Grand Voyage : Surviving on a Ghost Ship
Ch. 345 - Routine Physical Examination
New Novel - Read Here
Inside the captain's cabin.
The four members of the Nightmare Star gathered together and held a temporary short meeting so that the new crew member, Tricia, could get to know the old crew members and integrate into the family as quickly as possible.
“I’m Yang Yi, captain of the Nightmare Star and the person with the highest authority on board. I’m mainly responsible for planning our voyages and ensuring our safety.”
Yang Yi introduced himself first, then pointed toward Suna.
“This is Suna, the Nightmare Star’s first mate and ship doctor. She is mainly responsible for providing technical support and medical care. Her authority is second only to mine.”
Suna nodded, indicating that she agreed with Yang Yi’s words.
However, all her attention was focused on Tricia. After all, she was a mutated Light Fairy, and it was quite possible that there wasn’t another one like her anywhere on the entire sea.
Tricia, on the other hand, felt extremely uncomfortable under Suna’s stare, as if her whole body were covered in goosebumps.
“Is there something on my face?” she asked Suna while hovering in midair.
“No. But you just recovered. I’ll give you a full-body examination later.”
Suna replied calmly, wearing a plague doctor mask over her face.
“Ahem!”
Yang Yi coughed, drawing everyone’s attention back. He pointed toward Xiao Ji.
“This is Xiao Ji, the head chef. Don’t let the fact that it’s a robot fool you—its cooking skills have already reached the pinnacle of perfection!
“It’s mainly responsible for cooking, security, patrols, and feeding the Vitality Sardine Tree. At the same time, it also serves as a laboratory assistant.”
“That’s right!”
The indicator light on Xiao Ji’s head flashed as it extended a mechanical arm in salute.
“Vitality Sardine Tree?”
Tricia had never heard of such a creature before, and she couldn’t help frowning.
“Finally...” Yang Yi looked toward Tricia.
“Your position will temporarily be that of Navigation Consultant. You’ll mainly be responsible for dispersing the black fog and assisting me in formulating our navigation plans.”
Tricia nodded and looked at the other three members. Out of habit, she crossed her arms over her chest, but immediately realized that something was wrong and gave an awkward laugh.
“Sorry.”
She changed her posture and bowed.
“I’m Tricia, a Light Fairy. I’m very happy to meet all of you and become a member of the Nightmare Star.”
Clap, clap, clap, clap, clap!
Yang Yi was the first to applaud, followed by Suna and Xiao Ji the robot. However, Xiao Ji clapped with its mechanical arms, producing a completely different sound.
With that, the four members had officially gotten to know one another.
As soon as the applause ended, Suna proposed giving Tricia a detailed physical examination.
“I don’t think that’s necessary. I don’t feel uncomfortable anywhere. I only had a vague nightmare when I was unconscious just now, and I have a slight headache now.”
Tricia politely declined, but Suna insisted on examining her. She said that this was an obligation every crew member had to fulfill and that everyone had to undergo a routine physical examination.
“Is that really the case?”
She looked toward Captain Yang Yi.
But the latter had somehow developed a sudden passion for studying. He was holding a book and reading it intently. Its title was Beware of the Despicable Outsiders.
Suna rarely frowned.
However, Tricia suffered from her lack of experience and failed to comprehend the deeper meaning behind the situation. Half-resisting and half-submitting, she followed Suna and left.
The Xiao Ji robot also left with them.
“Phew~”
Yang Yi let out a long sigh of relief.
Before the meeting even began, Suna had already said that she wanted to examine this mutated Light Fairy.
Yang Yi had found it difficult to refuse her, but he had told her to maintain proper boundaries and not hurt Tricia. After all, she was an important crew member.
............
Tricia followed Suna into the cabin. Wherever she went, the area was illuminated brightly.
“Do you need to eat?”
Suna suddenly asked.
“Yes. I need to replenish Holy Water regularly.”
Tricia replied.
“Oh, I happen to have some here. Do you want to drink some?”
Suna handed Tricia a bottle of Holy Water and opened the cap.
“Thank you.”
Tricia hugged the reagent bottle as if she were holding a large jug of wine and gulped it down.
She drank all the Holy Water until not a drop remained, yet her stomach did not bulge at all. The only change was that the light radiating from her body became several shades brighter, as if fuel had been added to a lamp.
“Good. Come with me.”
Suna led Tricia through the cabin and brought her to the door of the Witch’s Laboratory.
Just at that moment, Tricia received a private message from Yang Yi.
“Don’t resist. There’s no danger. I’ve already given her a heads-up.”
“What do you mean?”
Tricia did not understand, but she followed Suna into the laboratory.
“This is.....”
She could hardly believe her eyes. She had never expected the ship to have a medical room equipped with such a complete array of facilities.
In the middle was an operating table covered with a white cloth. Beneath it appeared to be a corpse.
But that was not strange. It was perfectly normal for a medical room to contain corpses or cadavers for dissection. The hospitals in the Holy City had them as well.
However, quite a few creatures seemed to have died here. The resentment was rather heavy, and Tricia could sense it. There was an unpleasant chill in the air.
“Lie down here.”
Suna pointed toward a small metal bed specially made to fit Tricia’s size. A black cushion had been placed in the middle so she could lie on her stomach comfortably.
Although Tricia had some doubts, she obediently did as she was told. After all, Suna was her new companion, and she did not want to cause any discord.
Suna then naturally picked up a black leather strap and prepared to secure Tricia’s limbs.
“What are you doing...? This is just a physical examination. Is there really a need for this?” she asked uneasily.
“There is. If you don’t believe me, you can ask Captain Yang Yi. This is how he always undergoes his physical examinations.”
“Oh....”
Tricia nodded. Remembering the private message from the captain, she did not resist and allowed herself to be strapped down.
But as luck would have it, a strange gust of wind suddenly swept through the medical room. The Vitality Sardine Tree, which had been tethered near the doorway, stood upright, its fish mouth opening and closing repeatedly.
“So that’s the Vitality Sardine Tree? It really is a new species I’ve never heard of.”
Suddenly, the wind blew the cloth off the operating table.
Beneath it was the severely damaged corpse of a Deep Diver. The damaged areas appeared to have been repaired.
But the Deep Diver had no head.
In place of its head was a human head whose eyes, mouth, and nose had all been sewn shut.
And on the left side of the corpse, a huge pincer had already been sewn into place.....
“What is this....? Are you trying to create life? That’s a taboo! You.......”
Suna completely ignored Tricia. She pulled aside the white plastic curtain concealing the bloodstains.
Behind it was a collection of sinister containers filled with various organs belonging to different Fiends.
“You..... You’re a witch?
“No!!!
“Let me go!!!”
Tricia began struggling frantically, utterly terrified, but there was no way she could break free anymore.
“How dare you let a witch aboard the ship? She’ll get us all killed! You must be insane!”
She hurriedly sent Yang Yi a private message to warn him, but her message sank without a response.
Suna prepared her tools. They were all small tools specially made to fit Tricia’s size, including a miniature syringe, tweezers, a small knife, cotton swabs, and so on.....
“Ah!!!”
Tricia let out a high-pitched scream, but not a single sound could be heard outside the laboratory.
............
Inside the captain’s cabin, Yang Yi was assigning Tricia’s permissions.
Her activity range was unrestricted, but she had no authority to steer the ship, nor could she freely access the supplies and items stored in the warehouse.
However, it was still necessary to give her some equipment. At the very least, she needed to have a certain degree of self-defense capability.
That miniature wallet, for example, had been bought specifically for Tricia, so it could finally be put to use.
Tricia could not make much use of the other equipment.
Although the protective gear could automatically change size, there was a limit to how far it could adjust. It was impossible for it to shrink down to a size that Tricia could actually wear.
So Tricia’s clothes would have to be custom-made.
“We’ll deal with that later.”
Yang Yi began checking Tricia’s crew member panel.
Her panel was completely public, and all of her information was displayed. Once the captain granted authorization, all player crew members could view it.
However, Tricia herself could not view the panels of the other crew members. She needed authorization from the captain to do so.
Yang Yi granted her this portion of the permissions as well, then looked at Tricia’s panel.
