Global Survival: I Have Endless Skeletons

Chapter 375: The Undead Kaien

Chapter 375: The Undead Kaien

[Earlier]

Receiving the order from Garron, Kaien moved through the undead beasts with extreme speed and agility.

His stealth ability blended him perfectly with the surroundings. Under the cloak, his brown eyes were sharp like an eagle searching for his prey.

’Where the hell is he hiding?’ he screamed in his mind as he was getting impatient.

The miserable screams of his guild members echoed continuously in his ears.

Every scream made his expression colder.

Every dying cry reminded him that the Silver Crest Guild was being crushed faster than he expected.

The undead beasts were not attacking like ordinary monsters.

They were pressing, surrounding, and guiding the battlefield as if someone was controlling every movement from above.

Suddenly, from the corner of his eyes, he saw a figure standing on a dune, watching the battlefield like a spectator.

’Found you.’ A sharp glint flashed through his eyes as he bolted toward the figure’s direction.

Meanwhile, Thoren watched the battle without any change in his expression. From the battle, he could tell the Silver Crest Guild members were a lot stronger than the Crimson Arc Guild.

There were many ranged attackers among them. More importantly, their warriors and swordsmen’s attacking power was a lot greater.

Their formations were also more disciplined.

Even while surrounded by undead Dune Scorpions, many of them still fought with practiced movements.

If they had faced an ordinary beast tide, they might have truly broken through with Garron leading them.

Unfortunately, they were not facing ordinary beasts.

Suddenly, he shifted his gaze to a particular section of the battlefield.

"Interesting..." he mused, and a faint smile appeared at the corner of his lips.

He shifted his gaze back to the battlefield, acting as if he did not detect anything.

The battle raged on. The Silver Crest Guild members were dying continuously under the undead beasts’ slaughter.

Suddenly, a figure appeared behind Thoren with his dagger drawn. Without making a sound, he went for the kill.

[Awakened Soul]

Before Kaien could realize what was going on, his soul trembled vehemently, and his muscles stiffened.

’T-This!’

’What is this?’

Alarm rang in his mind.

His instinct screamed of impending danger, and all the hair on his body stood on end.

Even without his instinct screaming, the suffocating aura was enough to tell him he had kicked an iron wall.

What he thought was easy prey was nothing but a tiger in sheep’s clothing.

’I need to flee!’ he screamed in his mind, but his body refused to obey his command.

His breathing became heavy.

Veins protruded on his forehead.

His legs trembled as if they were going to turn to jelly.

When Thoren first unlocked the Awakened Soul, it was already powerful, and with each strength increase, the Awakened Soul was growing stronger.

Any ordinary soul could not withstand its full pressure.

And now, Kaien was under such an overwhelming aura. In a matter of seconds, his back was already drenched in cold sweat.

His dagger remained frozen inches away from Thoren’s back.

That small distance became like a chasm he could never cross.

For the first time since becoming an Assassin, Kaien understood what it meant to be completely helpless before a target.

Slowly, Thoren turned and smiled at him.

But to Kaien, it was no ordinary smile.

It was a deathly smile.

Thud! Thud!

Suddenly, Kaien heard heavy footsteps coming from his side. He knew it was nothing good. He desperately wished to turn his head to see, but the force held him in place.

But he did not have to wait for too long.

The figure appeared before him.

The undead Guild Captain.

Staring into its deep, hollow, eerie eyes, Kaien felt ants crawl throughout his body.

’I am doomed,’ he cried in his heart.

Indeed, he was doomed the moment he targeted Thoren. Without any fanfare, the undead Guild Captain reached out its hand to Kaien’s head and grabbed it.

Crack!

The sound of bone breaking echoed in the still atmosphere, and Kaien’s neck twisted in the opposite direction.

Dead.

His body fell to the ground like a dead log.

From beginning to end, he did not even have the chance to display his real strength. His Assassin skill that he depended on was nothing but a joke before Thoren.

With his strong perception and overpowering Awakened Soul, it was impossible for anyone to sneak up on him without him detecting them.

[Undead Summoning]

[Bone Manipulation]

The dead Kaien slowly rose back to his feet, and his twisted neck slowly returned to its original position.

The broken bones cracked and shifted beneath his skin.

His dull eyes opened once again, but the life inside them was gone and was replaced with the eerily soul fire.

Looking at its figure, Thoren nodded with a pleased expression. His target was originally the Silver Crest Guild Leader, but now, he would add Kaien to his undead elite legion.

A Level 35 Assassin was not weak.

His stealth, speed, and killing instinct were useful.

In the hands of Garron, Kaien had been a blade controlled by fear.

In Thoren’s hands, he would become a blade without hesitation, without betrayal, and without weakness.

He turned and pointed in the direction of Garron and commanded.

’Kill.’

Whoosh!

The undead Kaien vanished from its spot, rushing forward to complete his master’s command.

...

....

[Present]

With blood gushing out of his mouth continuously, Garron stared at the undead Kaien with horror written all over his face.

Never in his wildest dreams did he think his trusted aide would betray him.

Unknown to him, the real Kaien was long gone, and now, the undead Kaien was merely fulfilling the order of his master.

Whoosh!

Watching the undead Kaien rushing toward him, Garron panicked and tried to retreat. He was unwilling to die helplessly on the second floor.

His goal was to see the higher floors and return victoriously to the surface.

But now...

Now, death was beckoning.

"Help!"

"Someone help me!" he screamed at the top of his lungs.

Right now, he desperately needed one of his guild members to save him. Unfortunately, the few remaining were desperately trying to keep their dear lives.

No one even had the heart to care about their cruel guild master when their own deaths were already standing before them.

Whoosh!

He barely retreated a couple of steps when undead Kaien appeared before him. He agilely avoided his clumsy attack and stabbed his heart once again.

"Y-You..." Garron held the blade lodged deep into his heart for a second before he fell to the ground.

Dead.

His massive butcher knife slipped from his hand and landed on the sand with a dull thud.

The terrifying Guild Master of the Silver Crest Guild, the man who had sent many weaker awakeners to their deaths for offending him, now lay on the ground like every other corpse.

He died without even understanding when the person he trusted had already become an undead blade.

[Undead Summoning]

A few seconds later, the fallen Garron was back on his feet.

The two undead stared at each other for a second and turned their heads to look at the few remaining living humans.

Whoosh!

And then, they charged forward.
