Chapter 2013: Part 1: Puppet formation

Outer area

Wizard Alaric is standing above the puppet formation. He thought he had succeeded in his plan. He is going to capture the person for sacrifice.

But he didn’t expect four wizards to appear all of a sudden. They are rushing towards him. He understands that he has kicked an iron plate this time.

All four of them seem like Supreme Wizards to him. The old man especially gives him a greater sense of danger.

Swoosh!

Wizard Alaric doesn’t waste time. Before the others can get closer to him, he flees from the place. He ignores the puppet formations on the ground.

If he gets caught, it will be more disastrous. While running, he looks around the place.

A few minutes later,

There are a few dense areas. He finds a hidden spot and uses a magic spell on himself; his body becomes like a puppet.

The mana and the lifeforce have become quiet. No one can see any trace of life from the body. He lays flat on the ground.

At the same time, the four of them reach the exact spot. They know that the wizard has already fled.

Old man Rock gives chase. He follows the direction where the wizard fled. When he is gone from the place, the other three look at each other.

Then they see the weird things on the ground. They descend closer to the ground.

Then they see what this is about. Wizard corpses positioned in formation nodes come into their view.

The expressions of the three of them change drastically. They didn’t expect to witness something so creepy and evil.

The mana around the formation is corrupt. They understand that what the formation was set up for is close to the final arrangements.

They don’t dare to go down and investigate. If they get polluted by the black mana, then it will become hard to expel it.

"Hank, go and inform the Master," Otto says to Hank.

Hearing that, Hank nods his head and leaves the place. Patrick and Otto look at each other. They are Supreme Wizards, but they are afraid now.

They don’t know who is behind the formation. The person was able to escape at the last moment. If they follow him, they could end up getting into traps.

Fortunately, old man Rock gave chase. With his experience, he can see through the tricks of the wizard.

Meanwhile,

Old man Rock comes to the spot. He spots a figure disappearing here. His senses pick up something here as well.

But when he gets here, he finds there is no sign of the wizard. The person seems to have escaped.

He doesn’t know the wizard is laying flat on the ground. The magic spell is at work, covering his body, so there is no sign of leakage or anything.

Old man Rock furrows his eyebrows. He then spreads his mental power across the place. It covers the grass and weeds on the ground.

The power passes over Wizard Alaric. But old man Rock mistakes him for a wooden log. Because the current appearance and condition of Wizard Alaric are similar to that of a wooden log.

So Magic Lord Rock doesn’t find anything abnormal. He leaves the place. He is going to look around the surrounding area.

Wizard Alaric continues to fake it. If he stops using the magic power, he will be exposed soon.

He decides to wake up after some time. But a few inches away from his body, a red smoke is observing him.

The zero puppet has been here from the beginning, especially when the wizard fled from the place.

Meanwhile,

Hank returns to the aircraft and informs Master Vincent of everything.

In the cockpit, I hear everything from Hank. Next, I appear outside and put the aircraft inside the system space.

Then I follow Hank towards the others.

A few minutes later,

We are on the ground. I look at the members before my gaze sweeps across the place where the wizard corpses are positioned in an upright manner.

A storm sets off in my heart.

Without needing them to tell me, I figure out that the position resembles a formation. The wizard corpses remind me of the grave robbery that took place in Nova City.

I suspect it’s related to them. Then I see Magic Lord Rock is not here. He went after the escaped wizard.

I’m also thinking about the Zero puppet. I think the Zero puppet is not here. It has gone after the culprit as well. Otherwise, the puppet would have been here.

Then I take my device out and begin to record the formations. After recording from the top, I decide to go closer. But the members warn me of mana pollution.

I tell them not to worry. Then I go closer to record the video. The dark mana, out of nowhere, tries to enter my body.

But the system blocks it.

On the other hand, the members are surprised. They see that the Master is surrounded by black mist. If it were others, they would have been polluted already.

Time passes.

Old man Rock returns 10 minutes later. But he looks disappointed. He lost the trace of the culprit.

Everyone understands, but no one speaks. Old man Rock is thinking. He was sure about going after the culprit. It should be impossible for the culprit to escape.

Because he had sensed that the culprit’s strength was Supreme. He would not have escaped unless he used a magic artifact.

But he didn’t sense the fluctuations of a magic artifact either. He keeps quiet.

On the other hand, the red smoke continues to observe Wizard Alaric.

Time passes.

After collecting the records, I use the system to find the location of the Zero puppet. After getting the direction, I tell the others to stay here.

Then I leave the place alone. It doesn’t take long for me to reach the area.

Wizard Alaric is alarmed. He didn’t expect another wizard to come here. He continues to use magic power to lay on the ground.

[Ding! A Puppet Wizard is detected.]

I hear the system voice in my mind. The corners of my mouth curve into an arc. The next second, I appear right in front of the place.

I see the Zero puppet in its red smoke form, right next to a wooden log.

"No, it’s not a wooden log, but a puppet wizard," I say in my heart.
