Great Li Martial God

Chapter 464 The Visitors

Having heard the young man's words, the Tower Master of the Qingshan Tower let out a sigh and said, "If only your kinsman brother in Great Li shared your way of thinking, I would have far less to worry about regarding the future of the Qingshan Tower and all the remnants of Great Qi."

At those words, the young man lowered his head slightly, an unusual look surfacing in his eyes, "My kinsman brother carries the orthodox bloodline of the Great Qi imperial house within him. How could I ever compare myself to him? I believe he will surely come to his senses in time, and no longer remain infatuated with matters of the heart."

The Tower Master fell silent for a moment, then waved a hand and said, "Let us set his affairs aside for now. Opening the Tomb of the White Emperor is a matter of the utmost importance. I have been planning this for a very long time, and it holds things essential to the restoration of Great Qi. There is absolutely no room for failure."

The young man looked at the Tower Master, his eyes shifting with unspoken thoughts, but he quickly composed himself and asked, "The elderly figures among the ancient city of Jingjue's survivors possess extraordinarily formidable strength. Are you fully confident in our cooperation with them, Tower Master?"

At those words, the Tower Master did not answer the young man's question directly, and instead said with a meaningful tone, "Perhaps they have forgotten that the Tomb of the White Emperor is not only the burial site of the ancient savage beast White Tiger's remains, but also the resting place of our own Great Qi ancestor, the White King."

...

After Li Musheng's group had settled into the residence where they had met the Pavilion Master of the Hidden Kill Pavilion, everything seemed to settle into a period of calm. No overly curious martial world figures from the Western Desert came to disturb them, and the Hidden Kill Pavilion assassins in the surrounding area had all withdrawn into hiding, as though they had never been there at all.

Ah Xiu and the Fifth Elder's group had been continuously searching for an opportunity to leave. After all, the commotion caused by Li Musheng's entry into the city had been enormous, and beyond that, he was undeniably one of the most prominent figures throughout the entire martial world under heaven.

There was no telling how many pairs of eyes were secretly watching him at this moment, and staying by his side was, for them, hardly a good thing. All they wanted right now was to reunite with their own clan members as quickly as possible.

As for the Rakshasa Holy Lord and the Blood Spring Holy Lord, having lost all their dignity, they naturally had no thoughts of leaving Li Musheng's side. After all, having lost their martial cultivation, they would have no way to protect themselves if they left him now.

What both of them hoped for most at this moment was that the Ghost Prison Holy Lord would quickly locate the Yellow Spring Tribe's other two Holy Lords, so that they could recover their martial strength and escape their current, deeply humiliating circumstances.

"Xiu'er, you're this eager to leave me already?"

In the main room of the residence, Li Musheng looked at Ah Xiu before him and raised an eyebrow slightly.

At those words, Ah Xiu appeared somewhat tense and said, "I failed to recognize Your Highness earlier due to my own poor judgment, but I have kept my word and brought Your Highness safely to White Emperor City."

As she said this, Ah Xiu gave a light cough and said, without so much as a blush, "Though I would love nothing more than to remain by Your Highness's side to learn and absorb your peerless brilliance, since this is truly an opportunity countless people throughout the martial world could only dream of."

"Unfortunately, I have important matters that require my attention, and must painfully abandon this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."

Having spent these past days traveling alongside Li Musheng, Ah Xiu, already naturally quite clever, had gained some understanding of what he liked to hear. As such, if she wanted to leave his side, she naturally needed to offer some pleasing words to win him over.

Li Musheng gave a slight nod and looked at Ah Xiu with reasonable satisfaction, "I know exactly what you and the ancient city of Jingjue's survivors behind you are trying to accomplish. As it happens, this is precisely the purpose of my own trip to White Emperor City as well."

At those words, Ah Xiu's expression shifted quietly, though she concealed it well, and asked cautiously, "Does Your Highness also wish to enter the Tomb of the White Emperor? Or perhaps Your Highness is considering a partnership with us?"

But Li Musheng shook his head and said, "I hold the key that opens the Tomb of the White Emperor, and I will soon locate its whereabouts. I have no need to partner with anyone."

At those words, Ah Xiu's expression showed clear surprise. She looked at the extraordinarily confident and assured expression on Li Musheng's face, and her heart felt deeply unsettled.

She understood well enough that Li Musheng had no reason to deceive her, but what she found difficult to accept in the moment was that he had only just arrived in White Emperor City, and yet had already achieved something her clan had spent years planning to accomplish.

"Why would Your Highness tell me something this important?"

Ah Xiu pressed down the emotions rising within her and looked at Li Musheng, asking.

Li Musheng appeared entirely casual about it and said, "No particular reason. You go about your business, I'll go about mine, and neither of us will interfere with the other."

As he said this, Li Musheng shifted his tone and continued, "Even so, I should tell you in advance that once I enter the Tomb of the White Emperor, whatever is inside will be mine to decide."

"If your ancient city of Jingjue's survivors wish to take anything from within, you will need my permission first. Otherwise, you will not be taking anything at all."

At those words, Ah Xiu looked at Li Musheng, who spoke with such shameless confidence, showing no regard whatsoever for the ancient city of Jingjue's survivors, but rather than any hint of mockery, her expression instead grew somewhat worried.

Ah Xiu naturally understood that Li Musheng's words were meant for her to relay back to her clan's elders, and that he genuinely possessed the strength to back up such a claim.

Setting aside his unfathomably terrifying martial cultivation, the very fact that he now commanded the Hidden Kill Pavilion alone made him someone the ancient city of Jingjue's survivors would not want to confront directly.

Even so, Ah Xiu also caught the implication hidden within his words.

He had not spoken in absolute terms, had not outright forbidden the ancient city of Jingjue's survivors from taking anything at all, which meant there was still room for negotiation.

"What exactly does Your Highness want?"

Ah Xiu asked, feigning composure. Li Musheng simply waved a hand and said, "No rush for now. If your people behind you can also find the Tomb of the White Emperor, we can discuss it further then. If you cannot even find the Tomb of the White Emperor at all, then naturally there will be no need for further discussion."

Ah Xiu thought about this briefly and understood Li Musheng's meaning, nodding, "I will relay Your Highness's words to the clan elders without fail. Even so, I would like Your Highness to know that you should not underestimate our ancient city of Jingjue's survivors. The Tomb of the White Emperor is hardly an insurmountable challenge for us."

At those words, Li Musheng glanced at Ah Xiu and said, "Best that it isn't. I hold no small expectations for your clan."

With that, Li Musheng waved a hand and said, "Go on then. The Hidden Kill Pavilion's people will see you off."

At those words, Ah Xiu felt a wave of relief, quickly offered her thanks, and withdrew from the room where Li Musheng was staying.

Watching Ah Xiu leave without so much as a backward glance, Li Musheng rubbed his own face and murmured to himself, "The one bad thing about girls too absorbed in their own ambitions is that even my handsome face can leave them entirely unmoved."

Just then, a voice suddenly came from the shadows outside the courtyard, "Pavilion Master, people from the White Tiger Divine Hall have arrived."
