Heavenly Dungeon: My Subordinates Are All Woman Monsters
Chapter 112: A Way To Kill The Gravefang Beast
Chapter 112: Chapter 112: A Way To Kill The Gravefang Beast
As the nearest creature lunged toward him, Kyle swung his greatsword with tremendous force.
BOOM!
The blade struck the monster across its upper body, sending it crashing into a dead tree. The impact shattered several bones and tore away a large section of its decayed flesh.
For a brief moment, the Gravefang Beast lay motionless.
Then the death energy around it began to gather once again.
Kyle narrowed his eyes.
"So you can recover even from that, huh?"
The Gravefang Beast slowly rose, its broken jaw hanging at an unnatural angle as it released another low growl.
Kyle tightened his grip on his greatsword.
Although his previous attack had inflicted considerable damage, the creature showed no signs of fear or pain. It simply lowered its head and prepared to charge at him again.
’Ordinary attacks won’t be enough if they can keep regenerating like this.’
Kyle had fought many undead monsters at the dungeon in Lufast city, but most of them had obvious weaknesses. Skeletons could be shattered, while weaker undead would collapse once their cores were destroyed.
Wasting time testing their endurance was not an option. His teammates were already struggling to maintain their defensive formation, and if the three Guardians exhausted their mana, the entire group would be surrounded without adequate protection.
"Captain, the barrier won’t hold forever!" one of the Guardians shouted. "They’re concentrating their attacks on us, and their bites are damaging the defensive layers faster than we can reinforce them!"
"I know! Hold your position a little longer!" Kyle replied.
He shifted his gaze toward the Gravefang Beast approaching him. It suddenly accelerated, its decaying body moving far faster than earlier.
Kyle did not retreat.
Instead, he activated one of the skills he had learned after obtaining his Berserker class.
"Berserker’s Might!"
A surge of energy erupted from his body.
His muscles tightened, and a powerful aura enveloped his limbs. The greatsword in his hands seemed to grow lighter as his physical strength increased, while the pressure radiating from his body intensified enough to make the nearby adventurers glance in his direction.
Berserker’s Might was one of the three skills Kyle had learned from the five skill of the book he had obtained with his Berserker class. The class offered several powerful abilities, but learning every skill required time and resources.
Against an enemy that could regenerate, he needed enough power to destroy it before its body had an opportunity to recover.
The Gravefang Beast lunged at him.
Kyle stepped forward.
His greatsword swept through the mist with tremendous force, cutting through the creature’s outstretched forelimb before continuing toward its neck.
SPLASH!
The blade passed cleanly through the decaying flesh and severed the monster’s head.
Its skull flew through the air before landing several meters away, rolling across the withered grass. The headless body continued moving for a brief moment, its claws scraping against the ground as if it still intended to attack.
Then it collapsed.
Dark energy leaked from the severed neck, but unlike before, the surrounding death energy failed to restore the creature. Its body twitched several times before becoming completely motionless.
A few seconds passed.
The Gravefang Beast did not get back up.
Kyle glanced at the fallen monster before turning his attention toward the remaining creatures.
"So that’s how you kill them. You have to destroy the head."
He had finally discovered a reliable method of dealing with these troublesome undead. Although he could not be certain whether every Gravefang Beast possessed exactly the same weakness, severing its head had clearly prevented this one from regenerating.
One of the Mad Wolves, who had witnessed the entire exchange, immediately shouted toward his teammates.
"Everyone, aim for their heads! The captain just killed one by cutting it off!"
"Are you sure?" a mage asked, his staff still pointed toward the monsters.
"Look for yourself! That one hasn’t moved since its head was severed!"
The adventurers quickly turned their attention toward the fallen creature. Sure enough, while the other Gravefang Beasts continued to recover from their injuries, the headless monster remained motionless on the ground.
The discovery immediately lifted some of the pressure weighing on the group.
At least these creatures were not truly immortal.
Kyle raised his greatsword and looked toward the surrounding Gravefang Beasts. His Berserker’s Might was still active, and the energy coursing through his body made him feel considerably stronger than before.
"Everyone, listen carefully! These monsters can regenerate using the death energy in the forest, so don’t waste your attacks trying to wear them down. Aim for their heads and sever their necks whenever you get the opportunity. If you can’t do that safely, target their legs and keep them away from the formation!"
He paused before adding, "And don’t let those howls catch you off guard. If you lose concentration at the wrong moment, they’ll tear you apart!"
"Understood, Captain!"
The Mad Wolves adjusted their tactics immediately.
The Guardians continued maintaining their protective barrier, but instead of trying to withstand every attack indefinitely, they began directing the creatures toward the melee fighters.
The mages changed their spells to restrict the Gravefang Beasts’ movements, while the ranged fighters carefully aimed at exposed necks and skulls.
Their previous attacks had been intended to inflict damage. Now, every strike had a specific purpose.
A Gravefang Beast rushed toward one of the Guardians, its jaws snapping at the magical barrier. Before it could bite down again, a wind spell struck its legs, throwing off its balance and forcing it to stumble sideways.
"Now!"
A swordsman rushed forward and swung at its neck.
His blade cut deeply into the decaying flesh but failed to sever the head completely. The Gravefang Beast immediately retaliated, twisting its body and snapping its jaws toward the adventurer’s chest.
The swordsman’s expression changed.
Before the creature could bite him, another Mad Wolves member struck its skull with a heavy mace. The impact shattered part of its cranium, forcing it to recoil long enough for the swordsman to retreat behind the Guardians’ barrier.
"Damn it! Its bones are tougher than they look!"
