Chapter 667: Encounter
Chapter 667: Encounter
While everyone who won something at the auction waited for their purchase to be delivered to the lounge, Jason inspected everyone with the Emperor Eyes.
He had already done so beforehand, but somehow he felt that he should take a good look again, nonetheless.
This time, Jason looked at everyone carefully, trying to pick up even the most subtle traits hidden inside the powerhouses’ bodies.
Meanwhile, Jennifer was soon occupied as two female powerhouses approached her to speak about something important.
Thus, he was simply standing by himself, without anyone else next to him.
Most people would feel uncomfortable in a room full of powerhouses, without anyone next to them for moral support, but Jason didn’t even notice that Jennifer had left his side.
His focus was trained on evaluating others so he barely realised that two people had suddenly appeared next to him.
Those two looked at each other in confusion, realising that they had approached Jason with the same intention, only to nod to each other as if they were acquaintances.
Now that they were in front of him it would be awkward to walk away, so they simply stared straight at Jason.
“Do you like what you see?” the young woman suddenly asked, dragging Jason out of his fully focused inspection.
Trying to remain calm, he turned towards the young woman, only to squint his eyes.
‘Do I know her? I don’t think so…’
Seeing his confused expression, the calm woman answered his unspoken question.
“I’m Miranda Parin, and I asked if you like what you are seeing!”
He had already heard her correctly the first time she had asked this question, but Jason was not sure what he was supposed to answer.
She could mean multiple things, such as the fact that his eyes were unique.
However, instead of going that way, he shrugged his shoulders and asked her in a clear voice.
“Yes, I do! But why are you asking?”
When Miranda had asked him this question, his eyes had automatically flitted in Jennifer’s direction and the two female powerhouses she was talking to.
With Jennifer’s back facing him, Jason decided to answer the foolish question in the exact same way.
Miranda didn’t expect such an answer because she wanted to hint at Jason’s golden eyes that glowed brightly.
Unfortunately, her plan backfired, and it caused even the young Aeus, who was standing opposite her, to laugh out loud.
His nonchalant expression soured, and when he had regained his composure, the young Aeus turned towards Jason as he introduced himself.
“My name is Leo Nard, nice meeting you!”
Extending his hand, Jason didn’t think long before he shook it, which was frowned at by both Miranda and Leo.
“Nice meeting you Leo, my name is Jason Stella!”
After the brief introduction, he wanted to let go of Leo’s hand, only to sense that the young Aeus was still holding his hand in a firm grasp.
This caused him to look at Leo, whose expressions changed in an instant. In a lowkey voice, he heard Leo growl at him,
“How dare you touch my hand with your filthy hands!!”
When Jason heard this, he almost instinctively shouted ‘You are the one holding me!!’ but he remained silent, thinking that he might have done something stupid.
The sudden change in Leo’s demeanor and expression caused Jason to raise his right eyebrow, making him wonder what was going on as a sudden transmitted thought emerged in his mind.
[If you didn’t know, Leo is a noble of the Aeus race. You were supposed to kiss his hand, not shake it…
Well, he is a little bit difficult…and he thinks Manyrs are unworthy of him, even the prodigies…
Either endure the treatment or if you are special, prove it to him! In that case, he will probably accept the handshake because it was made between equal parties!]
The voice transmission came from Miranda, and Jason could only look at her in confusion as he sensed how Leo was increasing the pressure around his arm as if he wanted to break it.
From the looks of it, Leo wanted to make him suffer by slowly increasing the pressure on his hand, squashing it as a final result.
This wouldn’t be a problem for a being at the Ascendion stage to do to Jason, a mere existence at the Mid ranks of the Lique stage!
Because of that, he followed Miranda’s advice and quickly revealed his Celestia aura in order to show that he was not a common human.
Yet, just at that moment, he got a glimpse of Leo’s eyes, which caused Jason to halt. He simply stared at him for a moment, to be sure if his mind was playing tricks with him as he thought
‘You are just trying to intimidate me right now? Just because I look weak…are you serious?!?’
When Jason realised what Leo was doing, he averted his gaze and stared staring straight into Miranda’s eyes, only to see that she was not worried at all.
Rather, a tinge of excitement could be seen within her eyes, which was similar to Leo’s.
This made it clear that they were working together.
‘Do they think I’m a pushover, or are they expecting to find out that the exact opposite is the case?!
There were certain things Jason hated, and amongst the most loathed were two particular behaviors of powerhouses or prodigies.
The first thing he hated was to see the strong treat their subordinates, and weak citizens as if they were mere tools, devoid of self-worth, free will, or permission to do anything except the things the powerhouses allowed them to do.
As for the second behavior he loathed, it was simple, yet something Jason had witnessed way too often on Argos.
It was to be treated as a pushover and be played around by the strong that had backings and great talent, thinking that they could do however they pleased just because of their uniqueness.
Both might sound similar, but there was a specific difference in them, able to be figured out by everyone, who understood what small detail it was to be enslaved and to have a different, a better starting point than others.
During the last few months, his life had been easy without anyone trying to suppress him, and he had almost forgotten how it felt to be played around by others.
However, experiencing how it was to be on the weaker side once again, Jason’s entire being retaliated, rejecting the act of the two prodigies in front of him.
Recalling the humiliating scenes on Argos where he had been forced to step back, to submit to others, where his family and friends had been forced into enslavement just because they had yet to be nurtured into powerhouses, anger surged up from the depths of his conscience as his eyes turned ice-cold.
Staring straight into Leo’s eyes, who maintained his steady gaze, Jason didn’t even do much as he spoke in a seemingly quiet, yet authoritative tone.
“Let go!”
The moment Jason said this, the seals within the depth of his conscience shrieked, trying to break out, to be unleashed, and give Jason enough strength, allowing him to overpower the foe he was facing.
Tremendous energy waves surged through Jason as one of the minor seals that had already sustained cracks from previous encounters broke apart.
It was only then that Miranda noticed something which caused her eyes to widen as she shouted,
“Wait, stop!!”
However, it was already too late because Jason just released his entire Celestia aura at once, filling the entire lounge, as a bright golden light permeated through it while the outline of his pupils turned crimson in anger.
Never, ever would he allow someone else to play around with him just because they were stronger.
The period in which he had accepted this had long since passed, and shall never return!
