Chapter 1072: Chapter 775: The Man in the Black Robe (Part 2)

Shen Tang continued from where he left off, "If the ’Return Nest’ project were truly successfully researched by the Divine Hall, then that would be genuinely terrifying. So, regardless of whether we work with Mo Yan or not, we have to rescue Wu Wei. We absolutely cannot let them succeed."

Shen Li listened and remained silent for a while.

He had stayed here longer, knew more than they did. When the two were done speaking, he suddenly spoke, "The Wu Wei you mentioned... I might have seen her."

The others all looked at him.

Shen Li continued, "If she is indeed held here, it should be in the underground prison of the biological laboratory—right in the Central District where we are now."

Shen Tang’s heart tightened, and he urgently asked, "Are you sure?"

"Not completely sure, just a guess." Shen Li shook his head, "I vaguely overheard someone mention it when I was disguised as a guard. They said the underground prison recently held an important figure. But I haven’t seen it with my own eyes, nor do I know what the female caught by the Divine Hall looks like. However..." He paused, "The possibility is high."

He took out something resembling a fire stick from his pocket, began to draw and sketch on the wall, explaining the general layout of the Central District.

"The Central District is separated from the Outer Zone by a high wall. Many of the Divine Hall’s important industries are concentrated here, essentially maintaining the proper operation of the entire Divine Hall. The most important of which are three major ones, and their scale is the largest."

He marked several places on the wall.

"This area we’re currently in is adjacent to the energy refinery and weapons research laboratory. It’s one of the Divine Hall’s core industries, producing the finest weapons on Eris Star. Various clans purchase from the Divine Hall at high prices or exchange with resources."

"Another is the biological laboratory." Shen Li’s fingers moved to another mark, "It’s the one you are most familiar with. The Divine Hall’s laboratories placed among the Foreign Clan and even those scattered across Beast World Continent are extensions of this headquarters. Here they cultivate various mutant plants and organisms."

He looked up at Shen Tang and Lu Xiao, "If your guess is correct, Wu Wei should be imprisoned in the underground prison related to the biological laboratory."

The four exchanged a glance, tacitly moving towards the biological laboratory.

The biological laboratory was located at the deepest part of the Central District. In the distance, two gigantic towers rose from the ground, almost piercing the clouds. Their design was unique, resembling two intertwined DNA helices, tangling together and extending upwards, converging into a sharp cone at the top.

The towers were dark gray, covered densely with genetic patterns—double helixes, base pairs, the lines of cell division, layered and sprawling like ancient incantations, or cold declarations.

Shen Tang looked up at these two towers, an indescribable feeling surging in her heart.

This is the headquarters of the Hand of Creation.

The laboratories spread across Eris Star, scattered throughout Beast World Continent, those inhumane experiments, those beastmen who were transformed, replicated, and used as expendables—all started from here.

The ground beneath was gray-white, clean enough to almost reflect people’s shadows. The air was filled with a mix of disinfectant and something indescribably burnt, stinging their nostrils.

In the square before the laboratory building, guards stood densely. They wore uniform white combat suits, held weapons, showed no expression, their eyes vacant, like machines programmed with specific instructions.

Shen Tang was contemplating how to infiltrate, when Xiao Jin suddenly froze beside her.

His breathing became heavy and rapid, his fist clenched tightly, his knuckles turning white. Those golden pupils stared intently at the two towers, something heavy and hard-to-suppress boiling in their depths.

This was Shou Jin’s memory.

The Shou Jin who was imprisoned in the laboratory, treated as a test subject, tortured repeatedly.

The memory Xiao Jin buried deep and rarely touched, was fully invoked by this building.

Shen Tang sensed his unusual state and gently held his hand.

Xiao Jin’s fingers were cold, slightly trembling. He clasped her palm, his grip almost excessively strong, as if clutching onto something life-saving.

"I’m fine." His voice was very low, carrying a barely noticeable tremor, "Just... not very comfortable."

Shen Tang didn’t speak, just squeezed back firmly.

Next to them, Shen Li glanced at Xiao Jin, didn’t say anything, just patted his shoulder.
