High Martial Arts: Enlightenment after Practices
Chapter 745: Seeing Qiao Zhiyao Again
The rules he created now were ones even he himself had to obey. Other Grandmasters couldn’t escape this influence either; this was simply because the rule of “Order” operated on far too high a level.
Xu Wuyi withdrew his spear and stood still, letting out a long breath.
The door to the simulation training room was pushed open. Ye Guanlan walked in quickly, his face bearing unconcealable excitement.
“Did it work?” he asked.
Xu Wuyi nodded, answering truthfully. “It worked. Although it’s only the simplest version and needs further refinement, the direction is correct.”
Ye Guanlan looked at him, a complex light flashing in his eyes.
Only a month. It had taken just a single, short month. He had originally thought this process would take months or even years, but Xu Wuyi had completed the leap from theory to practice in just a month. This couldn’t be explained by comprehension alone; it was the result of a profound understanding of the rules themselves.
“Good,” Ye Guanlan said, his voice carrying a bit of emotion. “Since the direction is right, the next step is to slowly polish it. Make this rule more stable, more controllable, and finally integrate it into your Spear Technique.
“When that time comes, your opponents will no longer face the simple Power of Order, but an existence capable of changing the rules at any time. That kind of oppressive feeling is not something just anyone can withstand.”
Xu Wuyi nodded without speaking. He knew Ye Guanlan was telling the truth.
Artificially creating rules gave him infinite possibilities in battle. When facing an opponent skilled in gravity, he could create the rule of “Gravity Imbalance,” turning the opponent’s greatest strength into their most fatal flaw. When facing an opponent skilled in flames, he could create the rule of “Flame Suppression,” causing the opponent to instantly lose their greatest reliance. This kind of targeted suppression was far more effective than any conventional attack.
Of course, the premise for all this was that he could truly integrate these rules into his Spear Technique, turning them into methods he could use at will during combat. This process still required time and a massive amount of practice.
But he wasn’t in a hurry. He could take his time.
Xu Wuyi’s last day at the research institute began on an ordinary morning.
He stood in the center of the Cultivation Room, holding the Liaoyuan Long Spear, and slowly concluded his practice. The results of this past month’s cultivation were even more fruitful than he had expected.
The Three Main Attack Spear Techniques had completely solidified. With every strike, he no longer needed to deliberately mobilize the Power of Heart Image. The Power of Order would naturally flow along the optimized paths, condensing into the desired effect at the tip of the spear. Those small tricks used to interfere with an enemy’s perception had also completely merged into the Spear Technique itself. Now, every thrust of his spear automatically carried an invisible interference field. It skewed the enemy’s perception, ensuring that even if they clearly saw the spear, they couldn’t accurately judge its trajectory.
More importantly, he had successfully mastered the method of artificially creating rules.
Although he could currently only create the simplest rules—such as “Gravity Imbalance” and “Flame Suppression”—and the creation process still required a little preparation rather than being instant like his previous Spear Techniques, this was already an entirely new direction. It was a possibility that would allow him to go much further on the path of a Grandmaster.
He put away his long spear and walked out of the Cultivation Room.
In the living room, Ye Guanlan was already waiting with a document in hand. Seeing Xu Wuyi emerge, he stood up and handed it over.
“Your data has been completely sealed,” Ye Guanlan said, his tone much more formal than usual. “Starting today, all your research data at the institute—including the complete analysis of the Three Main Attack Spear Techniques, the application methods for the Power of Heart Image, and the preliminary results of artificially creating rules—has been classified as Federation top secret.”
Xu Wuyi took the document and quickly skimmed through it. It was an official confidentiality agreement, stamped with the dual seals of the research institute and the Supreme Council. It detailed the sealed contents and the strict minimum clearance required to access them.
Ye Guanlan looked at him, his gaze somewhat complex. “To be honest, I’ve worked at the institute for many years and handled the files of countless Martial Artists. But someone like you, whose data is classified as top secret right after advancing to Grandmaster, is the very first.”
He paused before adding, “This shows that the higher-ups truly view you as a future trump card. Your abilities are too unique—so unique that they don’t want the outside world to know too much.”
Xu Wuyi nodded and safely tucked the document away. He understood Ye Guanlan’s meaning, just as he understood the Federation’s intentions.
The effectiveness of his Power of Order against low-tier Star Beasts was simply too astonishing. The ability to instantly kill thousands of Star Beasts while simultaneously preserving their intact corpses would definitely attract unnecessary attention if discovered by other civilizations. Especially in a place like the Star Realm Battlefield, any special ability could make one a prime target.
“Thank everyone at the institute for me,” Xu Wuyi said. “It’s been a tough month for you all.”
Ye Guanlan waved a hand, smiling. “What tough work? Being able to participate in this level of research is our honor. If there’s a chance in the future, you’re welcome back anytime.”
The two chatted for a while longer before walking out of the courtyard together.
A dedicated institute vehicle was parked outside, and Ye Guanlan personally escorted him to the surface exit. The car slowly drove up through the tunnel, passed the giant alloy doors, and entered the suburban highway of Xingjing. Sunlight spilled through the car windows, wrapping him in a comforting warmth.
Having not seen real sunlight for over a month, Xu Wuyi narrowed his eyes, taking a moment to adjust to the blinding brightness.
