GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?

Chapter 2300: Meat Grinder.

Chapter 2300: Meat Grinder.

Ivory Town was attacked by a tiny army of a hundred. But all of the soldiers in the army were godclads. This makes each one of them worth at least ten mortals.

Some of the soldiers were even rank 4 while the bulk of them were rank 3. So they were a formidable force capable of sweeping away a small town.

Fortunately, there was someone like Commander Isaac there in Ivory Town to resist the enemies. Even so the attack caused a lot of casualties for the judges. In order to survive, the judges called for reinforcement.

Reinforcement for the judges arrived quickly. Judges all over the nation responded in fury with some arriving in a matter of days. This infusion of more soldiers tipped the battle in favor of the judges.

In order to recover, the army of nobles also requested reinforcements. Many nobles and knights decided to join the fight because they thought that it would be easy.

The prevalent notion right now is that the nobles are superior and always winning. So no one thought that they would lose. Instead, they thought this was an opportunity for them to make merits, so they came over fearlessly.

When their reinforcement arrived, the army of thr nobles recovered its strength and even had enough strength to defeat the judges. That is in terms of quantity, of course. They were still lacking in quality, specifically the quality of godclads needed to defeat Commander Isaac.

The judges didn’t want to lose, and neither did the nobles. So they kept asking for reinforcements.

More and more godclads came to join the fight either in support of the judges or support of the nobles. They came with anger or pride, but what they found was a meat grinder that turned men into shattered corpses.

This constant influx of soldiers turned what started as a personal vendetta between a noble and a judge into a series of large-scale battles between the nobles and judges.

The noble who came for revenge didn’t claim that he wanted to kill the judges responsible for his daughter’s death whenever he asked for revenge. Instead, he claimed that he was here to fight the judges for Bushwick.

This noble turned Bushwick into a martyr for the cause of freedom of the nobles from the church of judges. He used the death of Bushwick to rally more nobles to the cause, which led to the creation of a large army.

Commander Isaac didn’t need to play such tricks in order to raise an army. Support came for him from all over the world as soon as he raised his hand. He, a godclad walking in the footsteps of the god of justice by wielding the pathways of justice and knighthood, was the banner he needed to create a large army.

These two armies then clashed in Ivory Town and its environs. But unlike the previous battles, the judges were winning most of the battles.

In fact, the judges had never lost badly in all of the fights. At most they drew with their enemies even when they were outnumbered.

In the worst case, the casualties on both sides have been equal. This is because of the prowess of Commander Isaac. This is why he is a great banner to rally judges and why the judges have a higher morale than the nobles.

Today was another day for battle. The army of the nobles had rallied on one side, while the army of judges was on the other side.

Both sides had knights in their army. In fact, knights are the bulk of their army because they are the only godclads who can work together well as a group.

Apart from knights, there are nobles and an assortment of godclads from other pathways on the side of the nobles. But on the side of the judges, the other godclads are mostly judges.

The knights arranged themselves into rows and columns while the other godclads formed special squads behind them or beside them. Then the leaders of both armies stand in front of their respective armies.

On the side of the nobles is a rank 6 noble, while on the side of the judges is Commander Isaac. Commander Isaac is dressed in his armor, while the noble is wearing a luxurious purple robe that doesn’t look fit for battle.

Commander Isaac was riding a great beast that appears to be a hybrid between a rhinoceros and an elephant. The beast was larger than an elephant, but it also possessed natural heavy plate armor all over its body.

The beast was ferocious-looking. It had long barbed tusks and large horns similar to that of a ram on its head.

The beast looked like a carnivore willing to do anything to get its next meal. Only such a beast is worthy of being Isaac’s war beast.

Commander Isaac wasn’t riding the beast just to look cool. He was riding it to make full use of his rank 5 divine ability called Rider.

Rider is a divine ability that enhances the power of a knight and the beast that they are riding. The divine ability combines the might and skill of rider and beast to create a ferocious hybrid of brain and brawn.

This Rider’s divine ability is like the rank 3 Armor divine ability of knights. But instead of binding with a nonliving thing like an armor, it binds with a living thing.

But the rank 3 Armor divine ability is good in its own right. For one, it makes armor weightless for knights. This is just its passive ability, but it is so good that it allows knights to wear heavy armor for long periods of time without becoming tired.

The rank 3 Armor divine ability is why knights are always in armor. They don’t feel tired wearing thick heavy armor thanks to the divine ability.

And when they activate the divine ability, they can consume spiritual energy to enhance the defensive power of the armor so that it withstand attacks that it normally couldn’t.
