Chapter 114: Chapter 114: Berserker’s Might (part 1)
For a brief moment, he seemed unable to comprehend what had happened. Blood spilled from his mouth as the force of the charge lifted him off the ground, leaving him impaled on the creature’s horn.
"NO!"
A teammate screamed.
The Gravehorn Reaper continued forward for several more meters before violently tossing its head aside. The adventurer’s body was flung from the horn and crashed onto the ground.
He did not get back up.
The Mad Wolves stared in horror.
They had entered the second floor expecting to be dangerous, but none of them had imagined losing a teammate so suddenly. They had barely managed to defeat the Gravefang Beasts, and now a far more terrifying creature had appeared and killed one of their companions with a single charge.
"HEALER! CHECK HIM!"
One of the Guardians shouted desperately, stumbling toward the fallen adventurer.
But the healer who rushed over only needed a glance to understand the situation. The wound was devastating, and the adventurer had already stopped moving.
There was nothing left to heal.
"He’s... he’s dead."
Those words fell like a hammer upon the remaining members.
For a moment, the entire battlefield seemed to fall silent.
Then Kyle heard the healer’s trembling voice.
His eyes slowly shifted toward the body lying on the ground.
He had brought these people into the dungeon. They had followed his instructions, trusted his judgment, and fought alongside him countless times. Every one of them was a member of the Mad Wolves, a team he had built through hardship and bloodshed.
And now, one of them had died right before his eyes.
Something inside Kyle snapped.
His grip tightened around the hilt of his greatsword until his knuckles turned white. The muscles in his arms bulged, and the Berserker aura surrounding his body began to surge violently.
His blood started to boil.
"YOU BASTARD!"
A furious roar erupted from Kyle’s throat.
The Berserker class was known for its explosive combat power, and intense anger only fueled the violence surging through him. His thoughts became consumed by the sight of his fallen companion, while the energy within his body grew increasingly turbulent.
The Gravehorn Reaper turned its exposed skull toward him.
The dark purple flame inside its rib cage flickered as it prepared to charge again.
Kyle didn’t wait.
He activated Berserker’s Might once more, forcing the skill’s power through his already tense muscles. His aura flared, and the ground beneath his boots cracked as he launched himself toward the mini-boss.
The Gravehorn Reaper lowered its horns, preparing to meet him head-on.
But Kyle was no longer interested in testing its strength.
He wanted to knock the monster away from his teammates.
His greatsword swept through the air, carrying the full force of his enhanced physical power.
"GET AWAY FROM THEM!"
BOOOOOOM!
The collision produced an explosive shockwave.
Kyle’s greatsword slammed into the side of the Gravehorn Reaper’s massive head, striking with enough force to redirect its charging body. The creature’s front legs lifted off the ground as its enormous frame was flung sideways, crashing through several dead trees before smashing into the forest floor.
The impact sent dirt, shattered branches, and fragments of bone flying in every direction.
Kyle landed heavily on the ground, his greatsword held firmly in both hands. His chest rose and fell as the Berserker aura continued to surge around him, while his eyes remained fixed on the monster he had just sent flying.
"Everyone, get away from it!" he roared.
His voice was filled with fury, but his orders remained clear.
The surviving members immediately obeyed.
Although they were worried about their captain, none of them dared to argue with him in that state. They had fought alongside Kyle long enough to understand his personality. He would never abandon a teammate, and he would never allow a monster that had killed one of his people to walk away unpunished.
However, they also knew how dangerous the creature was. Even with Kyle’s extraordinary strength, fighting the Gravehorn Reaper alone was a tremendous risk.
"Captain, that thing broke through the combined barrier of three Guardians! You can’t fight it without support!" one of the Guardians shouted.
Kyle didn’t turn around.
"Just keep your distance and protect the others. If you come any closer, I won’t be able to fight without worrying about you getting caught in the crossfire."
"But..."
"That’s an order!"
His voice echoed through the Dead Forest, leaving no room for argument.
The Guardian clenched his teeth, then reluctantly retreated with the others. The surviving members of the Mad Wolves formed a defensive line at a safe distance, ready to intervene if Kyle’s situation became desperate.
Kyle finally turned his full attention toward the Gravehorn Reaper.
The enormous undead stag was slowly rising from the wreckage of the dead trees. Its body was covered in cracks and damaged flesh from Kyle’s previous attack, but the dark purple flame burning inside its rib cage flickered as death energy gathered around its wounds.
The shattered bones gradually shifted back into place.
Its injuries were healing.
Kyle’s expression darkened.
"So you can recover from that, too. Fine. I’ll just have to destroy you before you can heal."
The Gravehorn Reaper lowered its head. Its enormous horns scraped against the ground, scattering dead leaves and broken branches. The purple flame inside its chest suddenly burned brighter, and a terrifying roar erupted from its exposed skull.
"GRAAAAAAAAAHHH!"
The roar swept across the forest, carrying a wave of death energy that made the surrounding mist tremble.
Kyle felt an oppressive force press against his mind. Fear tried to creep into his heart, and his muscles momentarily tightened as the monster’s roar disrupted his concentration. Even with his Berserker’s Might active, he could feel the unnatural influence trying to weaken him.
However, the sight of his fallen companion remained fresh in his mind.
He tightened his grip on his greatsword.
"Do you think a little noise is going to frighten me?"
His Berserker aura erupted violently.
The oppressive feeling did not disappear entirely, but Kyle forced himself to advance despite its effects. His class was suited for direct confrontation, and once he entered the heat of battle, his determination only grew stronger.
The Gravehorn Reaper responded by stomping its front hooves against the ground.
BOOOOOOM!
