Chapter 2416: Theories And Practices.
The bartender said slowly, “This theory on how the Authority of the pathway of telepathy can be subdued is based on the foundation that the virtual flesh can be used to infiltrate and control the Mind Palace.”
“If this foundation is true, then the best method that we telepaths can use is to create a lot of virtual flesh and gain control of them.”
“It is believed that if a telepath gains control of a lot of virtual flesh, they will be able to gain control of the Mind Palace.”
“No one knows when the critical threshold will be completed, but many guess that when the amount of virtual flesh controlled is greater than the size of the Mind Palace, telepaths will be able to use the virtual flesh to subdue the Mind Palace.”
Legion frowned and said, “That sounds straightforward to me. If it is as simple as you say, why has no one managed to create enough virtual flesh to subdue the Mind Palace?”
The bartender chuckled and said, “That’s a funny question. The answer is that no one has enough spiritual energy to create something as large as the Mind Palace. You’ve seen for yourself how large it is.”
“No single person can create enough virtual flesh to gain control because of the limitations of spiritual energy. So we have resorted to other means, which is enslaving other telepaths and using them to control more virtual flesh.”
Legion became enlightened then. He said, “I see. That’s why Gerald joined the war against the Church of Justice and died.”
The bartender said, “That’s right, but it wasn’t the main goal of controlling telepaths. The main goal has always been to control telepaths to create a wide network of control that might one day rival the Mind Palace in size. Sending off our telepaths to die in war is counterproductive to achieving that goal.”
“But this time was different because the god of disaster promised a very strong telepath to help them subdue the Mind Palace in exchange for helping the Wessex kingdom win the war. So it became worthwhile to sacrifice some telepaths in the war.”
Legion asked, “Did the god of disaster promise to help everyone or promise to help a single person? I’m asking because you should be the one who enslaved Gerald with your cooking.”
The bartender laughed before replying, “What can a legend have to do with a god? Of course I wasn’t the one the deal was made with. All I did was sell Gerald to someone stronger. I have nothing to do with the quest for the Mind Palace. That’s for stronger telepaths to fight for.”
Legion looked around at the bar where people were eating and drinking, completely oblivious to their situation, and said, “So all of these people are just toiling away for nothing.”
The bartender shrugged and said, “No one forced them. In fact, no one coerced them. They were the ones who were something that they didn’t know if it was safe or not. They even paid for it.”
“Besides, the control is not absolute. It is just hidden commands in their minds. The commands won’t run for most of the time, so they live their lives normally most of the time.”
“And finally, I don’t think the pursuit of the Mind Palace is a scam. Personally I find some truth in it because some of the powers of the Mind Palace can be used through the virtual flesh.”
Legion perked up when they heard the last statement. They asked, “What powers are you talking about?”
The bartender shook his head in amusement and said, “You truly are a new legend. You are so green it shows.”
Then he answered their question, “If you try to use the Mind Domination divine ability, you will realize that you can use it on the virtual flesh. If you do so, you will be able to transport the power of your divine ability through the Mindscape to any part of the world.”
Legion said, “Oh. I guess I’ve never heard about it because of the blockade of the Mind Palace.”
The bartender nodded. “Yes. When you do it, you will find the experience to be very interesting.”
He sighed and said, “It will make you yearn to become a god. After all, if borrowing the power of a god is so good, then becoming a god must be better.”
Legion stood up to leave. As they left, they said, “Thank you for the information.”
The bartender continued cooking as he replied, “You’re welcome.”
After Legion left, he looked up to make sure that they were gone. Then he returned to cooking.
The conversation that the two of them just had was mental. It didn’t involve sound waves, so the other telepaths in the bar didn’t hear them. This meant that no one heard that they had been enslaved through the food and drinks.
Not that it would have mattered if Legion was hell-bent on telling these people. The information would have created a riot, but the riot would be incredibly short-lived.
Since the legend already controls these people, it will be easy for him to make them forget what they heard. So telling them that they have been enslaved wouldn’t have changed much about their situation.
Fortunately, Legion wasn’t a busybody. They were far too busy to care about the enslavement of those people.
And it is like the legend said, no one forced them to eat the compromised food. Legion agrees with him on that. But this also means that Legion can’t trust everything he just told them.
Legion-1 sighed and said, “I am jealous of the ability of judges to tell the truth now.”
They don’t have a way to tell if what the legend told them was the truth or not. So they can’t just take him at his word and believe him.
Without a special divine ability to determine the truth, they could only go around acquiring the same information from various sources.
