Grand Voyage : Surviving on a Ghost Ship
Ch. 344 - Praise... the Great Blasphemer!
New Novel - Read Here
Tricia had a dream.
In her dream, she saw the Goddess of Radiance.
What a holy and exalted existence she was—simply the embodiment of radiance and benevolence!
She stood there, her body emanating a powerful yet gentle light that was not dazzling, driving away all darkness.
Her eyes were tightly shut, and the fact that she had no arms only made her appear even more compassionate, as though she were embracing the entire world.
“Praise the Goddess of Radiance!”
“Praise the Holy Light!”
Like a devout pilgrim who had finally come face-to-face with her god, Tricia loudly praised her, her eyes filled with fanaticism.
Perhaps her voice had reached the goddess, because the goddess reacted and responded to her praise.
“I won’t let you die!” the Goddess of Radiance said.
Tricia immediately began trembling with excitement. She wrapped both arms around herself and performed the Radiance Salute.
“Praise the Goddess of Radiance... Prai... Praise...”
She suddenly swallowed the rest of her words.
Because the Goddess of Radiance had opened her left eye.
Inside were three gelatinous black eyeballs, constantly rotating. Their yellow, dot-like pupils frantically swept across the surroundings.
“Prai... Praise...”
Tricia was dumbfounded, stammering and unable to utter a complete sentence.
“Praise... the Great Blasphemer!”
Tricia's jaw opened and closed, her mouth finishing the sentence for her.
Immediately afterward, the statue of the Goddess of Radiance shattered.
Large chunks of plaster-like stone fell away, revealing the true form of the person hidden inside.
It was none other than the Great Blasphemer!
He had a wolf-like face, a completely charred-black body, and an obese, bloated figure. His left eye contained three eyeballs, while there was a huge mouth on his belly.
At that moment, he was sleeping, apparently dreaming.
But the mouth on his belly had not taken a break. It spat out several tongues as flexible as snakes, pinning Tricia in place while grabbing a long, foul-smelling sardine and stuffing it into Tricia's mouth.....
“AAAAAAAH!!!!!!”
A miserable scream of agony jolted Yang Yi awake, leaving him drenched in cold sweat.
For a moment, he thought a sea monster had launched an attack.
But something immediately felt wrong, because the voice had come from his chest.
He hurriedly hid the copy of Hot and Spicy Siren Paradise, Volume Three that he was holding behind his pillow, then looked toward the pocket on his chest.
A tiny head poked out through the torn opening.
It was none other than Tricia, who had undergone a complete transformation of her appearance.
She stared at Yang Yi with an extremely terrified expression.
“I... I remember everything! This... this is simply too terrifying!”
Tricia was gasping for breath, her eyes trembling violently, as though she had witnessed something horrifying.
Yang Yi, meanwhile, was left with a face full of question marks, unable to respond for a moment.
Could this Light Fairy have turned into an idiot after I repaired her like that?
He secretly grumbled to himself as he watched her carefully, remaining on guard against Tricia taking the opportunity to escape.
The latter took three deep breaths before finally calming down.
Then, with a solemn and serious expression, she said, “I remember now. The Goddess of Radiance... is actually an evil god in disguise!”
“That’s it?”
“That’s it!”
“Phew, I thought you had peed on me! Seriously, what’s the big deal?”
Yang Yi was completely unconcerned and did not take it seriously at all.
This wasn’t his first time encountering an evil god. Having one more or one less made little difference to him.
If there were actually a normal god somewhere, that would be what he found strange.
“You don’t understand at all!” Tricia said anxiously.
“I have to hurry back to the Sea of Miracles and tell everyone this secret! Damn it, my memory was damaged because I failed the assessment, and I forgot the most important thing.......”
Tricia seemed to have become a completely different person, rambling on without stopping.
“Are you not going to escape?”
Yang Yi interrupted Tricia and pointed toward the door of the captain’s cabin.
“Where could I even escape to?” Tricia shook her head and pointed to the back of her neck.
There was a tiny mark there, identical to the one on the right side of Yang Yi’s neck.
It was a Mark of Grave Sin.
“My memories haven’t fully recovered, so I’ll keep this brief.” Tricia seemed like a completely different person now as she looked directly at Yang Yi. “I want to return to the Sea of Miracles. Can you provide me with some assistance, Outsider?”
Yang Yi suddenly sat upright, his expression deep and unreadable like the sea. He grabbed Tricia in one hand while secretly checking his own Exposure Level.
It was actually 0%.
“I sealed my own hearing, so only you can hear what I’m saying right now.”
Tricia explained the reason as though she understood Yang Yi perfectly.
“You’ll want an excellent Light Fairy to assist you. It’s an honor that only a paladin deserves. As long as you agree, you can have a loyal Light Fairy at your side—and not just any Light Fairy, but an outstanding specimen among them, known as Tricia the Erudite, an exceptional individual!”
Tricia boasted confidently.
Yang Yi finally understood the whole situation.
The reason this girl had seemed so stupid before was because of her damaged memories.
His treatment had worked too well. It had inadvertently cured her stupidity as well.
But was that really a good thing?
Yang Yi fell into thought.
The stupid Tricia had certainly been easier to control, but the knowledgeable Tricia was obviously far more useful.
As long as he could tie her to the same boat as himself, he could minimize the danger as much as possible!
“Fine!”
Worried that Tricia might not be able to hear him, Yang Yi gave her an OK gesture.
Although the other party had no idea what “OK” meant, she still understood the meaning of the gesture, demonstrating that she possessed quite a high level of intelligence.
Yang Yi took the opportunity to pull out the Crew Registration Card that he had been keeping for a long time.
He had known how to use this card for quite some time.
It was a one-time-use skill that could register a native as a crew member, granting them partial system privileges.
It was essentially like giving a native their own system, but this action came with certain risks.
If the native refused, the player would face a disaster and would have to kill that native before their Exposure Level reached 100%.
The time limit was roughly three minutes.
Someone on the player forums had tested it before, using the Crew Registration Card he had drawn.
After killing the native, the Crew Registration Card in his possession was considered wasted as well.
Fortunately, he hadn’t been greedy and hadn’t used it on an especially powerful native. Otherwise, he probably would have lost his life too.
If the native agreed, however, there would be no unexpected consequences.
The native would join the player faction and receive a simplified version of the system. They could privately message fellow crew members aboard the same ship, access an attribute panel, and follow more or less the same rules as the players.
Yang Yi used the Crew Registration Card, designated Tricia as the target, and consumed the item.
The card disappeared immediately.
Tricia, however, showed no reaction at all, seemingly unable to see the card in the first place.
Yang Yi closely monitored his Exposure Level.
If his Exposure Level suddenly surged, he would immediately crush Tricia in his hand and feed her to the Mouth of Gluttony. The entire process would probably take no more than three seconds.
Fortunately, nothing unexpected happened.
Tricia revealed a look of surprise, as though she had just seen something she had never encountered before.
Then Yang Yi received a system notification.
[Tricia has become a crew member of the Nightmare Star. Please assign her privileges in a timely manner.]
Yang Yi opened the crew interface.
There was now one additional member.
It was none other than Tricia.
Unlike Suna, Tricia’s interface was displayed to the player in full.
Her privileges were one level lower, placing her below ordinary players.
“You recruited that Light Fairy as a crew member?”
Suna sent him a message because she had received the notification as well.
