar and took heavy strides, charging toward the defensive line. With every step it took, the ground trembled violently. Any Star Beast blocking its path—whether low-tier or Great Commander Level—was mercilessly swatted away. It barreled toward the defense line like a runaway train.
Just then, a figure swept past. The figure didn’t move quickly; his steps were steady as he walked toward the Giant Bear Commander step by step.
It was Xu Wuyi.
Seeing him, Qiao Tongyu breathed a sigh of relief. He knew the time had come. All six Great Commanders had revealed themselves, and the strongest Giant Bear Commander had emerged. The remaining one—the most deeply hidden Great Commander—probably wouldn’t make an appearance now.
Xu Wuyi walked up to the Giant Bear Commander, stopping less than fifty meters away from it.
The Giant Bear Commander halted its movements, its scarlet eyes fixed dead upon this suddenly appearing human. It sensed danger from this human—a danger far more terrifying than the previous human. That sensation made it instinctively want to retreat, but the Rift was right behind it; it couldn’t step back. It let out a low growl, its massive body leaning forward slightly as it assumed an attacking stance.
Xu Wuyi ignored it.
He raised his right hand, aiming it at the entire battlefield.
Deep within his sea of consciousness, the pale blue Heart of Order began to rotate slowly. The Power of Order surged out like a tidal wave, coursing down his arm, pooling into his palm, and finally erupting outwards.
It wasn’t an attack. It was a blanket of coverage, an envelopment, an assertion of control.
The invisible Power of Order radiated outward with him at the center, instantly blanketing the entire battlefield. From the low-tier Star Beasts on the outermost fringes to the Great Commanders locked in melee combat, every single one was enveloped within it.
The slaughtering Star Beasts suddenly stopped moving. They maintained their charging postures with gaping maws and glaring eyes. But in that fraction of a second, all the order within their bodies was dismantled.
Not destroyed, but dismantled.
Xu Wuyi didn’t destroy their Life Rules; he merely forced those Rules to temporarily cease functioning. It was like hitting the pause button, plunging them into an eerie state where they were neither dead nor capable of movement.
The battlefield instantly fell dead silent.
Over a thousand Star Beasts and six Great Commanders were frozen in place, completely motionless. Only the Martial Artists of the Battle Group remained standing there in a daze, staring wide-eyed at the scene, unable to process what had just happened.
