Global Lords: The Undead's Mobile Fortress
Chapter 447 - 211: Establishing a New City (Part 3)
Black Knights and Skeleton Knights were not only core troops of the Undead Race but also possessed considerable intelligence, so they should have no problem managing the city. As Undead backed by the Undead Race, no one would dare to disobey them.
The most important thing was fairness. As Undead, most worldly temptations were completely useless against them. Things like beauty, money, and power held no value for Black Knights and Skeleton Knights. The only things they might care about were corpses and Soul Energy. Of course, if someone actually managed to bribe them with those two things, Li Ziyu would have to concede; that would just be damn impressive.
After the city was established, Li Ziyu once again summoned the Clan Leaders and Chieftains.
The last time he had summoned the Clan Leaders and Chieftains to discuss the matter of the green plants, they had met in the Saint Hall of the Dead. This time, Li Ziyu had them ascend the Undead Fortress directly, receiving them in the Undead Main Tower.
The Clan Leaders and Chieftains of the Tribes followed a Skeleton Undead, ascending the Undead Fortress with hearts pounding in a mixture of apprehension and excitement.
Compared to the Undead Fortress, their newly built town was nothing. The difference couldn’t be described as merely "vast"—it was the difference between heaven and earth. They had long yearned for a chance to see the immense Fortress up close, but the opportunity had never arisen. Today, that chance was here. The Master of the Undead had specifically permitted them to enter the Fortress.
On the way to the main tower, they were so dazzled they could hardly take it all in. Everything they saw felt novel. Having had contact with the Undead before, their mindset had long since changed. They no longer feared them. Thus, the various structures on the Fortress no longer inspired terror in their eyes, but fascination.
The Gargoyles posing as statues along the path to the main tower, in particular, left them marveling. By the time they reached the entrance, they were so stunned by the main tower’s grandeur that they were rendered speechless.
Merely receiving a few Clan Leaders and Chieftains from the Tribes was not an occasion that warranted throwing the main gates wide open. A crack, just wide enough to admit a few people, was sufficient.
Upon entering the main tower, they saw even more Gargoyles. Their nerves tensed. They lowered their heads, no longer daring to gawk as they had outside, and followed closely behind the Skeleton Undead guide. This was a sign of respect for the Master of the Undead.
Arriving before the White Bone Throne, the Clan Leaders and Chieftains all knelt and bowed, paying their respects to Li Ziyu.
Looking down at the kneeling Natives below, Li Ziyu spoke slowly, "Rise."
Only then did the Clan Leaders and Chieftains dare to lift their heads and look forward. The Master of the Undead sat high upon his throne, seeming to radiate a terrifying pressure (a psychological effect). Below the throne, several figures stood to the left and right: a Minotaur, a Snake-man, a Catman, and two Humans they had met before.
After a moment of thought, Li Ziyu said, "I like to be direct. I speak, you listen. Understand?"
The Chieftains and Clan Leaders hastily agreed. If not for this new city, they wouldn’t even have the right to see the Master of the Undead, let alone receive his direct orders. The disparity in their status was simply too immense.
Li Ziyu nodded in satisfaction and said slowly, "The city is established and needs a name. I shall call it Undead One. I have assigned a Black Knight and a Skeleton Knight to manage it. You will obey their commands, manage your own people, and ensure they don’t cause trouble. You will all be living in one city now; you are one community."
The Chieftains and Clan Leaders glanced at one another and nodded in agreement once more. The Master of the Undead was establishing the rules. They didn’t resent it; after all, it was for their own good. No one wanted to spend their days fighting and stirring up conflict. Everyone wanted a better life. With the Undead acting as a neutral third party, their intervention was a good thing.
Next, Li Ziyu brought up the Soul Base Station. The area around it was strictly off-limits, but two other structures, the Prayer Cemetery and the Saint Hall of the Dead, were open for the city’s residents to come and go as they pleased...
Li Ziyu patiently explained all his plans for the new city of Undead One, and the Chieftains and Clan Leaders listened with dutiful attention.
