Chapter 532: Chapter 362: Fierce Underground Battle, Cyborg
Liangzi wilted instantly.
"Uh... being in the vanguard isn’t a problem, but this physique of mine..."
Seeing his awkward expression, the others chuckled, and the tense atmosphere eased considerably.
Wu Liangchen grinned and clapped him on the shoulder.
"Alright. You’ll be in charge of supplies for the rear. Keep an eye on the battle and be ready to help any of our injured men."
"Got it! I guarantee I won’t mess up!" The moment he heard he wouldn’t be on the front line, Liangzi’s spirits soared, and he puffed out his chest and slapped it resoundingly.
Just as they were assigning tasks, outside the ruins, Schiller stood before a fissure that had been forcibly widened.
In front of him, several engineering robots with flashing red warning lights were emitting a deafening roar. Their massive drills and cutting arms whirred frantically, showering down rubble like rain.
"Supervisor, the passage is clear. Small combat units can now enter," an operative in full tactical gear stepped forward to report.
"Very good. First Squad, Second Squad, enter and scout."
"Yes, sir!"
As the order was given, two squads of soldiers in black combat gear, carrying standard-issue weapons, quickly disappeared into the gloomy passage.
The moment they set foot within the ruins, Jian Yi’s cloudy gray eyes, stationed at the entrance to the main hall, snapped toward a certain direction.
"They’re here!" he growled. His longsword was already an inch out of its sheath, its edge glinting coldly in the dim light.
Wu Liangchen’s gaze sharpened, and the Qi and Blood throughout his body began to stir.
WHIZZ! WHIZZ! WHIZZ!
A few sharp whizzes cut through the air as several miniature recon drones, blinking with red lights, flew out of the tunnel entrance like flies, trying to survey the hall.
"Hmph!" Alina scoffed, tracing a line in the air with one slender finger.
An invisible barrier of Spiritual Power instantly unfurled. The high-speed drones slammed into it as if hitting an unseen wall, bursting into tiny clouds of metallic shrapnel in mid-air.
Then, the thud of heavy footsteps echoed from the tunnel, growing steadily closer.
"Get ready!" Wu Liangchen barked.
The next moment, more than a dozen Dome Corporation soldiers filed out, energy rifles in hand. Their muzzles spat deadly fire as a dense volley of energy beams instantly blanketed the entrance to the main hall.
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!
Jian Yi’s form flickered like a phantom, his longsword a whirlwind of motion. He wove an impenetrable curtain of steel that deflected every energy beam aimed at him and Wu Liangchen, sending sparks flying.
Wu Liangchen, however, didn’t even try to dodge. He allowed several energy beams to slam into him, but they only produced a series of dull thuds, not even singeing his clothes. His indestructible body was long immune to an attack of this caliber.
With a flicker of movement, he charged into the enemy ranks like a tiger descending from the mountains!
BAM!
He threw a punch, and the air cracked. The soldier at the very front had no time to react. His chest caved in completely, and he sprayed a mouthful of blood as his body flew backward like a kite with a snapped string, smashing into the stone wall and falling silent. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ
A soldier who looked like a squad leader roared in fury. The combat blade in his hand crackled with blinding electricity as he brought it down viciously on Wu Liangchen’s head.
Without even turning his head, Wu Liangchen casually raised his left hand and caught the man’s wrist with perfect accuracy.
CRACK!
With a sickening crack, the squad leader’s wrist was crushed. The combat blade flew from his grip.
"AHHH—!" A bloodcurdling scream echoed through the hall.
Wu Liangchen brought his palm down on the man’s head.
SPLAT!
A spray of red and white splattered everywhere. The squad leader crumpled to the ground without another sound.
Meanwhile, Song Ling’Er had already taken up a sniper’s perch atop a collapsed stone pillar. The custom sniper rifle in her hands let out a series of deep roars, each bullet finding its mark in an enemy’s vitals.
Gunfire, explosions, screams, and the clang of metal wove together, a bloody symphony echoing through the ancient ruins.
Master Jie Nian and his iron monks firmly held the side corridor that led to the spring.
Though the iron monks’ movements were somewhat clumsy, they were utterly fearless. They swung their simple metal clubs with enough force to make the air whistle. Coordinated by the low Sanskrit chants from Master Jie Nian, they successfully held back the enemies attempting a flanking maneuver.
The first two squads to enter were annihilated by the thunderous counterattack from Wu Liangchen and the others. They had barely managed to put up a fight before being completely wiped out.
The thick stench of blood filled the air.
Outside the ruins, Schiller listened to the fierce firefight and the steadily dropping life signs of his men on his personal comms unit. The smile on his face grew even more sinister.
"All elite squads, prepare to storm the entrance! Remember, apart from the one surnamed Wu, the others are expendable!"
At Schiller’s command, even more soldiers—better equipped and with a fiercer demeanor—surged into the tunnel like a tidal wave.
These were the Dome Corporation’s true elites, far superior to the earlier cannon fodder in both individual skill and equipment.
BOOM!
With a massive explosion, the stone gate at the main hall’s entrance was blown open, showering the area with shrapnel.
Dozens of soldiers in heavy power armor charged in, wielding more powerful energy weapons. Their heavy footsteps thudded on the stone as their overwhelming firepower instantly suppressed the defenders.
"Watch out!" Alina cried, feeling several powerful energy fluctuations lock onto her.
She pushed her Spiritual Power to the maximum, erecting layered barriers in front of the group.
