Chapter 545 -368: Go on the Offensive, Defeat Them One by One

Wu Liangchen smiled at the girl’s earnest expression, then picked up the items and turned to leave.

Watching his retreating back, the girl’s eyes filled with adoration.

At her age, it was only natural to admire heroes, and Wu Liangchen was fighting a behemoth like the Dome Group all by himself, which stirred her heart with even greater admiration.

So the next evening, she closed up shop early. She packed the bread, cake, and fresh milk she had carefully prepared into a bag, and added the beef she had secretly braised during the day.

She had heard that Martial Artists needed to eat meat to replenish their nutrients.

Filled with anticipation, she waited quietly. But even as the early hours of the morning arrived, there was still no sign of Wu Liangchen.

The anticipation in the girl’s eyes gradually gave way to a hint of disappointment. She sighed softly and put the food away. ‘Maybe Mr. Wu has something more important to do, or maybe he’s found a safer place.’

She didn’t know that from the shadows of an abandoned building across the street, Wu Liangchen had been watching quietly the entire time. But he didn’t approach.

He knew the Dome Group’s methods all too well. If they found out this girl had been in contact with him, a bottomless abyss of damnation would surely await her.

So he just watched quietly until the bakery’s lights went out, then turned and left.

Over the next two days, the atmosphere in Zhongjing grew increasingly heavy.

The oppressive policies made the already desolate districts even more deathly still; even during the day, pedestrians were few and far between.

However, amidst this oppressive atmosphere, Wu Liangchen keenly noticed some anomalies.

Some small convenience stores that usually closed early would have their doors left ajar late at night.

At first, he thought it was a trap. But after a careful investigation, he found the stores empty. On the counter or in some inconspicuous corner, there would be supplies he needed—food, drinking water, and the like. The quantity wasn’t large, but the gesture filled Wu Liangchen with a complex mix of emotions.

Clearly, this was the ordinary people of the city, strangers he had never met, silently supporting him in their own way.

But the situation did not improve. Three days after martial law was declared, just as Wu Liangchen was stepping out of one of these unmanned stores, his gaze suddenly hardened, and he whipped his head around to look into the distance.

He could feel two powerful auras rapidly approaching his position.

‘I’ve been exposed!’

The moment the thought surfaced, Wu Liangchen reacted instantly, turning and bolting into the darkness.

Behind him, the two auras gave relentless chase, locked firmly onto his position.

Wu Liangchen darted between the densely packed buildings, his figure flickering in and out of sight amid the alternating neon lights and shadows.

Suddenly, a feeling of extreme danger washed over him from behind!

WHOOSH! A sniper bullet glowing with an eerie blue light screamed through the air, grazing past his ear and slamming into the wall three meters ahead of him!

The hard wall was pierced as if it were tofu, leaving behind a thumb-sized, bottomless, charred bullet hole. The surrounding concrete had even begun to melt slightly from the intense heat.

Wu Liangchen’s pupils contracted. ‘What terrifying marksmanship!’

Immediately, a second and third bullet followed. Each one anticipated his next evasive maneuver, cunning and ruthless to the extreme. If not for his extraordinary combat instincts and his perception of danger being honed to a razor’s edge, he would have been hit long ago.

BOOM! A bullet struck a billboard he had just leaped over, blowing it to smithereens. Wu Liangchen forcibly twisted his body in mid-air to avoid the flying shrapnel, his expression growing even colder.

He knew that marksmanship alone could not account for such precise tracking of his every minute movement at high speed.

He could feel a faint field of Spiritual Power, like a spider’s web, blanketing the district and feeding his real-time location to the sniper lurking in the shadows.

Wu Liangchen took a deep breath, and the Qi and Blood in his body erupted without reservation. A golden light flashed across his skin for an instant, and his speed surged once more.

He no longer attempted to flee in a straight line, instead executing irregular, zigzagging movements between the labyrinthine buildings at angles and speeds unimaginable to an ordinary person.

At the same time, he rapidly analyzed his surroundings, searching for the hidden source of the Spiritual Power.

Several kilometers away, Heart Net stood atop a skyscraper, the night wind rustling his oversized hood.

His eyes were closed shut, his invisible spiritual tendrils spreading across the entire battlefield. Every one of Wu Liangchen’s movements was fed back clearly into his mind.

“Night Owl, the target is moving southeast at high speed. Prepare to intercept in Sector A3,” he commanded calmly over the tactical comms.

“Copy,” came Night Owl’s hoarse and confident reply.

That’s right, the two of them formed a combat team.

After all, Night Owl excelled at stealth, assassination, and marksmanship, while Heart Net’s strength was his Spiritual Power. Their combination wasn’t a simple one-plus-one; it was an exponential increase in effectiveness.

Therefore, in their eyes, Wu Liangchen was already a fish in the net.

However, at the very instant Heart Net was focused on locking down Wu Liangchen and directing Night Owl for the next kill shot, an equally intense sense of crisis welled up from deep within him without any warning!

Acting almost purely on instinct, the field of Spiritual Power around his body contracted abruptly, forming a solid barrier in front of him.

BANG!

The muffled report of a rifle shot echoed, seeming to come from the distant horizon.
