Chapter 385: The Plain of Falling Blood
Chapter 385: The Plain of Falling Blood
Deep in the Crimson Dunes, rocks hundreds of meters high could be seen everywhere. This place was different from the usual dunes.
The ground was desolate.
Stones and pebbles that looked like they had just come out from fresh blood could be seen everywhere. The ground pulsated continuously like a living beast.
From the ground, steam rose continuously. And every now and then, the ground would tremble as if a massive creature was passing by, but the bizarre thing was that nothing was visible to the eyes.
Nothing could be seen for thousands of miles except rocks of various shapes. Some resembled dangerous beasts. Some resembled the combination of beasts and humanoids.
While some looked like humans.
Many believed the Crimson Dunes were nothing but endless dunes, but here, that reality was broken.
Looking up in the sky, the three bloody moons seemed to draw closer to the ground. Merely looking at them, it was as if they could be plucked with a hand.
But if one looked carefully, the air was twisted inside out as if a strange power was trying to bend the reality of the world.
Every now and then, crimson stones and pebbles fell out of thin air. Fresh bloody liquid dripped out of their bodies.
This scene could be seen in every part of the strange plain.
The silence here was different from ordinary silence.
It was heavy.
It was suffocating.
It felt as if the world itself was holding its breath beneath the three bloody moons.
Even the wind did not move normally.
It curled around the rocks, carrying a faint metallic smell that made the throat dry and the heart uneasy.
Yet, among the strange plain, two figures could be seen walking out from beneath a massive rock. They were covered in cloaks etched with strange runes pulsating under strange power.
"Have you received any message from Feir?" one of them asked in a low, strange voice.
The second figure shook his head. "I have not received any message from him."
For a moment, the duo did not speak. Each was lost in their thoughts.
"This is not good." Finally, the first figure broke the silence. "Mantis Town is already defeated, so why is it taking him so long? I hope he is not being greedy and trying to take all the sacrifices for himself."
"If that was the case, I would not be worried, but the Holy Son will soon return."
At the mention of the Holy Son, a strange atmosphere descended among the duo for a moment before the second figure continued.
"Let us hope he does not stop the guild’s plan."
The first figure lowered his head slightly, and the runes on his cloak pulsed faintly.
The name of the Holy Son carried a weight that even they did not dare treat lightly.
Within the Slave Trade Guild, the Holy Son was not merely a title.
He was an authority.
He was fear.
He was the blade that could cut through anyone that dared to act against the hidden plan.
If Feir had truly become greedy and ruined the arrangement, then the punishment would not be simple.
"If there is still no message before dawn, we move," the first figure said in a low voice.
The second figure nodded slowly.
Unknown to them, Feir, known as the Young Lord, was long dead and was now nothing but an undead servant under the Grim Reaper.
And while they worried about greed, delay, and punishment, the real danger had already swallowed the pieces they thought were still moving on their board.

[Horn Lizard Town.]
Compared to Mantis Town, Horn Lizard Town was three times as big, with many humans walking on the street.
The Horn Lizard Town could be said to be the center of all human activities on the Crimson Dunes.
No human force could dare claim authority over the town.
The Scorpion Clan might be the overlord of the Crimson Dunes, but the Horn Lizard Clan was right on their heels. With their unrivaled might, they took control of the town.
More importantly, since they were antagonistic to the Scorpion Clan’s reign, it harbored many human parties. Among the human forces was the Silver Crest Guild.
The Silver Crest Guild might not control Horn Lizard Town, but their influence among the human factions was second to none.
The Silver Crest Guild controlled one village under the rule of the Horn Lizard Clan.
That was right, the Horn Lizard Clan and the Scorpion Clan had smaller villages around them that were as big as the town at the Scorched Outskirts.
To many, the villages were even called smaller towns.
And for the Silver Crest Guild to control the village, it showed their power and influence.
The streets of Horn Lizard Town were far livelier than Mantis Town.
Awakeners bargained loudly beside stalls.
Horn Lizard Beastmen with thick, rough scales and sharp horns walked through the crowd with calm authority.
Humans moved aside for them instinctively, but there was not much resentment in their eyes.
Compared to the Scorpion Men, the Horn Lizard Clan was easier for humans to tolerate.
They were proud, strict, and powerful, but they were not fond of meaningless slaughter.
That alone made Horn Lizard Town a gathering place for many human guilds that wanted protection from the Scorpion Clan’s shadow.
On the bustling street of Horn Lizard Town, a three story building towered over the surroundings. This was the headquarters of the Silver Crest Guild.
On the top floor, a hot debate was going on among the upper echelon of the guild.
"What is going on?" a stoic man with a deep scar across his face asked in a deep voice. His eyes roamed the room, looking at everyone’s faces.
"Is the rumor true?" he asked.
For a moment, no one responded as they focused their gazes on the woman seated at the main seat. She was the vice guild master.
With Garron not available, she was the highest authority.
Feeling all the gazes on her, Neris’s expression did not falter. She opened her mouth slowly and began.
"Rumor or not, we need to confirm the news."
Listening to her, everyone inside the room frowned. They expected their vice guild master to debunk the rumor, but her response showed the rumor might be true.
As if reading their minds, she continued, "I did not say the rumor is true. But before we reach any conclusion, we need to confirm the news as soon as possible."
"This is a sensitive period. We must not act rashly," she continued.
It was as if the disappearance of her Guild Master did not trouble her.
"Send our spies to keep tabs on the Scorpion Clan’s movement. Also, send our men to keep eyes on those spreading the news. If we can find the source of the rumor, we can easily find out everything."
"Let me remind everyone here." Her gaze turned deadly sharp. "All our past efforts are about to bear fruit. We must not let rumors about the Guild Master jeopardize it."
"If we miss this chance, then you can forget about leaving this floor."
