Chapter 1514: Part 2: Transmutation Tree Wizard

The old man nodded and said, “It’s been years since we saw him. He lives in the core area.”

“You can find him in the core area, but the core area is vast. Dangerous beings live there.”

“The core used to be part of the ancient battlefield. It’s not easy to find him there unless he comes out of the place himself,” he added.

Hearing that, my heart grew heavy. I had thought finding his location would be easy, but the wanted criminal lives in the core area.

The old man saw that I found it hard to accept. He added, “His magic is different. He could survive there despite only being at the Supreme level.”

“Because of this, not many forces were able to force him out of the core area,” he continued.

Hearing that, I understood. The wanted criminal’s magic makes it easier for him to survive. This is going to be a serious problem.

Then I asked, “Thank you for answering my questions. Could you tell me where he might be hiding?”

The old man got angry. He didn’t want to offend Theo Bernard either, but he couldn’t see through me.

What’s more, he suspected I might have come with a team.

“I told you, the ancient battlefield suits his magic. We think he’s hiding in one of the ancient graveyards,” the old man replied.

Hearing that, I felt relieved.

“Thanks for answering me. I’m leaving now.” After saying that, I left the place.

While leaving, I asked the system to check whether the old man was following me. The system’s result was negative.

But after disappearing from his sight, I appeared inside the Gregor Mansion. Then I went to the control room to check the mirror.

There was no one outside, but I had a gut feeling the old man might come.

Shortly afterward, the old man with tree hands appeared at the spot. He looked around but couldn’t see me. Not even a few minutes had passed.

I had escaped from the place. The old man outside was terrified. He thought he had made the right decision by not offending me.

He believed the young-looking person might be a powerful Supreme Wizard or Forbidden Wizard. I had escaped from his sight in a few seconds.

What’s more, from the beginning, he couldn’t feel my mana presence. He decided to warn the others not to offend the young man when they saw him.

The old man then left the place and returned to the stone house.

At the same time, I appeared outside. I looked around before starting to leave the place. I remembered the route to the next open land.

I decided to check the map there. On the way, I kept an eye out for the dark tree roots. So far, there was no sign of them.

A few minutes later, after going through the narrow route of the dense forest, I arrived at the open land.

This small patch of land was filled with boulders.

I landed on one of the boulders, took out both maps, and started looking at them again.

A few minutes later, I realized the official map was useless. But the map of the dead wizard was something else. It had more information.

I took the original map of the dead wizard and started looking for routes to the forbidden area.

There weren’t many routes to the forbidden area because the dense forests had spread around the core area.

But the dead wizard had marked a single route to the forbidden area. Seeing that, I was surprised. I didn’t know whether to trust the route or not.

Suddenly, I noticed one thing: the black ink seemed newer compared to the others. I immediately used the system function to confirm it.

The system confirmed that this black line was recently drawn compared to the other lines.

I couldn’t help but wonder whether the dead wizard had traveled through the route before dying.

I shook my head before collecting my thoughts. Then I put the map back inside the system space and continued with the journey.

As time passed, I ventured deeper into the inner area.

Meanwhile, the 10th Order Monster hadn’t given up. Instead, it had found out the prey was coming toward its area.

The 10th Order Multi-Eyes Monster was just inside the core area. Most of its tree roots had spread across the inner area.

It had lost sight of the prey for some time, but it located the prey again. One of its roots spotted the prey moving toward the core area.

Seeing that, it didn’t attack. Instead, the 10th Order Monster decided to wait. Once the prey entered the area, it wouldn’t be able to leave.

Its roots had spread across the inner area as well. Even if the human prey used a magic spell, it would run out of mana.

It had killed many human wizards this way, so it was confident it could kill the human prey.

Meanwhile, nighttime came. To my surprise, I didn’t find any dark tree roots. But I had a feeling things weren’t that simple.

The next second, I appeared inside the Gregor Mansion. I went to the control room to check. I stood in front of the control mirror.

I continued to look outside. I didn’t know whether the dark tree roots would appear again. I had a feeling they might.

An hour later, there weren’t any changes outside. I was thinking about sleeping. Then I saw something moving outside. It was dark, but I could see the silhouette.

Suddenly, many red eyes appeared before closing. Seeing that, I nodded. I was right. The uncomfortable feeling was coming from the dark tree roots.

But the system didn’t warn me. The magic abilities of the tree monster were weird. Then I decided to go to bed.

If that thing was still there the next morning, I would destroy it using a magic spell. After making the important decision, I went to the bedroom to sleep.
