Chapter 110: Chapter 109: Lying in Wait
[Assessment Type: Ambush]
[Assessing operational risk...]
[Assessment: 20.1% chance of white-tier item, 30.7% chance of green-tier item, 40.285% chance of blue-tier item, 9.005% chance of purple-tier item. Risk Factor: 1.113%]
Excellent. With a risk factor of only 1%, the mission was highly feasible. Ye Yun pressed the send button.
·········
「Inside the abandoned hotel.」
Upon receiving Ye Yun’s directive, Bena immediately made the corresponding arrangements for the team.
They decided to lie low in the abandoned hotel for the time being, observe the target shelter, and wait for the right moment to attack.
Although the hotel was dilapidated, it provided the necessary cover. The distance was also perfect, allowing them to monitor the enemy’s movements without being discovered.
The five of them split into two groups. While one group stood watch, the others rested inside the hotel, conserving their energy and remaining alert.
Time ticked by, second by second. They waited quietly in the hotel, like cheetahs lying in wait for their prey.
Inside the abandoned hotel, dim light streamed through shattered windows, casting patterns on the dust-covered floor. The air was thick with tension and anticipation.
Bena sat on a decrepit chair, leaning forward slightly, his eyes locked on the distant cave entrance through his binoculars.
His fingers tapped lightly on the armrest of the chair—a habit of his when he was thinking.
Zhou Mei leaned against a wall, resting with her eyes closed, but her ears were keenly attuned to every minute sound around them.
"Captain, do you think that cave entrance really leads to a shelter?"
"Should we go confirm it again??"
Number Two asked in a low voice. His eyes were also fixed on that direction, the binoculars never leaving his face.
Bena glanced at his watch. It had been nearly 24 hours since they arrived.
He hesitated for a moment, then spoke with conviction:
"We keep waiting."
Time trickled by in silence until the last rays of the setting sun vanished below the horizon and night fell.
The hotel grew even darker. Only the occasional sliver of moonlight filtering through the shattered windows provided a faint glow.
Bena and his team had a simple meal inside the hotel, replenishing their energy in preparation for the upcoming operation.
Suddenly, Number Two said in a low voice, "Captain, we’ve got movement!"
Bena quickly raised his binoculars and looked in the direction Number Two was indicating.
From the target cave entrance, a scouting party of several armed personnel emerged.
The team consisted of five people. Remembering Ye Yun’s instructions from before they set out, a smile broke out on Bena’s face.
He immediately looked at Number Four.
"Number Four, you are to tail this team from a distance. Remember, maintain a significant gap. Don’t let the enemy spot you under any circumstances."
"Your mission is to make sure they don’t suddenly turn back."
"If they do turn back toward the shelter, fire a warning shot immediately and draw as much of the enemy’s attention as you can."
Despite it being a near-suicidal mission, Number Four nodded without the slightest hesitation.
"Understood."
With that, he used the cover of night to quickly close in on the team.
Bena continued giving orders in a low voice:
"Keep watching. Monitor their movements."
As the scouting party moved away, Bena’s heart began to race.
He knew the moment they had been waiting for had finally arrived.
He immediately reported the situation to Ye Yun and requested his next orders.

「Inside the shelter.」
[Kill the enemy shelter’s administrator at the lowest possible cost.]
[Assessment Type: Decapitation Strike]
[Assessing operational risk...]
[Assessment: 20.1% chance of white-tier item, 39.7% chance of green-tier item, 40.285% chance of blue-tier item, 0.005% chance of purple-tier item. Risk Factor: 0.912%]
Seeing the risk factor was less than 1%, Ye Yun immediately issued the attack order.
·········
The moment the attack order came through to the abandoned hotel, Bena turned to the other three and said:
"Gear up. We move out in two hours."
The other three responded in unison:
"Understood!"
"Understood!"
"Understood!"
Time ticked by, and two hours passed in a flash. Bena quickly donned his Sentinel exoskeleton.
Before moving out, Bena did one last check. The scouting party showed no signs of returning. Only then did they quietly begin to make their way toward the cave entrance they had discovered the day before.
Minutes later, Bena led his team quietly out of the hotel.
The night was black as ink, the stars sparse. Their figures flickered in and out of sight under the moonlight, as if they had merged with the darkness.
Bena walked at the front, his Sentinel exoskeleton giving off a faint silvery gleam in the dark.
They followed the route they had scouted beforehand, closing in on the target cave entrance without a sound.
Bena’s heart pounded powerfully in his chest. He could feel the adrenaline coursing through him—the tension and excitement before a battle.
It had now been nearly two and a half hours since the scouting party left. Even if they were immediately alerted to an attack on the shelter, it would take them at least two hours to get back.
Recalling their last battle, which had been a clean sweep, Bena felt that two hours was more than enough time.
Bena signaled for the team to halt. He carefully observed the area around the cave entrance.
After confirming there were no sentries or traps, he gestured to his team and led the way into the cave.
Inside the entrance was a winding tunnel that sloped downward. The walls were covered in moss, making them slick with moisture.
The tunnel was dim and narrow, with only the occasional sliver of light from cracks in the ceiling providing faint illumination.
Bena and his team advanced slowly down the tunnel. Their footsteps echoed, but with conscious effort, they kept the sound to a bare minimum.
They were like ghosts in the night, closing in on their target in complete silence.
The tunnel wasn’t long. After walking for less than half a minute, Bena could already make out the somewhat familiar Shelter Entrance in the distance.
Bena took a giant hammer from his back.
[Siege Warhammer (Blue)]
[Attack: 55-65]
[Attack Speed: Slow]
[Attack Range: Melee]
[Required Attributes: Strength: 8, Stamina: 6]
[Siege: Deals +100% damage to defensive structures and -50% damage to non-defensive structures.]
[Heavy: Wielding this weapon increases stamina consumption by 50%.]
Ye Yun had picked up this warhammer on the exchange.
The hammer’s pros and cons were both extreme.
Its attribute requirements were very high, and the ’Heavy’ effect would make most administrators balk.
A 50% increase in stamina consumption meant that a Warrior who could normally fight for 10 minutes would see their combat time cut to just 5 minutes while using this hammer.
This would be a fatal flaw for most, but for Bena, who was wearing an exoskeleton, it wasn’t a major problem.
Because before the exoskeleton’s power supply was completely depleted, a 50% increase in stamina consumption would only result in an extra drain on its battery.
