Chapter 368: Chapter 274: Midday Assassination, Crushing the Spirit (Part 3)

The move was ruthless and vicious, brimming with desperation. The woman clearly knew her assassination attempt had failed and that she wouldn’t escape, so this was her final struggle.

All hard-body Cultivation Techniques have a weak point, and for most men, that weakness lies in the lower body.

But in the next instant, Wu Liangchen lashed out with his palm.

With a sharp CRACK, the woman was sent flying through the air. She landed with a THUD and couldn’t move another inch.

Wu Liangchen didn’t even glance at the woman on the ground.

He knew that single palm strike had utterly destroyed her chances of survival. The only reason he left her breathing was for interrogation later.

Without a backward glance, Wu Liangchen leaped from the restaurant and began to pursue the Warriors outside.

In truth, Wu Liangchen had sensed them long before they made their move.

But he gave no sign, waiting quietly instead.

He only struck back when the woman made her move.

He did this to lure the snakes from their holes, forcing all the powers attempting to resist him to reveal themselves.

Although the Warriors had scattered in every direction, their speed was no match for Wu Liangchen’s.

Every so often, a blood-curdling scream echoed from outside the window.

After the thirteenth scream, everything returned to silence.

The room fell silent, the only sounds being Takizawa Sayon’s soft sobs and the ragged gasps of the woman on the floor.

Though she showed no outward signs of injury, Wu Liangchen’s palm strike had actually shattered every bone in her body. At this moment, even lifting a finger was an impossible luxury.

This filled her eyes with utter despair.

This was especially true after she heard the screams from outside.

Just then, Wu Liangchen returned, still clad in white, his clothes unblemished by even a speck of blood.

He came to a stop before the woman, looking down at her from above.

"Speak. Tell me how many more of you there are, and I’ll send you on your way."

The woman stared daggers at Wu Liangchen without a word. If looks could kill, he would have died a hundred times over.

But her venomous glare had no effect on Wu Liangchen; in fact, he smiled.

"I know you won’t talk, even if I ask. But do you know why I didn’t kill you outright? Why I left you alive?"

The woman blinked, then struggled to speak. "You just want to torture me. Do what you will. A woman of the Otsuka family will never bow."

Just then, the still-shaken Ota Masayuki and Yokoyama Daisuke finally got a clear look at the woman’s face and exclaimed in unison.

"It’s Princess Otsuka Youna!"

The moment the words left their mouths, they both realized their mistake.

After all, with Wu Liangchen present, using an honorific for Princess Otsuka could easily be misunderstood.

But Wu Liangchen paid them no mind. He looked down at the princess of the Otsuka family, a rare trace of admiration on his face.

She was his enemy, but she was the only one who had dared to attack him.

It had been a full two days since he had killed Otsuka Kazuji, and in that time, all of Tokyo had been unnaturally calm.

The Warriors who normally screamed about dying an honorable death for their country were now all hiding at home, too afraid to even step outside.

He never expected that the first person to finally launch an attack would be a woman—and a princess, no less.

He crouched down, looked at the woman’s grief-stricken and indignant face, and said calmly, "You’re wrong. I’m not going to torture you. I just want to tell you something."

"Since your Monarch’s death, you are the only person who has moved against me. And right now, the people of the East Sea are not grieving—they’re celebrating. Do you know why?"

The woman struggled to keep her eyes wide open, staring at Wu Liangchen as if desperate for the answer.

"It’s because you placed your own interests above those of all others," Wu Liangchen said coldly. "That is why your Monarch’s death has caused no ripples."
