Chapter 744 - 700: Meeting Qiao Zhiyao Again

Ye Guanlan looked at his thoughtful expression and continued.

"Of course, the difficulty of this approach is extremely high. To artificially create a certain Rule, you first need a profound understanding of the Rule itself.

"If you want to create ’Gravity Imbalance,’ you must first understand what Gravity is, under what circumstances it loses balance, and what effects that imbalance produces.

"If you want to create ’Flame Suppression,’ you must first understand the essence of Flame, its conditions for burning, and the foundation of its existence.

"Only when you’ve thoroughly understood all of this can you possibly use your Power of Heart Image to create an entirely new Rule."

Xu Wuyi listened, gradually finding a direction in his heart.

He had previously mastered Flame Rules, as well as Gravity Rules. Although those Rules had now been absorbed by the Heart of Order, they hadn’t disappeared; instead, they had become the foundation for his understanding of Rules. From this perspective, he was indeed qualified to attempt this new approach.

"How long will this take?" he asked.

Ye Guanlan shook his head and answered truthfully. "There is no way to estimate that. Creating a new Rule is not like practicing Spear Technique or honing minor skills; it’s an entirely new exploration. It might take a few months, a few years, or you might even never succeed."

He paused, his tone becoming more serious. "But we can help you shorten this process. Based on your Heart Phase Traits, we will design a series of targeted training plans to let you continuously deepen your understanding of Flame and Gravity through practice. When the time is right, you can try creating new Rules, and your probability of success will be much higher."

Xu Wuyi remained silent for a few seconds before nodding. "All right, I’ll try."

In the following days, he followed Ye Guanlan’s plan and began re-studying Flame and Gravity Rules. He would enter the research institute’s simulated training room and repeatedly practice the various forms and applications of Flame in a virtual environment. Those simulated scenarios were extremely lifelike. Every flicker, every burn, and every change of the Flame was as clear as if it were real.

He began to understand Flame anew.

Flame was not simply high temperature, nor was it just burning. It was a Rule—a Rule that transformed matter from one state into another. The essence of burning was to Break the old structure and establish a new one. It was making originally stable molecules unstable and allowing originally unstable molecules to recombine.

This understanding was incredibly similar to Order Rules. Order was control, and Flame was also control. However, Flame controlled the form of matter, whereas Order controlled all Rules.

He continued to study and continued to comprehend. Sometimes he would enter another simulated training room to begin researching Gravity Rules.

What was the essence of Gravity? It wasn’t a force of attraction, nor was it universal gravitation, but a Rule that made all things fall into their proper places. It made heavy things sink, light things float, and ensured everything had its rightful position.

This understanding was just as similar to Order Rules. Order put all things in their proper places, and Gravity also put all things in their proper places. However, Gravity dictated physical positions, whereas Order dictated the position of Rules.

Days passed like this, one after another.

Every few days, Ye Guanlan’s team would send over a new training plan, constantly adjusting the difficulty and direction based on his progress. Those plans grew increasingly complex and in-depth, but Xu Wuyi completed them all one by one, never slacking off.

One afternoon, a month later, he stood in the simulated training room, facing a virtual space. There was nothing in that space; only a stretch of nothingness.

He raised his spear, his mind stirring. The Power of Order surged from his sea of consciousness, flowing along the optimized path toward the spear tip. But the moment it reached the tip, he didn’t let it condense into an attack. Instead, he let it scatter and merge into that void-like space.

Then, he began to create—creating a Rule, a Rule named "Gravity Imbalance."

His understanding of Gravity had deepened significantly over these days. The essence of Gravity, how Gravity operated, under what circumstances Gravity would lose its balance, and what effects would arise after that imbalance—he already knew all of these by heart. What he had to do now was to transform these understandings into true Rules.

The Power of Order surged in the void, building something bit by bit.

The feeling was wondrous, as if he were weaving a net with invisible silk threads. Each thread represented a Rule, and every Rule needed to be woven accurately into its proper place.

Xu Wuyi focused entirely, not daring to be distracted in the slightest. Minute by minute passed. Fine beads of sweat seeped from his forehead, but the movements of his hands didn’t stop.

Finally, the net was woven.

He opened his eyes and looked at the space before him. The space remained void, but he could feel that it was already different. A new Rule was operating there—a Rule named "Gravity Imbalance."

His mind stirred, controlling the Rules in that space to begin changing.

The Gravity that should have pulled downward suddenly flipped upward. The Gravity Field that should have been stable suddenly began to fluctuate violently. Everything that should have been in its proper place suddenly lost direction, no longer knowing where to fall.

He had succeeded.

Even though it was just a virtual space, and even though it was only the simplest Rule, he had indeed succeeded. He had used the Power of Order to create a Rule that previously didn’t exist.

This kind of Rule was unlike his artificial manipulation back in the Innate realm, which had been neither fast enough nor immune to the limits of his own Heart Image.
