GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?

Chapter 2312: An Excuse And An Explanation.

Chapter 2312: An Excuse And An Explanation.

The leaders of the Golden Hammer gang also don’t allow normal members of the gang to get too involved with the activities going on in the base.

Not even Jake, their patron noble, has the privilege of knowing what is going on in the base and they don’t report to him either. So the Golden Hammer gang has the shroud of secrecy.

This shroud of secrecy allows them to do whatever they want without having to explain to anyone. But this is not so for the Black and White gang and the Light Temple gang.

The Light Temple gang, for instance, is riddled with spies. All of these spies have a general idea of who and what enters and leaves the base of their gang. The spies also have a general idea of the size of the gang in terms of manpower.

So if anyone goes missing in the gang, the spies will catch wind of it. This made Legion decide that rather than use rank 3 godclads secretly, they should do it openly.

They went ahead with this plan because they needed more test subjects lately. They needed rank 3 godclads to test their ideas on.

After a month of research, Legion has discovered many ways to increase the mastery of divine abilities quickly. This many possible solutions is mainly because they are not the first people looking for shortcuts to mastery.

Many people have done their research on the matter, and many people have come up with different kinds of solutions. Unfortunately, no one has been able to come up with a perfect solution. Every possible solution has its fair share of side effects.

Sometimes, these side effects are so bad that they are not worth it. Even Legion decided to give up on many options because of the danger involved.

One of the options they gave up on us was the fastest way to gain mastery. This option is to mutate. Anyone who mutates will gain a sudden boost in their mastery of their divine ability. This has been confirmed many times.

The price for gaining this mastery is losing control and losing one’s consciousness. This is why Legion gave up on the idea, but many people haven’t given up on it yet.

Many people believe that as long as they find a way to maintain their consciousness, they will be able to eat their cake and have it. They are right to believe this, but no one on record has been able to solve the problem of losing control yet.

Even so, many people haven’t given up on this idea because the process of losing control and mutating is the same as the process of Legends taking on their divine form when they go all out.

In fact, the mutated form is usually similar to the divine form. That is, what godclads mutate into is similar to what gods look like.

So many epic godclads believe that mutating to gain mastery of their divine ability is the right way for them. But Legion doesn’t think so because they know for a fact that even Legends lose control.

Actually, it is a fact that the stronger godclads are, the more likely it is for them to lose control and mutate. This risk is even greater for gods who are always in their mutated form.

This risk of losing control is why the god of killing ran mad and why gods rarely act. Legion read about the last part in books. In that book, they learned that gods rarely move into action because they don’t want to lose control.

So after knowing all of these, they don’t have any faith that a bunch of epic beings will be able to solve the problem of losing control and one’s consciousness. They believe that they may be able to solve that problem with their innate ability, but they don’t think anyone else would be able to solve the problem.

They still tried to help some people retain control, though. It is what they used many rank 3 godclads for.

They helped many rank 3 godclads advance to rank 4. But this time, they didn’t try to prevent mutation.

They even actively encouraged mutation in order to see if they could help their slaves regain control and recover. But all of their efforts were in vain.

Of the 20 people or so that they helped mutate, not one of them could regain control. They made them come to a unanimous conclusion.

Legion-1 said, “For mutation to occur, one must first lose control. But once they lose control, it is nearly impossible for them to regain their control.”

“The only reason why Legends can control their mutated form is because they never lost it in the first place. So it is more like they retained mental control as they mutated.”

Legion-6 suggested, “And the reason legends retained control of their mutated divine form is probably because their spirit is powerful enough to resist the corruption of mutation and because they have at least 50% mastery of all of their divine abilities.”

Legion-1 continued what he was saying, “So in conclusion, it is impossible for epic beings to retain control when even legends are struggling with it. Anyone who can do it must have a special innate ability.”

Then Legion-8 completed what they have learned by saying, “It is also impossible for anyone to regain control after losing it. It doesn’t matter how special they are or what innate ability they have. As long as control is lost once, even gods are lost.”

This last conclusion is why they didn’t dare to try mutating and hoping to retain control through their innate ability. There won’t be a problem if they remain in control during the process. But if they lose control, then they are gone forever.

There is just too much to lose for them, and they have seen many people lose themselves after mutating, so they decided not to try it at all. They would rather wait until they become legends to see if their innate ability will influence their control of their mutated form.
