Heir of Synthesis: The World Mage

Chapter 309: Fatal Weaknesses

Suien’s staff moved forward. In that same millisecond, the three rune spears shot forward, tearing through the air and leaving trails of light behind.

*BOOM! BOOOM!! BOOOOM!!!*

The explosions that followed were like a storm.

Suien’s spears advanced like unstoppable drills, piercing through and blowing up the fireballs one by one. They were obviously much more powerful than a single fireball. However, the sheer volume of Meien’s flames seemed endless.

For every fireball destroyed, three new ones emerged, filled with Yang, creating a scorching wall that clashed head-on with the offensive art of the inscriptions.

Above, the three spears spun in perfect sync, constantly changing their attack angles and piercing through the fiery inferno in a deadly dance.

Suien’s level of control was horrifying. She wasn’t just casting spells; she was guiding three independent constructs through the air, adjusting the trajectory of each spear individually while maintaining the stability of the thousands of invisible runes supporting them.

It was like a drummer on Earth playing a chaotic rhythm, where each limb performed a completely different task without missing a single beat.

The successive explosions generated such brutal pressure that, in less than five seconds, the stage’s protective barrier couldn’t hold up anymore.

*CRACK!*

The structure shattered like glass.

With her eyes wide, Elder Frizza shot toward the sky. She released a massive wave of her own Ether, hurriedly shaping a gigantic new shield to protect the crowd.

The battle continued for an entire minute, without a single second of respite.

In normal clashes between mages, when magical power is evenly matched, the fight inevitably devolves into exchanging physical blows.

However, the experts in the audience noticed something bizarre: neither of them took a single step forward. They remained motionless in their original positions, only adjusting their stances, wielding their staffs, and pouring out their power.

It was a pure battle of control, will, and strategic ability.

Three minutes passed, and the clash only intensified.

Suien’s roots surged from the ground like gigantic snakes, blocking the flaming projectiles escaping from the center and trying to crush Meien from the side. She could still control all the roots at once!

In response, Meien’s fire intensified, transforming into blazing shockwaves that, thanks to the Yang gained from the pill, incinerated the roots until they turned to ash.

After five minutes of uninterrupted combat...

...the sound finally ceased.

The dense smoke and suffocating heat took a while to dissipate.

When the audience could finally see the martial stage, the shock was absolute. The imposing structure had been reduced to a flat terrain of molten rock, cracks, and black soot.

A deathly silence took over. Cold sweat trickled down the spectators’ faces.

What kind of monsters were those two? Were they really Level 6 Mage Disciples?

Everyone thought practically the same thing.

In the upper stands, even the Level 9 Mage Disciples had trembling hands, knowing that if they had been on that stage, they would have lost after just a few blows against either twin.

Only a Mage Master could defeat one of them.

Priam felt immense pride in his chest. The potential of the two was somewhat similar to his own back when he still lived in the mortal plane.

After several seconds of silence... nothing happened.

The twins continued staring at each other, both drenched in sweat and breathing unevenly.

The audience immediately noticed: the fight had ended because both of their fuel reserves had been completely exhausted. Both their Ether and their bloodline energy had been burned down to the last drop in the previous clash.

In a normal battle, with no energy left, the outcome would be decided by the brute strength of fists and weapons.

However, the two opened their mouths in perfect sync:

"I give up."

No one in the arena reacted immediately, overcome by the distinct impression that they had heard wrong.

In the sky, Elder Frizza blinked in confusion. It took her a few seconds for her mind to process what she was seeing.

"What the hell are you two talking about?!"

Both turned their faces toward the Elder above.

"I matched my sister’s Soul Power." Suien declared.

"And I matched hers using the power of my profession." Meien agreed in the same tone.

Then, they repeated in unison. "We’re tied. So, I give up."

"What?! What kind of stupidity is this?!" Frizza roared, visibly furious. "Fight with your fists! Whoever’s left standing wins! Stop talking nonsense!"

Hearing the order, both shook their heads negatively.

"No. We only competed based on our talent and control. We would never hurt each other," Meien said with crystal-clear calm.

Suien firmly nodded. "Yes. Physical attacks are forbidden. If we hurt each other, our big brother will be very disappointed."

The crowd in the arena fell into deep confusion. Weren’t they attacking each other with everything they had just seconds ago?

Suddenly, the more perceptive ones realized in astonishment: They had been fighting without using one hundred percent of their power!

They deliberately held back so that, if one of them overpowered the other, they could stop the attack before causing any injuries.

That required blind trust. Both of their futures were on the line—a valuable place in the Divine Plane. In any other situation, at least one side would try to take advantage of it and suddenly use everything they had, winning at any cost.

With so much at stake, even between family, doing something like that would be understandable.

"Humph! What childish nonsense!" Frizza scoffed bitterly. "Older brother? Is this the person you said you wanted to find? Don’t be so foolish and naive. How many years has it been since this guy last gave any news? If five years have passed without a single sign of life, the chances of a mere Mage from the mortal plane being dead are enormous. Ten years? It’s an absolute certainty. You..."

"SHUT THE FUCK UP, YOU BITCH!" Suien roared thunderously, interrupting the Elder with a frenzied glare.

The crowd in the arena widened their eyes in complete shock.

"GO FUCK YOURSELF! WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE TO SAY THAT?!" Meien roared as well, her voice trembling with uncontrollable fury.

Priam, in the middle of the crowd, slapped a hand against his forehead.

Both of them had bloodshot eyes from rage, and their auras were completely chaotic. All this over just a few words?

Everything indicated that normally, they were refined, calm, and well-mannered. But they had fatal weaknesses that could never be touched. Priam was definitely one of them. Whenever that happened, they completely lost their reason.

*BUZZZ!*

Suddenly, the sky above the capital city trembled and darkened.

The audience swallowed hard, their hearts racing in terror.

Above the martial stage, Frizza’s face twisted into a hideous scowl. Her full power erupted into the heavens.

She was an elite Level 9 Mage Master from a highly prestigious sect in the Divine Plane. In the mortal plane, her power was absolute—even if a thousand Level 9 Mage Masters from this place joined forces against her, they would be swept away with ease.

"I won’t repeat myself..." Frizza spoke each word with suffocating pressure. "You have five minutes to fight and decide the winner."

Everyone in the arena sighed in relief. This Elder wouldn’t stoop so low as to retaliate against the insults of two young women.

Frizza continued in an icy, cutting tone: "If you don’t, I guarantee that neither of you will leave here alive today."

Suien and Meien narrowed their eyes, clenching their fists in fury.

"Then come at us, you old bitch!" Suien roared, pointing her finger directly at the sky.

Meien maintained a deadly cold expression and added, "If you have the guts to kill us, then try. But I guarantee you this: when our older brother comes back, you’d better still be alive... or your entire race and everyone you’ve ever known in your life will cease to exist."

"Hahaha! A mere mage from the mortal plane?!" Frizza laughed with utter disdain.

The twins let out subtle, dark smiles.

"You think your little clan and your life are worth anything?" Meien said. "Back then, our older brother single-handedly destroyed the entire Polar Flame Planet. Now, that place is nothing but a dead world."

The entire arena froze.

Polar Flame.

It was a famous planet that everyone there knew. The survivors’ accounts were clear: more than a decade ago, a single enraged young Mage had attacked the planet with overwhelming power.

No one had dared to confront him, and everyone fled for their lives. When a group tried to return months later, the entire planet had been reduced to ashes and lifeless rubble.

In the stands, Priam snorted.

’Are they really blaming me for what the Immortals did?’

At the time, he had merely scared the inhabitants away. It was the Immortals who appeared afterward and possibly destroyed all life on the planet to make sure nothing was hidden.

But... in fact, the blame for everything was kind of his.

"A young Mage from the mortal plane?" Frizza said coldly, shaking her head. "Who would believe such nonsense? Only a Super Genius-level Mage Master, born in the Divine Plane, could even dream of accomplishing such a feat. You have no idea how difficult it is to become a Mage Master. It took me 250 years just to reach this stage."

Thousands of wind runes began covering the sky above Frizza.

"I’ll count to ten for you to start fighting. My patience has run out."

The two twins snorted at the same time. In perfect sync, they raised their arms and flipped the Elder off.

"9... 8... 7..."

Ten seconds passed, and Frizza snorted in fury.

"Perfect. I am a woman of my word. Since you’ve chosen this fate, the third-place finisher will officially become my disciple."

She waved her hand.

*BUZZZ!*

The sky flashed with threatening light as gigantic wind blades condensed.

"Disappear!" Frizza ordered coldly.

The blades trembled in the air.

Suien and Meien lowered their heads and clenched their fists, a glimpse of sadness crossing their eyes.

Until...

’You two really worry me...’

A soft, calm voice resounded directly in both of their minds at the same time.

Both of them raised their eyes in utter shock.

Right above them, a figure materialized in the air, directly in the path of Frizza’s attack.

In his hands...

There was a simple black branch!

*POW!*
