Chapter 111: Chapter 110: Ryze’s Surrender

Moreover, the "siege" effect meant that for normal combat, this hammer could only be used against structures.

At this stage, ordinary shelter managers couldn’t possibly equip their subordinates with multiple pieces of blue-rarity weaponry.

As far as Ye Yun knew, the vast majority of managers’ subordinates were still armed primarily with green-rarity weapons. Only one or two elite members might have access to blue equipment.

Equipping them with two different sets of blue weapons to handle various situations was practically impossible.

But for Ye Yun, this wasn’t much of a problem.

An un-upgraded Shelter Entrance had 10 Defense and 10,000 HP.

The [Siege Giant Hammer (Blue)] had an attack power of 65. When its siege effect—which increased damage to defensive structures by 100%—was triggered, its attack power shot straight up to 130.

Even after subtracting the Shelter Entrance’s 10 Defense, each strike could still inflict 120 points of damage.

Bena would only need 83 strikes to easily smash the enemy’s Shelter Entrance open.

Of course, if others helped, it would go even faster.

Bena’s team arrived near the Shelter Entrance, silent as ghosts.

He took a deep breath, then violently swung the giant hammer in his hands, smashing it down on the Shelter Entrance.

The massive hammer whistled through the air before crashing heavily against the Shelter Entrance.

A thunderous crash echoed in the night, and a deep dent immediately appeared on the Shelter Entrance.

At the same time, the others also raised their weapons and began attacking the entrance.

As Bena swung his hammer for the second time, a reaction finally came from within the shelter.

Ryze, who had just fallen asleep, shot his eyes open. The deafening crash still ringing in his ears, his face was a mask of pure shock.

He’d heard similar tremors before—they happened during attacks from large mutated creatures.

Ryze leaped from his bed, a sense of foreboding washing over him.

He knew what this sudden attack meant—someone was trying to break down his Shelter Entrance.

He rushed to the Shelter Entrance and looked through the observation window, immediately taking in the scene outside.

A man in strange gear was fiercely smashing the Shelter Entrance with a giant hammer that was half as tall as he was.

The others held various weapons as well.

Seeing the Shelter Entrance’s durability plummeting on the system display, his heart sank.

The force of the enemy’s attack far exceeded his expectations. At this rate, the Shelter Entrance wouldn’t last much longer.

He immediately composed a message on his communication bracelet, telling his deployed team to return at once.

The exploration team hadn’t gone far, so ten seconds later, a reply came through on his bracelet.

[Lord Ryze, we’re on our way back. Please hold on, we’ll be there soon.]

Ryze breathed a small sigh of relief at the reply.

He could only hope the entrance would hold out until his team returned.

But watching the durability plummet, his heart sank once more.

He immediately ordered his construction bots to start repairing the Shelter Entrance.

But even so, the Shelter Entrance’s HP was still dropping at a frantic rate of nearly 1,000 points per minute.

Despair filled Ryze’s face as he watched the numbers.

If this kept up, his Shelter Entrance would be blasted open in just ten minutes.

He immediately shouted into the loudspeaker:

"Who are you people?!"

"We have no grudge against you! Why are you attacking my shelter?"

However, Bena turned a deaf ear to his questions, the Siege Giant Hammer in his hands continuing to strike the entrance, blow after heavy blow.

Each heavy blow felt like a hammer striking his own heart.

The exploration team had been out for more than two hours. Even if they returned at full speed, it would take them at least another hour.

By the time they got back, it would be all over.

But no matter how hard Ryze racked his brain, he couldn’t think of a solution.

’Why did I send everyone out? Why didn’t I leave a single person behind in the shelter?’ he thought, filled with immense regret.

All of his powerful equipment was with the exploration team. At this moment, even if he wanted to fight back, he was completely helpless.

In desperation, he opened the public chat room.

[Which goddamn bastard sent people to attack my shelter?!]

[I swear I haven’t pissed anyone off in the last 20-some days! Why are you suddenly attacking my shelter!]

[We’ve all survived two crises, so everyone has the coordinates for at least two abandoned shelters!]

[Even if you want to open a second shelter, you could just go to one of those abandoned ones! Why attack mine?]

[We’re all human! We’re all stranded in this terrifying wasteland, so why can’t we help each other instead of attacking one another?!]

[I know you can see this!]

[Show yourself!!! Come on out!! Why are you attacking me!]

Even though it was late at night, the public chat room was still full of night owls.

His furious rant immediately caught the attention of many other managers.

[Whoa, dude, are you being attacked by another manager?]

[That sucks. Your luck is terrible.]

[Seems like a lot of people have been getting attacked by other managers these past couple of days, huh?]

[I’m telling you, those guys are sick in the head. Why attack someone else? Can’t they just go occupy one of the abandoned shelters?]

[Didn’t someone say before that repairing an abandoned shelter is super expensive? That normal people can’t afford it?]

[Yeah, I think I saw that. Apparently, it takes a full 30 blue components to fix one. You could buy three pieces of blue equipment with that!]

Ryze’s eyes frantically scanned the chat room for useful information, but while plenty of managers were talking, not a single comment was helpful.

Seeing the Shelter Entrance’s HP drop to just 30%, Ryze grew even more desperate.

[I’m begging you, tell your people to stop!]

[Don’t kill me! I’ll hand over all the resources in my shelter!]

[I’m willing to form an alliance with you!]

[No, no, no, I’ll submit to you!!! I’m willing to obey your every command!!! From now on, I’ll do whatever you say!!!]

...

「In the main shelter.」

Ye Yun, of course, was not asleep.

He frowned, reading the messages in the public chat room as he fell into thought.

’To be honest, there’s no deep-seated hatred between us.’

’He really hasn’t done anything to offend me. The only reason I’m attacking is to eliminate a potential threat.’

’But...’

’If I don’t eliminate him now, he’ll very likely become a threat to me later.’

’After all, his promises are only temporary. I have no way of controlling him.’

’No, wait. Maybe there is a way.’

Ye Yun quickly composed a message on his bracelet.
