Chapter 1982: The current scenario

Crystal City

The red smoke went from one shop to another, collecting valuable information. However, most of the shops were visited by locals who had not been exposed to high-level intel.

The zero puppet then entered the buildings of the various wizard associations in the city. There were Magic Lord powerhouses guarding the places, but they failed to detect the red smoke.

Using the opportunity, the zero puppet was able to get more information. This time, the information was confidential and concrete.

The Following Day

I woke up from my sleep. After getting out of bed, I started doing my morning routine. The routine lasted for one hour.

After getting ready, I appeared in the main area of the room, eager to get a response from the zero puppet.

10 minutes later,

A stream of red smoke entered the room through the window. The red smoke appeared before me and then reverted back to its original form.

The black-clad, armored zero puppet appeared in front of me.

I raised my head and looked at the zero puppet.

"What did you find?" I asked.

Hearing that, the zero puppet began to relay the intel. It shared the details from the common information collected from the locals.

I continued to listen to the information, and my doubts were cleared as well. I found that the locals were actually well-informed.

Then, the zero puppet began to reveal the information that was collected from the various wizard associations.

"Master, the magic towers are in competition with each other on this matter. They want to find the information and hand it over to the Mage Union."

"There is also information that factions inside each tower are taking individual actions. Everyone is selfish. They are hiding intel within their factions," the zero puppet replied.

My gaze narrowed. To think the factions inside the towers were this selfish. I immediately recalled the words of Manager Lara.

She had told me that someone from the faction would contact me. Most likely, the person would be the Forbidden Wizard, Charlotte.

Then, I continued to listen to the information.

"Red Tower Wizards were seen in the Unknown Dark Territory. There is a rumor that an evil wizard organization might have emerged from the Ancient Forbidden Ruin."

"The wizards from other Magic Towers are exploring different Forbidden Wizard Ruins as well," it added.

A few minutes later,

The zero puppet finished saying everything.

"Good," I praised the zero puppet. It surprised me.

Now I had obtained more information, and I felt much more relaxed. I was not surprised to learn that the Magic Towers were targeting different Forbidden Ruins.

It was a good place to start. However, I knew there were remote regions where ruins were hidden from the public. One of them was the crevice where I got the skeleton of the Magic Lord.

Then, I collected my thoughts and told the zero puppet to stay outside and keep an eye on the surroundings.

The puppet turned back into its red smoke form and left through the window. It was the first time I was giving such freedom to the zero puppet.

Then, I took my device out and began to watch the online news. A video appeared, and the anchor was talking about the current situation in the city.

The news of the ancient evil wizard force was trending right now. She mentioned that the Red Magic Tower was foremost in contributions.

Their wizards were collecting information on the unknown evil force, followed by the elemental towers. The Silver Tower was not among the top three.

I furrowed my eyebrows. I knew the strength of the Silver Tower was not that great and their members were fewer. So, they had to put in more than twice the effort.

The Red Magic Tower seemed to be the strongest and most influential. To think they had achieved the top spot so far; they must have a wide range of connections.

When it came to the Elemental Towers, they had a large number of members. They could easily get information by dispatching their members everywhere.

The families behind each of the members were large in number as well, so it was not surprising they were next.

I felt a headache coming on. I wanted the Silver Tower to do its best, but it was not an easy task.

Buzz!

Suddenly, my device buzzed. I picked up the device and saw the contact name. My pupils shrank. The person who was calling was none other than Forbidden Wizard Charlotte.

I answered the call.

The next second, a holographic image of her appeared. Upon seeing me, she smiled and said, "I heard you have completed the opal gemstones mission. It was a difficult mission, yet you have done it."

"I’m impressed. The elders in our faction will be impressed as well. I have already informed Lara. She will give you the rewards later."

"Now, let’s come to the main topic. You must have heard about the current situation. Everyone is busy finding information about the newly emerged wizard force."

"We don’t know the full details about the new force. But they have already started targeting the businesses of the Mage Union."

"Everyone is being dispatched. Since you have just returned, take a couple of days of rest. After that, I want you to collect intel on them," Charlotte said in a serious tone.

Hearing that, I nodded to her. I had been expecting her call. Then, I thought of something and asked, "Lord, what do we know about them? Is there any clue?"

Charlotte replied, "You must have heard. The other Magic Towers are inspecting the various forbidden ruins. That is the only place which could hide such a force."

"Otherwise, the Mage Union would have found out long ago," she added.

Then, the conversation continued for fifteen minutes before she ended the call. I put away the device and began to ponder.

I cannot follow the same method as the others. I should start my investigation from the place where they attacked our business.

Since the Mage Union said so, it was clear that it was a newly emerged force. No other force is involved. I should not over-speculate; the investigation will clear everything.

I should take the other members along with me as well. It will be the first time I am going to involve the members in a mission.
