Chapter 234: Men’s talk
Chapter 234: Men’s talk
Lord Moon stopped a few steps away from Elion, his towering frame casting a slight shadow over him as he looked down at him with narrowed eyes.
The man was at least six feet five inches tall, while Elion was a bit over six feet and one inch currently, and his build was even broader, so the difference was very noticeable. That, however, did not seem to intimidate Elion.
The silence stretched on as both men decided they did not want to speak first.
“So…” Lord Moon finally broke the silence, though there was a clear edge to his tone, “you are the one.”
Elion tilted his head slightly. “The one?” he asked calmly, while trying to look as clueless as possible.
“The one who thinks he can touch my daughter,” Lord Moon replied immediately, his gaze hardening as he took another step forward, closing the distance between them to a mere one metre.
Elion didn’t move. “I don’t think,” He said simply, “I do.” The reply was quite snarky and unnecessary; for some reason, he felt like he needed to.
A vein popped on Lord Moon’s forehead, but he let the comment slide.
“You might have healed her. But don’t misunderstand,” he added, his eyes narrowing again, “that does not mean I approve of you.”
“I didn’t ask for your approval,” he paused before adding, “And I didn’t do it for you, you would do the same if your wife was in the same situation, no?”
Elion said all this with a light smile on his face.
Lord Moon’s aura flared slightly, the pressure in the room increasing for a brief moment as his temper spiked. This boy actually dared to call Aria his wife in his face!
Honestly, Elion hadn’t planned to mess with Aria’s father so much, but the old man’s short fuse was tempting; it made it really difficult for Elion to resist teasing the older man.
He looked at Lord Moon’s angry features calmly for a moment, then spoke without hesitation, his voice steady and firm, “I already consider Aria my wife,” he said plainly, not even glancing at anyone else as he continued, “and nothing you say or do will convince me to think otherwise.”
“You’ve got quite the mouth on you,” he said, his voice dropping slightly as his flaring aura calmed just a little bit. The thing Elvis couldn’t quite understand was how this green boy with nothing but his youth got the guts to think he stood on the same level as him.
“And you’ve got quite the temper,” Elion replied without missing a beat.
“You think saving her just now gives you the right to act however you want?”
Elion’s expression didn’t change. “I never said that,” he replied calmly. Elion added to his statement, “But I wasn’t asking for permission either.”
Moon’s jaw tightened as he muttered under his breath, “You’re just an ignorant young man…” He exhaled slowly, “…a little fish in a pond with no concept of how deep the oceans are.”
Now that hurt Elion’s ego a little bit, “I’m quite big, you know. I’m sure your daughter can vouch for my skills.”
“…You little—”
“El! Father!”
Aria’s voice cut in suddenly.
Both men paused.
She had pulled away slightly from her mother’s embrace, her eyes still a bit red from crying but now focused on the two of them, her expression caught somewhere between embarrassment and urgency.
“Please don’t start fighting here…” she said, her voice softer now, though there was a hint of pleading in it.
Lord Moon clicked his tongue. He stared at Elion for a few long seconds before he spoke again.
“…Do you love her?”
Elion didn’t hesitate. “Yes, of course.”
“…Then get stronger,” he said finally, his voice quieter now, but still firm, “strong enough that this never happens again.”
“…It won’t.”
Then Moon turned away. “See that it doesn’t,” he muttered as he walked back toward his wife and daughter.
Elion chortled lightly at that. He had a faint smile tugging at his lips.
Aria’s father was… Weird.
After a moment, Elvis straightened slightly, regaining some composure as he looked at Elion again, this time with a more controlled expression.
“The name is Elvis Moon,” he said, his tone measured, “Lord of Stormbay City.”
Elion nodded lightly.
“Pleased to meet you… father-in-law.”
A vein popped instantly on Elvis’ forehead. “You—”
Before he could continue, a soft voice cut in.
“Ivy Moon,” Aria’s mother said simply, her expression calm as she introduced herself.
“Elion Nova,” Elion replied, giving both of them a light bow with an immaculate posture.
Elvis opened his mouth again, clearly ready to continue, “And what exactly can you—”
The doors suddenly burst open.
Several people rushed in, carrying injured participants, their voices hurried and tense as they called out for help.
Beatrice clicked her tongue loudly.
“Out,” she said flatly, waving her hand dismissively.
“This isn’t a place for leisure; take your conversations outside.”
She didn’t even wait for a response as she turned back to the incoming patients, already preparing to work again.
Elvis frowned slightly but said nothing more, and after a brief pause, the group began to move out together.
Aria, Elion, Mira, Elvis, and Ivy all left the infirmary together. Elion let Aria’s parents lead the way as they stepped out into the corridor.
Aria naturally slipped to his side, her hand brushing against his arm before she lightly held onto him.
Mira, on the other hand, walked on his other side, keeping a small distance as usual, her posture composed and her expression calm, not showing any obvious affection as Aria did.
It was odd that she always did this in public, acting while also being the more perverted of the two girls.
Aria, who was more softcore in bed, showed her feelings much more openly without a care for who was watching.
Elion glanced at her briefly.
’Strange…’
Aria’s father kept glancing back at Elion as they walked, his gaze sharp and filled with clear displeasure, but Elion only returned those looks with a smug smirk, because he could clearly see that Ivy was holding onto Elvis’ arm quite tightly, like she was restraining a dangerous beast on a leash, which honestly made it hard for him to take the man seriously.
After walking for a while, Elion decided to excuse himself and the girls. He really wasn’t in the mood for family bonding right now, but just as he was about to speak, Elvis stopped and looked at Aria instead.
“Come with us,” he said, “we haven’t spoken in so long, we also need to find you something proper to wear,” He pointed toward the arm that was missing a sleeve now,” and Aurelia misses you.”
Aria blinked, then her eyes lit up slightly. “Aurelia is here?”
Ivy nodded.
“She is, and we are quite lucky she left with one of the servants during that match; she wouldn’t have liked seeing you in that terrible state.”
Aria’s smile faded slightly as she was reminded of what had happened, her gaze lowering, “…Un.”
She turned to Elion and leaned closer, her hand lightly gripping his sleeve. “I’m sorry…” she whispered, her voice trembling, “I said I would beat him and yet…”
She hiccupped slightly, like she might start crying again. Elion leaned forward and kissed her forehead.
“Don’t worry,” he said simply, “I’ll deal with that guy myself tomorrow.”
Elvis’ eyes narrowed slightly at that, clearly catching that there was more to this situation than he thought, but he didn’t say anything yet; instead, he pulled Elion slightly to the side one last time.
“This is far from over,” he said in a low voice, “I saw your fight, I will admit, you are a little bit talented, I’ll give you that, but that means nothing if you cannot provide for my little Aria.”
His gaze hardened.
“You will need to do much more to prove that you are worthy of my daughter, otherwise I will forcefully take her away from you until you can prove your worth.”
“You will do no such thing!”
Aria’s voice cut in sharply, making Elvis flinch as he immediately moved to her side. “I was just joking around with him, my dear,” he said quickly, forcing a smile, “you know… men’s talk.”
He looked back at Elion. “…Right, Elion?”
Elion almost laughed, but he held it in. “…Right, father-in-law.”
“I would like to talk more with you and get to know my daughter’s partner better,” Ivy said smoothly, stepping in before things got messy again, “so when you get the time, please come see us on our balcony or our hotel anytime.”
Elion stepped forward and gave her a light… respectful kiss on the cheek. “Of course.” He caught a whiff of her rich fragrance.
Ivy chuckled lightly as her red lips curled up in a smile. “You are quite the gentleman… Aria is a lucky girl.”
She then looked at Mira. “And you too, young lady.”
Mira stepped forward with a small curtsy. “You are too kind,” she said politely. “Mira, Gale.”
Elvis was about to start complaining again when he realised that Mira was Elion’s other woman, but in dramatic fashion, he was pulled back before he could act on it.
After that, they began to leave. Aria walked away with her parents as they went up a set of stairs, leaving Elion and Mira behind.
Just before she disappeared, she glanced back at Elion one last time, clearly reluctant but still following her parents.
Elion let out a breath once they were gone and then turned to Mira, a small smile forming as he pulled her gently to his side.
“Do you want to leave for the day?” he asked.
He really didn’t feel like staying to watch the proceedings anymore.
If he saw William’s face again today, he might actually murder the bastard, and he won’t even regret it.
“Un,” Mira nodded softly, leaning into him as they walked together down the way they had come, taking a different flight of stairs.
Elion would not be surprised if people got lost often in this maze of interconnected stairs.
It was honestly disappointing that the coliseum didn’t have elevators like the academy, because walking down all those stairs felt terribly normal, and after everything that had happened today, normal felt like the worst thing imaginable.
Elion sighed lightly.
“When we build our own large home, I’m making sure to put in more than a few elevators.”
Mira giggled quietly.
