  1. Notebook

Behind the laboratory building was an empty lot where almost no one ever passed by. On the other side of the empty lot was a closed-off wall.

There was not a single person in the empty lot. Lin Ye was just about to turn and leave when he saw several students closing in from behind.

That female student stood at the very back. The scene was a bit like a honey trap.

"I heard you saw a corpse in the toilet."

Zhao Jie raised both hands to show they meant no harm.

"...I'm not sure either. I had just woken up at the time, and that corpse looked too strange."

Lin Ye observed these students. They seemed to know something about the corpse.

"That wasn't an illusion. Every one of us here has seen corpses."

Su Yue took a step forward, looking at Lin Ye with utter seriousness.

"...You've all been to the men's toilet too?"

Lin Ye looked at Su Yue with a strange expression.

"I haven't! We all saw corpses in different places!"

Su Yue's cheeks flushed red as she immediately retorted.

"This school is filled with students who died tragically, but the corpses disappear very quickly. Only those of us who've seen the corpses remember them. Those dead were all our classmates. Who knows, one day it might be our turn."

Zhao Jie spoke in a heavy tone.

"Do you still remember the locations and conditions of those corpses? The one I saw had many strange wounds on its body."

Lin Ye suddenly spoke up.

But he received no response. All the students were staring at his body in terror.

A wound appeared out of thin air on the surface of Lin Ye's body, running through him.

[Remaining Simulation Attempts: 9]

Lin Ye opened his eyes. He was back on his dorm bed.

'What's going on? Was it because of that question? Someone doesn't want me to obtain that information.'

Lin Ye thought as he repeated the actions of his last simulation. He needed to make contact with those students to gather information about this place.

After evening classes let out, Lin Ye once again came to the back of the laboratory building. This time, however, he didn't ask about the corpses.

"Have you found anything? And what's going on with the Infirmary?"

Lin Ye tried a relatively safer question.

"Apart from the corpses, we haven't found anything. About the Infirmary, one of our companions wanted to tell Teacher Wang about it, but he disappeared. It might have something to do with that Teacher Wang."

Zhao Jie explained the hint from the earlier strip of paper.

"...What do you plan to do next?"

Lin Ye was currently just an ordinary student. The enemy possessed power they could not resist. Next, he might need these students' help.

"We think Teacher Wang definitely knows what's happening here. We're planning to capture Teacher Wang and interrogate her about those corpses."

They had long since formulated an action plan. Recruiting Lin Ye was just an unexpected development.

"Are you sure? If that Teacher Wang can make students disappear, how are we supposed to capture her?"

Lin Ye felt this plan was a bit unreliable.

"Then what do you suggest?"

Zhao Jie actually also felt this plan was very prone to problems.

"We can first organize what information we already have, then send someone to the Infirmary to gather intelligence."

Lin Ye rephrased it. It seemed that as long as he didn't reveal his interest in the locations where those corpses appeared, he wouldn't suffer that fatal attack.

"Easier said than done. Who's going to the Infirmary? The last student who entered the Infirmary already disappeared."

A student beside them spoke up.

"I'll go. But before I do, you need to give me a copy of all the information you've gathered so far."

Lin Ye had already planned to visit the Infirmary tonight. That Teacher Wang was highly suspicious.

"This is the notebook I've organized. It records all the information we've collected."

Su Yue handed Lin Ye a somewhat worn notebook.

Lin Ye took the notebook and began examining the information inside.

"Let's disband for now. When it's time to act, I'll notify the others."

If not for wanting to move against Teacher Wang, Zhao Jie wouldn't have wanted to gather everyone together at all.

"Alright, I'll go to the Infirmary tonight. If anything comes up, you can notify me."

The students scattered and left. Lin Ye took the notebook and headed to the Cafeteria. He hadn't eaten dinner yet and was extremely hungry now.

Zhao Jie and Su Yue walked with him toward the Cafeteria. They were also boarding students.

Lin Ye examined the notebook's contents as he walked. Most of the students had already left by now, so there was no need to worry about being seen.

"Did you find anything?"

Su Yue didn't understand why Lin Ye wanted this information. This notebook was something a senior student had left behind. They had merely added their own experiences to it. That senior had already disappeared.

"Mm, I've found some things. This notebook is very important. Good thing you recorded all the information in it."

Lin Ye already had some ideas, but he couldn't voice them yet.

The Cafeteria's bulk dishes had mostly been eaten already. Lin Ye ordered a stir-fried dish and a staple food. He could pay for the meal by card.

Zhao Jie and Su Yue also ordered stir-fried dishes. The three of them put their dishes together so they could eat three stir-fried dishes.

"Why are you only coming to eat now? Wait for me, I'll join you."

Teacher Wang coincidentally walked into the Cafeteria. She also ordered a stir-fried dish and then sat at their table to eat dinner.

Lin Ye had already put away the notebook. He didn't think she would happen to enter the Cafeteria at this exact time.

"Teacher, you're only eating this little for dinner?"

Su Yue moved closer to Teacher Wang, wearing a friendly smile.

"I've been dieting lately. You're all at the age where you're still growing, so don't follow my example."

Teacher Wang didn't move away. Instead, she affectionately wrapped her arm around Su Yue's shoulder.

"Teacher, your figure is already good enough."

Su Yue secretly passed Lin Ye a key ring from under the dining table. It had the key to open the Infirmary.

Lin Ye took the key ring and finished his dinner in a few bites.

"I'll head back to study first. Take your time eating."

Lin Ye did need the key to open the Infirmary. He was currently a student and shouldn't have learned lock-picking techniques like this.

Teacher Wang said nothing and watched Lin Ye leave the Cafeteria.

Lin Ye didn't rush to the Infirmary. He first took a lap around the school before walking to the Infirmary door.

The sky was gradually darkening. The inside of the Infirmary was pitch black. Lin Ye used the key to open the Infirmary's large door and took a look inside.

This was a not particularly spacious Infirmary: a diagnostic bed surrounded by curtains, a medicine cabinet, and Teacher Wang sitting behind the office desk.

"Teacher, I picked up your key ring while taking a walk on the Sports Field. I originally just wanted to put the keys inside the Infirmary. I didn't expect you still hadn't gone home this late."

Lin Ye casually made up an excuse. The excuse sounded obviously fake, but it barely made sense.
