Chapter 1969: Crisis land
Chapter 1969: Crisis land
Camp
Elder Morris was looking at the exact spot. He had found the spot to be odd from his earthly senses earlier. He was sure that there was something wrong with the spot here.
He then used his mental power to scan the whole place. It reached the other tents and stone houses.
The Wizards inside the rooms were alarmed. Especially, the two discussing earlier were scared to the core. Only when the probing was gone did they sigh in relief.
Elder Morris didn’t find anything. He was disappointed. He then went back toward his place. If he found anything again, he would not let it go.
He was in a hurry because the time had come for their departure. They needed to enter the dangerous land by the next morning.
After some time, I appeared outside. The red smoke came back to the place. Then I brought it inside the Gregor Mansion. After that, I learned everything from the zero puppet.
The dangerous area had many challenges, the first one being the wind tornado trial. The powerful wind tornadoes wreaked havoc on the path.
No wonder these people were camped outside. They were waiting for the tornadoes to pass. But I didn’t have to do that. I could cross the place with the help of the Gregor Mansion.
That night, I spoke to the zero puppet before appearing outside alone. I shielded my mana presence using the system. Then I started going toward the dangerous place.
I flew over the various tents and stone houses. I reached the entrance of the dangerous area. It was a rocky terrain with little vegetation. I continued to fly in a straight path.
It didn’t take long for me to find something strange in the environment. The mana in the place was chaotic. I couldn’t draw the gravity mana into the area.
If one got injured in this place, then it would become difficult to recover.
As time passed, I came across powerful thunderstorms. Not one, but many tornadoes had formed, both big and small in size.
The windstorms were ravaging the place, uprooting the already uneven land. My mouth twitched. I had thought it was just one tornado, but there were many.
I felt challenged, but I decided to go through the tornadoes anyway.
Swoosh!
I resumed flying. There was a small tornado crossing my path. In the blink of an eye, I came face-to-face with the tornado.
The system was reminding me with a series of notifications. I moved past the rotating clouds. The momentum was so strong that the clouds could have injured me.
After successfully crossing the small clouds, I came across a big cloud. When I got closer, I felt the windstorm was powerful. It was already affecting me.
I made a quick decision before appearing inside the Gregor Mansion. I waited for the clouds to fade away into the distance.
Once the big tornado was gone, I appeared outside and resumed the same method to cross.
As time passed, morning came, but I had only crossed a couple of tornadoes. I was sure the other team must have entered the place by now.
I continued to fly over the dangerous land. Then I saw something incredible. A heavily fortified truck was moving on the ground.
Clearly, it was being used by wizards. They were not the wizards from the previous force; they were a different team.
I glanced at them before continuing my journey.
Meanwhile,
The people inside the truck were keeping an eye outside. They were watching the movements of the rotating clouds. Then they saw someone flying in the sky.
They realized the person was a wizard. He was going alone. Surprises filled the place. The wizards looked at each other’s faces.
There were Supreme Wizards among them. An old woman was leading the team. She was a Magic Lord.
She said, "It could be a person left behind by their team. He could be chasing after them."
Hearing that, everyone became quiet because it was a treacherous place. It could influence people’s hearts and minds.
So backstabbing was normal on this trip. If a team was not close, they would disintegrate sooner.
"Elder, can we interrogate the person?" a male wizard asked.
Hearing that, the faces of everyone changed drastically.
The old woman looked at him and said, "Every team is led by a Magic Lord. We don’t want any fight here. The opal magic gemstones are everywhere."
"So there is no place for conflict," she added.
Time passed.
I finally crossed all the tornado hurdles. But the problems didn’t disappear; a new problem arose.
The climate changed all of a sudden. The mana in the environment became more chaotic. I had a feeling that something might occur during the nighttime.
So I found an isolated spot and landed on the ground. The next second, I appeared inside the Gregor Mansion.
The zero puppet was watching from the control mirror. I spoke to the zero puppet before going back to my room to rest.
When nighttime came, changes began to happen outside. A black fog appeared all of a sudden.
The black fog began to spread and covered the vast land in the blink of an eye. The wizards who were in the truck had escaped the tornadoes as well.
They came across the black fog. The old woman Magic Lord was an experienced person; she recognized the black fog.
She didn’t panic. She took out a magic artifact. The other wizards in the truck were terrified. Some of them were new to the expedition.
The experienced ones stayed silent after seeing the Elder’s actions. She took out a lamp-like artifact and poured mana into it.
The next second, the lamp artifact was activated. A green-colored layer covered the whole truck.
When the black fog came into contact with the green layer, it couldn’t break through. The green layer actively protected the truck from the black fog.
Seeing that, the wizards in the truck gasped in shock. They understood that the Elder must have faced a similar situation before.
They calmed their hearts. The fear of the unknown vanished from their faces.
