Chapter 2412: Clash of Rules.
She knew Legion as the new legendary undying who was instrumental to the downfall of Reinfield City. This is something she is sure about.
So she knew that this situation was the worst it could be and that Legion truly possessed both the pathway of undying and the pathway of killing at the legendary rank.
This makes the Legion very difficult to kill and also very dangerous to be around. That’s, of course, if Legion can use the advantages of both pathways very well without running mad.
So she used that approach to try and dissuade him. She said, “There is no need to go so far just for some energy spring and a spring of life. We can talk about this.”
“Let’s talk about this. There are two of us and one of you. Even if you are formidable, you can’t stop both of us from escaping. If one of us escapes, or worse, both of us escape, you will be risking your sanity for nothing.”
She wasn’t lying either. She would like to kill Legion, but now that Legion has shown himself to be a killer, it has suddenly become unwise to risk her life for revenge.
The reason she didn’t want to seek revenge from the angel of killing was because he could kill her. So she chose to seek revenge from the easy target.
But Legion has shown that they are by no means an easy target. So she began rethinking her revenge.
If it were any other person, they would listen to her and take her advice. In fact, a normal person will try to talk things out before risking their life in a life-and-death battle.
But Legion isn’t normal by any means. They didn’t listen at all. All they had on their minds was how best to use these two to meet their advancement requirements.
Instead of speaking, what came out of their mouths was a roar. The roar wasn’t normal shouting either. It was the effect of their rank 6 Psychic Howl divine ability.
The roar targeted mostly the warrior. The sound waves of the roar penetrated his body and sank deep into his mind. Then the shockwaves in the roar began to scrape off layers of his mind and even crack his mind.
This caused the warrior to hood his head and scream in pain. As for the noble, she was fine because she had defended herself with her domain divine ability.
Because of the protection of her divine ability, she didn’t feel anything from the roar at all. If not for the slight dip in her spiritual energy when the remnants of the roar struck her, she would have thought that the roar was normal.
But she knew that the roar wasn’t normal and even saw how the legendary warrior was in pain because of it. This confused her because she didn’t know any divine ability of killers that could cause pain to others just by shouting at them.
Even so, she didn’t let herself dwell too much on the question. She didn’t bother to help the warrior either. She simply turned her back on him and ran for her very dear life.
But before she could go far, someone appeared and blocked her way. The person who appeared was someone she recognized. It was another legendary ancestor of the noble families of Reinfield City.
She couldn’t believe her sight. At first she thought that he had come to help her. So her eyes lit up as she said excitedly, “It is good that you are here. With the three of us here, the three of us might be able to defeat him.”
But what answered her was the cold eyes of her fellow legendary noble. Then she heard him say, “The nobles 100 meters from me are not allowed to use any means to protect themselves.”
Even before she could be shocked, the barrier that she had formed around her shattered and disappeared. This made her realize that something was very wrong.
Her eyes widened in fear as she stepped back from him. She asked, “What’s wrong with you? Why are you helping him?”
But all he said was, “The nobles 100 meters around me aren’t allowed to move.”
This rule caused both of them to freeze. As two nobles, the rules fell on both of them and made them vulnerable.
He could have said that the nobles 100 meters around me aren’t allowed to move except for me. But by exempting himself, he would make the rule more complicated and require a lot more energy to sustain.
That kind of rule can also be exploited by her. She would have been able to say, “I am you.”
By changing her identity, she would have used the exemption to exempt herself from the rule. But the rule now works on every noble, and she can’t set a rule that she isn’t a noble, so she had to stay frozen as she fell from the sky.
Legion glanced at where she was falling. Then they manipulated their blood to rush along the ground towards where she would fall.
Before she could fall to the ground, their blood had formed a small pool where she would fall. That pool of blood then grew sharp spikes that rose to meet her and even solidified.
So the pool of blood transformed into a pile of red sharp spikes. These spikes were also enhanced with the Sever divine ability, so she was quickly impaled by the spikes.
Even if she recovered her mobility and could also somehow use her domain to protect herself, it was already too late because the spikes had entered her body.
The spikes absorbed her blood and grew even bigger. They also branched into her body like a network of roots. So there was no way she was going to recover from this.
She was dying, but Legion didn’t want her to die yet. They still had a use for her, so they used the Imprison divine ability and threw a ball of spiked black chains onto her.
