From then on, every time Cynthia ran into a colleague, she would boast that Alana was her son’s girlfriend.

When her colleagues all praised Alana for her beauty and good nature, she beamed as if she were the one being praised..

This scene was witnessed by Darla, who had just walked out. She was instantly filled with rage, clenching her fists tightly.

Thinking of Cynthia’s deliberate coldness and aloofness toward her just moments ago, and now her fiery enthusiasm toward Alana, and on top of that, Cynthia actually introducing Alana to so many colleagues as her son’s girlfriend, what kind of position did that put her in?!

Anger and jealousy threatened to consume Darla entirely.

Her eyes were bloodshot. She was so filled with hatred!

Back home, Darla couldn’t contain herself and let it all out in her bedroom.

Agnes heard the commotion and immediately knocked on Darla’s door. “Darla, what’s wrong?”

Darla tried to control her emotions, but she simply couldn’t contain them; jealousy made her eyes red.

She couldn’t believe she had actually lost to a woman who was good for nothing.

She had always felt she had the upper hand against Alana.

She had investigated Alana, her parents had abandoned her as a child, and she’d grown up with her grandmother in the countryside. Aside from her grandmother, she had nothing.

Unlike her, Darla Gordon, born into a wealthy family, raised by parents who doted on her from childhood. Whether in status, background, or intellect and talent, she was leagues ahead of Alana. Why would she lose to a woman who was inferior to her in every way?

It was so frustrating!

Agnes didn’t hear Darla’s reply, so she couldn’t help but push open the door. As soon as she opened the door, she saw the floor was a complete mess.

It was littered with all sorts of bottles and jars of cosmetics and skincare products.

Darla sat in front of the vanity mirror, her face contorted into a rare, ferocious expression.

She had never seen Darla display such a terrifying side before. She couldn’t help but ask with concern, “Darla honey, what’s wrong?”

Upon hearing this, Darla suppressed the emotion on her face.

She turned to Agnes, who was standing in the doorway, her expression growing colder. “Aunt Agnes, who gave you permission to enter my room without my consent?”

After all, Agnes wasn’t Darla’s biological mother, she was merely the stepmother her father had married.

All these years, Darla had never once called her “Mom”; she had always addressed her as “Aunt Agnes”

Even though, all these years, Agnes had treated her like her own daughter.

But even so, Agnes would never be her biological mother, and no matter what, she could never treat Agnes as her own mother!

On the contrary, she actually harbored hatred for Agnes. If it weren’t for this woman’s arrival, her biological mother would never have been replaced by Agnes!

But Darla wasn’t foolish enough to confront Agnes. She had always been clever since childhood. When she learned her father intended to marry this woman, despite her deep aversion, she didn’t oppose Agnes.

What if Agnes turned out to be the kind of malicious stepmother who, behind her father’s back, hurled insults at her or even tried to drive a wedge between her and her father? That would be disastrous.

Fortunately, Agnes wasn’t the wicked stepmother she’d feared. Over the past decade or so, Agnes had always treated her well and never mistreated her in any way. Therefore, she was willing to maintain a superficial relationship with Agnes.

But that didn’t mean she approved of Agnes. It simply meant she hadn’t yet found an opportunity to kick this so-called mother out of the Gordon family.

But now that she’s grown up and has the power to do so, sooner or later, she’ll make sure Agnes is completely kicked out of the Gordon family.

Agnes also realized she’d been too abrupt. “I’m sorry. I was just worried about you. I heard noises coming from your room and was afraid something had happened to you, so I rushed in.”

She paused, then glanced at the mess on the floor. “Are you okay?”

Seeing the concerned look on Agnes’ face, Darla could only see it as feigned concern.

She didn’t believe Agnes truly cared about her; rather, she was merely going through the motions out of respect for her father.

This hypocritical, affected woman looked just like...

For some reason, as Darla looked at Agnes’ face, she had a vague, lingering feeling that she resembled someone.

Agnes was very beautiful, especially in her youth. Both her face and figure were top-notch; she was one of the few women Darla had ever seen who truly struck her as stunningly beautiful.

No wonder she had captivated her father so completely. Although she was getting on in years now, thanks to her meticulous self-care, she still retained her charm.

Especially her skin, fair and smooth, even better than that of a thirty-year-old woman.

Darla narrowed her eyes and studied Agnes for a long moment. “Aunt Agnes, before you married my dad, were you divorced and did you have a

daughter?”

Agnes’ expression shifted slightly.

She hadn’t told anyone about this, except Henry. How did Darla find out about her divorce and her daughter?

It wasn’t that she didn’t want to talk about it; it was just that Henry had told her not to bring it up in front of Darla.

Agnes strictly followed Henry’s instructions, remaining silent, neither confirming nor denying it.

But Darla had already guessed something. She had investigated Agnes long ago and discovered that Agnes had been divorced and had a daughter.

Agnes Martin. Alana Martin...

They shared the same surname, and... they looked so much alike.

Was it a coincidence, or... were they actually mother and daughter?

Moreover, she had looked into Alana, she was from the same hometown as Agnes.

Same surname, strikingly similar appearances, and now they’re from the same place. Could this really be a coincidence?

No wonder, when she first laid eyes on Alana, she felt a sense of familiarity, as if she’d seen her somewhere before. It turns out... Alana bears such a striking resemblance to Agnes, whom she’s spent every waking moment with, at least fifty to sixty percent alike!

What’s more, Alana had perfectly inherited Alana’s youthful beauty and figure, she had even surpassed her.

If Alana really is Agnes’ daughter, then Darla’s had some incredibly bad luck, how did she end up entangled with this dreadful mother-daughter duo?

Agnes stole her mother’s man, and now Agnes’ daughter, Alana, has stolen the man she loves.

These two... mother and daughter, were both so despicable and shameless, always stealing other people’s men!

Darla grew angrier the more she thought about it.

“Aunt Agnes, don’t stay silent. I know everything about your past!”

Seeing the strange look on Darla’s face, Agnes hesitated before saying,

“Darla, no matter who told you about my divorce and that I have a daughter, I want you to remember that right now, you are my only daughter.”

Darla gave a cold laugh. “Is that so? Aunt Agnes, if me and your biological daughter both fell for the same man, would you help me, or would you help your biological daughter?”

Agnes’ expression shifted. “Darla, why would you say that? How could my daughter possibly compete with you for the same man? You two would never even cross paths!”

Darla watched Agnes’ reaction; it seemed she truly knew nothing about her biological daughter, Alana.

She really was a selfish and hypocritical woman, willing to abandon her own biological daughter for wealth and prestige.

“I’m asking you... just answer my question: will you help me, or will you help your own daughter?”

Agnes choked on her words.

It was the first time she’d seen Darla act so aggressive.

Although she had always suspected Darla had never regarded her as a mother, Darla had never been this blunt with her before.

Darla watched Agnes’s reaction with a cold smile. “Why aren’t you speaking? Didn’t you promise my father you’d treat me like your own daughter? Now, you can’t choose between me and your biological daughter, who was abandoned over a decade ago?”

Agnes’ breath caught, and her lips moved with difficulty. “Darla, don’t put me in this position.”

Darla’s smile was forced. “How is this putting you in a difficult position? Is it so hard for you to choose between me and her?”

Agnes hurried to explain, “No, that’s not it. In my heart, you’re both my daughters. I don’t want to choose between you...”

Darla sneered, “Is that so? But haven’t you already made your choice? You abandoned her and chose my father, so why are you pretending to be so noble now?”
