Heir of Synthesis: The World Mage
Chapter 349: Own Plans (2)
Priam and Dandara reached space. Without wasting any time, Priam brought out the Flying Warship. The two boarded it and shot away at high speed.
None of the other 12 ships could be seen on the horizon. After all, Priam’s entire army had arrived on that planet aboard a single Flying Warship.
This was part of their defensive strategy. The ships had been designed for orbital attacks in emergency situations, and since they had never been activated before, they still had all their power available.
Their strength could cover a gigantic area of the planet. Even Sorcerers with power equivalent to Sages would be wiped off the map if they were caught off guard and didn’t have extraordinary defenses.
Confident that they would win the main battle without needing this resource, Priam and Dandara divided the 12 ships between the other two planets that were also enemy targets.
On Dandara’s home planet, Arvid and three of her beasts were stationed. On the other planet, Mo Lan and the remaining three beasts stayed.
Those two were the commanders responsible for the temporary defense of those locations. Not only did they receive six ships with overwhelming offensive power to use strategically and buy time, but they were also supplied with tactical inscriptions and pills.
During the three days of preparation for the war, Priam ended up getting stuck in the test to obtain Ananke. Meanwhile, Dandara worked tirelessly: she planned every detail and acquired everything she could to prevent the worst.
It was a huge advantage to have such a competent vice-leader, capable of making up for what he couldn’t do. They complemented each other and, together, built the opportunity for this possible victory.
Even so, believing that Arvid and Mo Lan could wipe out two large armies of Sorcerers attacking their planets was madness.
At most, with an immense effort, they could prevent the locations from being completely overrun for a few hours.
That was why Priam was racing against time. He estimated that two hours would be the limit they could endure. Beyond that, with every passing minute, the chances of everyone dying multiplied.
At this point, there was very little time left before the initial two hours were up.
Mo Lan had the greatest defensive potential, because Priam had returned her ancestral sword to her. That weapon had been created and nourished in her home world at the cost of the lives of countless beasts.
In the past, Priam had demanded that she hand over the sword to prove she wasn’t like the others of her species. To his surprise, she actually did it.
Now, with the weapon back in her hands, Mo Lan could sacrifice the blade’s entire essence in exchange for a tremendous increase in power.
Arvid didn’t have a trump card on that level. That’s why he had been assigned to Dandara’s home planet, since Priam and Dandara would prioritize rescuing that planet as soon as they finished the main battle.
The other planet would have to withstand the enemy advance for longer.
Within a few minutes, the Flying Warship crossed the distance and reached the orbit of Dandara’s home planet.
The moment Priam sensed the energy in the environment, he swallowed hard.
98% of the area was filled with dense corruption.
Only a small region in the center remained untouched, holding out bravely, but already on the verge of falling.
Around the planet, six ships floated aimlessly, drained and looking like rotten wood. Everything Arvid had at his disposal had already been exhausted.
"We made it in time, LET’S GO!" Priam grabbed Dandara’s hand and dove toward the planet’s surface.
In the central forest, a dome-shaped barrier nearly three kilometers across was still standing.
However, it was completely cracked, covered in spiderweb-like fractures spreading in every direction.
Arvid hovered in the sky, right at the center of the dome. His body was covered in blood, and only a few dozen small, colorful runes orbited around him.
*BANG!*
*BANG!*
Explosions echoed at an aggressive rhythm. With every strike against the barrier, a rune exploded. It was like a countdown clock ticking toward the end.
On the ground, countless beasts were huddled together, staring upward in sheer distress.
There was no sign of Dandara’s other three beasts from the other world... they had already been killed.
Arvid was the only survivor.
After nearly dying while trying to drive the enemies away, he had managed to retreat and was now focusing all his strength on maintaining the barrier for as long as possible.
It was at that exact moment that he opened his eyes and looked up at the sky.
A light-green star appeared, tearing through the atmosphere.
Priam released Dandara in midair and plummeted toward the ground.
He activated the Yin and Yang amplification Power Rune. It wasn’t as powerful as something focused exclusively on one of the two energies, but it was perfect for giving him the control and potential he needed at that moment.
His aura changed drastically.
His entire wind and fire Bloodline burned in perfect synchronization.
*Whirlwind Flare!*
The entire planet changed color. It was as if an annihilation coming directly from the world’s fundamental laws were descending, ready to extinguish all life there.
Priam spread his arms.
Four colossal blades emerged from the firmament.
**KBOOOOOOM!**
Fire and wind merged, devastating the army of Sorcerers gathered around the barrier in four directions.
Even while unleashing unimaginable power, Priam maintained absolute control over its movement, making sure the impact didn’t directly hit the barrier’s inscription.
Unlike Rumbling Heavens, this attack worked better when concentrated and focused. Priam had already been making modifications to it, getting closer and closer to transforming it completely into an original technique of his own.
With practically all the enemies gathered in a single area, dealing with them became incredibly easy.
The entire planet trembled. The inscription barrier was hit head-on by the lateral shockwave.
With a sharp, deafening sound, the inscription completely exploded. Even so, at the very last moment, it managed to block the final surge of energy from entering.
"FATHER!"
Dandara hit the ground and roared. Her eyes swept across the crowd until they found that severely wounded wolf. She took a deep breath, relieved.
Of course, Arvid had needed the help of the natives to hold out.
This time... at least 80% of the beasts inhabiting the planet had died.
A piercing pain tore through Dandara’s chest. But... there was nothing that could be done. Neither she nor Priam were invincible gods, and they had done the best they could. At least some of her race had survived, and her father was still alive.
"AAAARGH!" Dandara roared, consumed by an insane frenzy.
She wielded both her daggers and shot forward.
Priam’s devastating attack had killed most of them instantly, but some Sorcerers had survived with severe injuries. The two needed to eliminate the survivors as quickly as possible so they could head toward the other planet.
In the sky, Priam floated. All the corruption spread throughout the environment began to move, converging toward him as if he were a black hole.
He absorbed all the energy to the limit. Then, he charged forward with everything he had, attacking at his maximum speed.
...
It took them nearly half an hour to make sure not a single Sorcerer remained alive.
Dandara didn’t even exchange a word with her father. She quickly grabbed Priam’s arm, and the two hurriedly shot back toward the Flying Warship.
...
Within a few minutes, they finally reached their final destination.
But...
Priam’s eyes widened as he sensed the situation there.
"Fuck..." He swallowed hard.
One hundred percent of the area had already been completely overtaken by corruption.
Even though they had done everything as quickly as possible... they hadn’t arrived in time.
