Chapter 387: I Have A Deal (II)

"Oh? What happened?" Ruan Chanchan had heard a lot about the disastrous night market from Xie Daiyu, but she had no idea what happened at the market. She only knew that it was too bad.

Chief Xie shook her head with a wretched smile on her face. "What else? We prepared some things that we could have sold at the market, but before we could even set up the stall, we saw the black snake tribe selling the same thing! It was the meat of a rare beast that we took quite some time to hunt, but the black snake tribe were rotten to the core. They hunted even more than us and even announced in the market that we stole the meat from their tribe."

"Because of this reason, we were chased out of the tribe before we could even offer an explanation. After all, our tribe was the weakest back then. Who would offend the black snake tribe for our sake?"

Because of this very reason, Chief Xie was having even more of a headache. After all, she knew that even if she came up with something, the black snake tribe would rush to copy it.

Ruan Chanchan nodded when she realised what had happened in the past.

"Anyway, we are not going to keep hanging on to the past. Since the white sheep tribe has sent us an invitation, they must be trying to make amends..."

"Or they might be trying to humiliate us even more." Ruan Chanchan pointed out. She shrugged carelessly when Chief Xie looked at her and explained, "I am not being pessimistic but thinking about it carefully; I still think that they are just waiting for us to make a joke of ourselves. They clearly know that the black snake tribe will try to copy us again and still sent an invitation. Isn’t it just a form of an intimidation tactic?"

Ruan Chanchan was not silly. She knew what was going on. The white sheep tribe must be jealous that they formed an alliance with the killer whale tribe. However, their tribe were known for their neutrality, so they would never directly go against the big bear tribe. Since that was the case, they decided to use the black snake tribe to embarrass the big bear tribe and even slap the face of the queen. As long as they could do that, they would be able to satisfy their own twisted jealousy.

She shared her views with Chief Xie, who also realised that the invitation that she thought was just a simple invitation turned out to be a trap. She started sweating and had no idea what to say. She looked at Ruan Chanchan and said to her, "Chanchan, what are we going to do? Those people from the white sheep tribe are really too treacherous. Just because our tribe formed an alliance, they are actually stepping on us like this. They are really too much!"

Her eyes turned red when she thought of how these people were scheming against her.

"What are we going to do?" She asked with a sort of desperation in her voice. She thought that the people from the white sheep tribe were actually extending an olive branch, but they were actually trying to cause trouble for her and her tribe!

Ruan Chanchan pursed her lips. "I have a plan...that can help but..."

"But?"

"But I need a sort of guarantee." Ruan Chanchan thought of the good things the elders had done in the past, and her eyes flashed with a hint of annoyance. "Chief Xie, I am not being harsh, but the elders have done many wrongs to me in the past. I have taken care of the tribe many times, but the elders have never given me any benefits. That’s fine; it was my fault that I never stated that I needed benefits in exchange in the past, but now things are different."

Chief Xie lowered her head, looking a bit embarrassed. She knew that she was in the wrong as well. She cursed the elders for causing trouble for no reason and did not know what to do at the moment. She closed her eyes and waited for Ruan Chanchan to continue.

"Of course, I am not going to blame the entire tribe for their actions. I am not that unreasonable, but I think that I should receive some benefits this time around. After all, Daiyu is pregnant, and I need to take care of him. Of course, I have enough resources to take care of him, but as a pregnant mer, he still needs some more nutrition. So I need to be a little selfish."

"What are you expecting?" Chief Xie asked with a frown on her face.

Ruan Chanchan thought about it a little and started: "Since the tribe is not going to hand me anything, I believe there is nothing wrong with me asking for sixty per cent of the earnings. Plus, I want to get meat in exchange for the remaining forty per cent that I will be handing to the tribe. Don’t start with me about how the tribe has taken care of me; you and I both know that Zeqiu was the one who has taken care of me. If anything, I am being very generous to the tribe by leaving forty per cent of earnings without getting anything in return."

Listening to Ruan Chanchan, Chief Xie felt a bit troubled. It was not that what Ruan Chanchan was saying was wrong. She hesitated before agreeing with Ruan Chanchan. Seeing the hesitation in the eyes of the woman, Ruan Chanchan sighed. She said in a low voice, "I am not saying that you need to give me an answer right away. You can talk and discuss about this matter with the elders and then give me an answer; it’s not like I am in a hurry."

The ones in a hurry were the elders and the tribe; since that was the case, she was not worried.
