Chapter 462: Chapter 328: Vast Black Market, Conditions for Cooperation
It wasn’t just Han Yuan; even the owner was stunned.
He hadn’t expected Wu Liangchen to be so brazen as to show up here, especially now, when he was at the center of the storm. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ
Even for a man like him, who had run a black market business for years and weathered countless storms, he couldn’t help but feel a little tense.
If he was feeling this way, Han Yuan was in an even worse state.
He had only come here to fish for some information, planning to embellish it and sell it to the Eldest Young Master Tian.
Who would have thought things would get so explosive? He had run right into the man himself.
Wu Liangchen, however, paid no mind to the strange looks. He knew his face was infamous throughout the city by now, so it was no surprise he’d been recognized.
Still, he figured that anyone present here must have some intricate connection to the arms dealer.
So what if they recognized him? It’s not like they could do anything.
Not unless the arms dealer wanted to get implicated himself.
"AHEM. That was quite a move, my friend. I’m impressed." The coffee shop owner was the first to snap out of it. With a slight cough, he gave Wu Liangchen a thumbs-up.
At this point, feigning ignorance would only invite suspicion. It was better to be open and acknowledge the situation.
Wu Liangchen smiled. "Well, I have to thank you for the weapons you provided."
The owner laughed as well. "So, what can I get you this time?"
"Ammunition."
The owner was surprised. The last batch of ammo Wu Liangchen had bought was enough to arm an entire squad. ’He’s used it all up this quickly?’
But he didn’t ask any questions. In his line of work, excessive curiosity was the biggest taboo.
He simply nodded. "Alright. How much do you need? I’ll go get it ready."
"Ten more basic loads."
’I bought five basic loads last time,’ he mused. ’I barely used any of it myself; Song Ling’Er burned through most of it with her target practice.’
’Thankfully, Song Ling’Er had gotten the hang of it now, so her ammo consumption was much lower than before.’
’So another ten basic loads should be enough.’
"That much... You’ll have to wait a moment. I need to get it ready," the owner said after a brief hesitation.
"Fine." Wu Liangchen wasn’t the least bit worried the owner would go snitch.
He knew that anyone with half a brain would realize that while the warrant was officially issued by the Alliance Government, it was really the Sun family pulling the strings.
If the owner got greedy and reported him for the bounty, he’d only end up implicating himself.
The owner went to prepare the order. Before he left, he poured Wu Liangchen a cup of coffee and told him to take his time.
Wu Liangchen sat at the bar and noticed the coffee shop was unusually quiet today. The regulars who usually played cards by the window weren’t here.
The only other customer was Han Yuan, who was also sitting at the bar.
He had now recovered from his initial shock, which was replaced by pure excitement.
He suddenly realized this was a rare opportunity. After collecting his thoughts, he stood up, his face plastered with a smile.
"Mr. Wu, hello. Allow me to introduce myself. I’m an information dealer and a black market broker. My name is Han Yuan. It’s a pleasure to meet you!"
Wu Liangchen ignored the hand Han Yuan extended in a gesture of goodwill. "So?" he said coolly. "What do you want?"
Unfazed by the snub, Han Yuan smoothly retracted his hand and said with a look of utmost sincerity,
"To be honest, I came here today specifically to find information about you."
Wu Liangchen looked down, sipped his coffee, and said nothing.
’He knew Han Yuan wasn’t finished.’
Sure enough, Han Yuan continued, "It’s because a certain big shot is very interested in you. He wants me to find you so he can meet you."
He finished speaking and stared intently at Wu Liangchen, hoping to see some kind of reaction.
He was disappointed.
Wu Liangchen paid him no mind, not even glancing up as he continued to leisurely sip his coffee.
Finally, Han Yuan couldn’t hold it in any longer. "The big shot is the Second Young Master of the Tian family, Tian Zhongshan. He greatly admires what you’ve done and wants to meet you. If possible, he’d even like to form a partnership with you."
"Fine."
"Now, don’t be so quick to refu—huh?" Han Yuan froze.
He had been so sure Wu Liangchen would refuse outright that he’d already prepared his whole persuasive speech.
He never expected Wu Liangchen to go off-script and agree so readily.
"So, you mean... you agree?" Han Yuan asked cautiously.
"That’s right. I can wait here for another hour. If this Second Young Master Tian wants to see me, he should get here as soon as possible," Wu Liangchen said.
"Yes, yes, of course! Please wait, I’ll notify the Second Young Master right now!" Han Yuan said in a flurry. He eagerly pulled out his phone, stepped to the entrance of the coffee shop, and dialed Tian Zhongshan’s number.
After a few rings, the call connected. The sound of loud music blared from the other end; it sounded like he was in a bar.
"What is it?" Tian Zhongshan’s voice came from the other end, cold and clipped.
"Second Young Master, that matter you entrusted to me... I’ve taken care of it," Han Yuan whispered, unable to suppress his excitement.
On the other end of the line, Tian Zhongshan immediately sat up straight. He waved a hand, dismissing the hostesses around him, then spoke in a low, serious voice.
"This fast?"
"Of course. When it comes to your business, Second Young Master, I wouldn’t dare to slack off," Han Yuan said with a sycophantic grin, patting himself on the back.
