Chapter 2321: Inevitable Clash With Vault Of Gold.

The energy spring must be a large one like the type that cities are established around while there is no requirement for the spring of life for them to fuse with and advance to rank 7 of the pathway of undying.

In order to prepare for this advancement requirement, they sent their slaves to gather information about these two objects. Their slaves went to locate them first before they began investigating everything related to them.

During their investigations they found the location of the spring of life and also discovered that the Vault of Gold is in control of it.

This means that in order to absorb the spring of life, they will need to fight a religious organization that prioritizes money above all else and is supported by a god. If they somehow succeed in absorbing the spring of life, then they would have offended the vault of gold and will be pursued by them.

This thought made them think of Black Knife, their first assassin slave, and his plan to rob the vault of gold of some energy water.

His plan had seemed foolish and suicidal to them back then. They didn’t think he had to go to that extent to get energy water, and they were right to think that at the time.

They know now that he orchestrated that heist in order to kill a rank 4 being in order to meet the advancement requirement to advance to rank 4 himself. So his plan wasn’t as unnecessary as they thought.

There were five rank 4 godclads in Ivory City. They were affiliated with the Ivory family, the Black Market, the White Tower, the Vault of Gold, and the Society of Fortune Tellers.

These five epic godclads were Bushwick the noble, Silver Mirror the walker, a mage, a merchant, and Feya the Fate Weaver. Black Knife determined that the merchant was the easiest to kill, so he decided to attack the transportation convoy of the vault of gold.

He avoided the mage because she rarely left her tower and because her tower was covered head to toe in arrays. He avoided Bushwick because Bushwick was too strong for him.

He didn’t bother to target the fate weaver because she would sense the danger and because her base had already been converted into a death trap using her Marionette divine ability.

He didn’t target Silver Mirror either because the Walker had the Phase Shift divine ability and could easily escape. So that left the epic merchant for him to kill.

The epic merchant in charge of the vault of gold in the two usually accompanies the transportation convoy so Black Knife would be able to kill him there. If the epic merchant wasn’t accompanying the transportation convoy, then attacking it will draw the epic merchant out.

As long as the epic merchant doesn’t have the protection and support of their base of operations, Black Knife has the confidence to escape even if he failed the assassination. So his plan was better thought out than it seemed at first glance.

Now Legion is faced with the same dilemma. But their situation is worse because they don’t have much of a choice in who to target and because the target they have to choose is epic but legendary.

They can continue looking for more springs of life instead of targeting the one they found thanks to the undying godclad that they killed. But odds are that any spring of life they find will be already occupied, and they will be occupied by the vault of gold.

As a religious organization that likes money, the vault of gold likes to take control of springs of life and wild energy springs. They do this extensively, so any springs of life that Legion finds will likely be already under the control of the vault of gold.

This makes their clash with the vault of gold inevitable. To top things off, because the spring of life produces a limited supply of water of life and because the water of life can help legends heal their injuries and help legends not lose control, the water of life has become important enough to be guarded by a legend.

Legion-1 could only sigh about this and say, “I guess one more legend won’t matter since we are already going to fight the nobles of Reinfield City for their energy spring.”

Legion-2 encouraged him. “Don’t be so pessimistic. It is unlikely that the entire legendary manpower of the nobles will be guarding their energy spring. They should only have one or two guarding it.”

Legion-5 agreed by saying, “That’s true. As long as we hit them fast and hard, we will be able to escape without the reinforcement of other legends. Then we can run towards the location of the spring of life and take that too. Once we become legends ourselves, we won’t need to be too afraid of other legends.”

Legion wasn’t so sure about the success of this plan, and he made his thoughts known very quickly. “You make it sound easy, but from the way I see it, there might be some hiccups and complications.”

“For example, how are we going to defeat one or two legendary godclads and also absorb a large energy spring fast enough before we are besieged by more legendary godclads?

Legion-5 replied confidently, “I’m sure we will find a way.”

Legion-2 also added, “If we can’t find a way, we can also come up with a plan to preoccuppy the legends while we absorb the energy spring.”

Legion-4 said excitedly, “Or we can go around killing the legends one by one in secret. That way, when we make a move on the energy spring, there will be no one to stop us.”

Legion-6 didn’t agree with that suggestion. He said, “It will be very difficult to find and kill every legend in the city secretly because a fight with a legend is likely to create a lot of noise. It might not be impossible to find every legend in the city, but I doubt we can kill all of them secretly and quietly.”
