Chapter 1699: Chapter 1699. The Girls Discuss Shang Qinqin.

Angel looked at the formation in front of her with a pondering expression. "...Why doesn’t it work?"

Mirrory, floating around the room as always, chuckled as she looked at what Angel was building. "It’s difficult to affect natural conception, Angel. Not because conception itself is a complicated matter, but because natural conception between cultivators goes through incredibly complicated processes. Why do you think it is so hard to get pregnant? Only when the egg and sperm that share perfect compatibility meet will conception happen. Forcing it will only result in two outcomes."

Angel tilted her head. "Two?"

Mirrory nodded. "Three if you want to add the lucky result. However, the grand majority of the time will cause the child created with artificial methods to lack a natural balance of energy, making them very likely to be unable to cultivate."

Angel nodded in understanding and asked. "What about the second?"

"Stillbirth."

Angel flinched, and Mirrory explained. "If the conception is artificial, the placenta’s function might weaken or twist in unexpected ways. There is a chance that even normal training could affect the fetus inside and kill it. So, as I said, creating a formation that helps get a sure-fire fertilization is something that even gods are trying to develop."

Truthfully, the best example was Yasenia. The only reason Tatyana managed to get pregnant with Yasenia was that the ritual she used was something developed by top-tier powerful individuals who reigned above the masses before the Heavenly Cataclysm. Individuals of the Divine Heavens who stood near the pinnacle.

Even then, Heaven struck down and caused Yasenia to be born as a mortal, heavily injuring Tatyana during the process back then. Again, if it hadn’t been Tatyana but a normal demigoddess, what Tatyana suffered would’ve resulted in the mother’s death.

"So, I understand your desire to have more of Yasenia’s children and help the other girls as well. However, be satisfied with the times you get pregnant naturally."

Angel placed her hand on her stomach, gently caressing it. She was currently pregnant, but Evelyn and Andrea had yet to become pregnant. It was a matter of luck, so there was nothing they could really do.

In the future, Andrea or Evelyn might be pregnant while the rest of them are not. Therefore, Angel was trying to create a formation that aided conception. To her surprise, it was impossible.

Mirrory floated over and patted her head. "Cheer up. You have not created a pregnancy formation, but what you have created does aid a little bit. You can probably increase the chances of natural fertilization by one percent or so."

Angel groaned. "One percent...? Additive or multiplicative?"

Mirrory chuckled. "Multiplicative, of course."

Angel deadpanned. "So, if I have a 1% chance of getting pregnant, this formation will increase it to 1.01%?"

Mirrory smirked. "Exactly~."

Angel flopped backward in a starship form, looking at the ceiling. "Is that even a lot?"

"Well, it’s not bad. Is it? You could sell this formation for a very high price everywhere you go." Looking at Angel, Mirrory spoke. "Alright, time to train, so stand up. You need to get beaten by your copy for a bit more today."

Angel didn’t even complain as she stood up and prepared. Her current floor was the 928th floor. Halfway through the golden copies. She was the second-highest among all the girls. Actually, before Yasenia took the copies seriously, Angel had advanced the most among all six of them.

The training went nicely, and Angel managed to go up a step to 927th. When she returned, she noticed the girls gathered and joined them with a smile. "You are all here."

Evelyn, knitting a comfortable dress without extra effects, turned over with a smile. "You are here, Angel. How was it?"

"One percent is the most I can do. If it were Tatyana, the percentage might increase to 1.2 percent, but not much higher."

Evelyn blinked. "That’s a lot, isn’t it?"

Angel shook her head. "That’s a multiplicative addition, not the total."

Evelyn burst into laughter. "Well, I expected as much. Heaven gets pissy when it comes to natural birth and similar matters."

The rest of the girls nodded at her comment. None of them held Heaven in too high of a regard. Of course, they didn’t despise it. Still, they understood just how sensitive it was to matters that went beyond the normal bounds. So, they didn’t feel respect but slight annoyance toward them.

Andrea sighed. "I still remember our Sixth Realm Tribulations. They were truly abnormal."

Kali placed a few refreshments on the empty plates and smiled. "We are being pulled along with Yasenia. I doubt Heaven is happy about it."

"Speaking of getting pulled along... What do you girls think about that girl?"

Cecile blinked and turned to look at her. "Shang Qinqin?"

A nod followed as confirmation. Angel swallowed the pastry and spoke, her face thoughtful. "That girl is not bad, but how to say it... She doesn’t feel special? I think that she would do best as a maid if she wanted to join."

Andrea thought otherwise. "She is indeed nothing too special. However, her brain works well in certain areas. Better than ours ever could. I think that her uniqueness lies more in her expertise."

Cecile, for once, didn’t stay too silent and answered at length. "What she knows, we can learn easily. Even if she has a certain talent, it isn’t unreplicable. I bet that if one of the maids tried their best, they would be able to mimic or even surpass her in less than 50 years. Shang Qinqin, for now at least, doesn’t really fit into anything more than a maid."

Evelyn looked around and crossed her arms. "Hey. I’m not that special either. If Yasenia chose her lovers with specialness in mind, I wouldn’t be here, would I? I think that we can still wait and see. Qinqin is a good girl, and her heart is cunning but not evil. I think she has something none of us has, which is mercantile shrewdness. It is something she has learned deeply, isn’t it?"

Cecile glanced her way. "Evelyn, when Yasenia chose us, she was not searching for someone special. She was searching for anyone who caught her eye to fill a quota Tatyana gave her. You were someone who caught her eye, so you got together. Now it is a different time, situation, and even world. You can’t really compare her standards back then with her current ones."

Evelyn had to agree with that point. Still, she felt a touch bitter. "So... If it was now but not back then, you think Yasenia wouldn’t have chosen me?"

Cecile sighed, moving over and using her wing and arm to hug Evelyn. "Even I would not have been chosen, Evelyn. Before meeting Yasenia, what was I? A slightly talented, emotionless woman who used archery. No one special. Of us, I feel that only Angel, Andrea, and Kali have something special that even the current Yasenia would choose as a partner. Not to mention Soluna, who crushes all of us in that specialness."

Looking Cecile’s way, Kali crossed her arms. "I disagree. Evelyn had always been someone who, while common, never really feared approaching Yasenia. In a way, she is like the current Qinqin. Yes, Evelyn was starstruck by Yasenia’s looks, but she didn’t approach her lustfully. Moreover, Evelyn is intelligent, and she is the one who makes Yasenia laugh the most among us, among many other things. So, I do feel that Qinqin does have a chance if she manages to continue pushing for a while."

Seeing everyone throwing their opinions, Andrea decided to join. There was no bad vibe between them, and they were just talking about their opinions. So, she didn’t rush to deny or calm anyone down because there was no need to.

Andrea commented. "In my view, Shang Qinqin, Star Forge, and even some of the current maids could’ve perfectly become Yasenia’s wives. Yasenia’s heart is just too closed now. I am sure that neither Kali, Angel, nor I would’ve entered the current Yasenia’s sight because there is no sight to speak about. Yasenia is just not searching for a new wife actively."

The girls became thoughtful. It was true that Yasenia was not looking at other women. She was a very loyal woman, and her entire heart was focused on them. It was for this very reason that none of them felt uncomfortable with Qinqin’s existence. Their trust that Yasenia would not deviate without telling them about her feelings first was firm.

Therefore, the girls would not stick their noses in as long as those trying to woo Yasenia didn’t have evil or just lustful intent. If it was those two feelings, the girls would not hesitate to draw their weapons and threaten or go further.

Therefore, Qinqin’s existence was... in limbo. For them, she was there, but at the same time, she wasn’t. They treated her like an acquaintance, but never anything more. At least not until Qinqin proved that she was serious about following Yasenia over anything else.

Cecile pondered and conceded. "It is true. Still, if Shang Qinqin truly wants to become something more than a maid, she will need to enter Yasenia’s closed heart somehow. As Andrea said, even I am unsure if I would be able to do so if Yasenia and I were strangers."

The girls smiled and nodded.

Evelyn giggled. "Honestly, Shang Qinqin is a breath of fresh air. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen someone like Soluna and stick so close to Yasenia." Then she shrugged as she commented. "I honestly want to see if she can truly do it."

Cecile frowned. "Do you have a strange fetish or something?"

Evelyn rolled her eyes. "Of course not. I want to see if she can do it properly. Yasenia is ours, and ours alone. Anyone who wants to join will have to rob the words of acceptance from us. On that, I am the same as you girls. I just feel curious to see if the new challenger will manage to crack and sneak through the steel wall of Yasenia’s heart."

Cecile’s frown relaxed as she looked at the girl she was hugging. Sighing, she smiled slightly. "You are always so unique in these matters. Honestly, I would prefer if Yasenia were not that attractive."

Evelyn chuckled. "Well, you are her soulmate. It is normal for your possessiveness to be the highest among us..." Looking sideways, she grinned. "Although that little girl with giant tits over there is good competition for you, Ice Queen."

Angel glanced at Evelyn and raised her eyebrow. "Forget about touching them for a year, Evelyn. Let’s see if you learn to control your tongue next time."

Evelyn’s face collapsed, and she wailed. "NOOOO!!!"

The girls burst into laughter.
