Global Survival: I Have Endless Skeletons
Chapter 652: The Alpha Join The Battle.
Across the trenches, similar scenes were unfolding everywhere.
One after another, the undead took down the Pressurefang Wolves. The pack, which had numbered more than fifty when the battle began, was shrinking at a visible rate.
Every attempt to surround the undead resulted in another wolf being struck down. As for the wolves that proved smarter and tried to exploit gaps in the undead formation.
Most times, they often found themselves facing a second undead waiting nearby.
The wolves were gradually losing the advantage. Their speed might be impressive, and their fangs could still tear through undead flesh, but that was not enough to overcome the sheer number of powerful undead fighting against them.
Worse, the Soul Lantern of Eternal Crypt continued illuminating the battlefield, preventing them from disappearing into the darkness and launching the silent ambushes that had made them so dangerous in the first place.
Now, the narrow trench had become a battlefield of blood, broken bodies, and scattered stones.
The thick stench of blood filled the air, mixing with the damp smell. Howls echoed from one corner to another, sometimes ending abruptly.
As for Thoren, he remained at the back of his mount, watching the battle with his usual calm expression.
The battle had played out according to his plan. Against the immortality and fearlessly of his undead, he had nothing to worry about.
The Pressurefang Wolves were formidable but not enough to withstand the continuous onslaught of the undead legion.
Even when their flesh was ripped open and their limbs were nearly severed, they continued fighting as long as their bodies remained functional.
Brutal.
Merciless.
Fearless.
The undead possessed them all. And more importantly, all the undead were using powerful equipment and armor. This alone further increased their edge against the ferocious wolves that depended solely on their fangs and speed.
And now, the wolves were discovering just how terribly unlucky they were to confront such an enemy.
An ordinary beast might withdraw after suffering serious injuries, especially when confronted by enemies that refused to show fear.
The Pressurefang Wolves, however, were predators accustomed to ruling the darkness. The area around the 20 kilometer radius was their domain.
In this region, their confidence had been built upon countless successful hunts. Retreat had never appeared in their DNA.
They were the apex predator and they wouldn’t surrender until their prey were all dead.
At the edge of the battlefield, standing upon a small rocky hill overlooking the trenches, the Alpha watched the slaughter unfold.
Unlike the ordinary wolves fighting below, it possessed a much larger body, dense gray fur, and a pair of sharp eyes that reflected the pale light of the Soul Lantern.
Its muscular limbs remained firmly planted on the rocky surface, while its ears occasionally twitched in response to the continuous sounds of battle.
It was an Elite Pressurefang Wolf at Level 45, the strongest member of the pack. From its elevated position, it could clearly observe the situation below.
It watched as the members of its pack were being slaughtered at visible speed. Their enemies proved more troublesome than intended.
The Alpha’s ears lowered slightly and for the first time since the battle began, its expression changed.
Its instinct flared, all the fur on its body stood on end. It sensed death but as the leader of the apex predator of the region, it refused to call for retreat.
Then the Alpha raised its head and released a powerful howl.
The sound reverberated throughout the trenches, rising above the clash of weapons and the dying cries of the wolves.
Most of the wolf pack immediately reacted to the call, turning their heads toward the sky and howling in response.
Instantly, all the wolves went berserk, throwing themselves at the enemies without the care about their lives.
Bang! Bang!
Undead were sent flying.
Chunks of flesh were ripped apart from their body.
Wolves sent flying crashing into the trench wall.
The battle had reached its crescendo with both sides not caring about their lives.
On the rocky hill, the Alpha wolf muscular body lowered slightly, and its powerful legs gathered beneath it.
Whoosh!
The Alpha wolf finally joined the battle, moving at an extreme speed that left little time for the undead to react.
Its gray body shot through the battlefield like an arrow, crossing the distance between the rocky hill and the fighting undead in the blink of an eye.
Before the nearest undead could adjust their positions, the Alpha had already reached the three undead Scorpion Commanders.
Its claws flashed repeatedly as it struck one after another, delivering three powerful blows in quick succession.
The first undead Scorpion Commander was sent stumbling backward before the next attack caught the second, launching it into the air.
The third attempted to raise its weapon to defend itself, but the Alpha’s final strike landed before it could complete the movement.
All three undead Scorpion Commanders were sent flying in different directions, their bodies crashing heavily against the rocky ground and trench walls.
The Alpha wolf did not remain in place to admire its work.
Its powerful legs pushed against the ground as it changed direction, moving toward another undead.
In the next moment, it appeared before the undead Elite Jackal Beastmen.
The undead Elite Jackal Beastmen reacted quickly, raising its massive spiked club and swinging it toward the incoming enemy.
The weapon descended with enough force to crush an ordinary beast, but the Alpha wolf displayed astonishing agility.
It twisted its body and slipped past the attack, allowing the heavy club to smash into the ground beside it.
Before the undead Elite Jackal Beastmen could recover from the missed strike, the Alpha had already moved into its blind spot.
It swept its claws forward.
Bang!
The impact struck the undead Jackal Beastmen with tremendous force, sending its massive body flying into the distance.
It crashed heavily into the trench wall.
The Alpha landed steadily on all four limbs, its gray eyes immediately searching for the next target.
Its movements were swift and precise, and unlike the ordinary wolves.
Thoren, however, was not surprised by the involvement of the wolf Alpha. He already considered it and planned ahead.
He immediately issued a command.
The five undead Thunderhide Rhinos turned toward the Alpha wolf and began advancing from different directions, preparing to trap it.
At the same time, he commanded the undead Skybreaker Roc to target the wolf Alpha.
