Global Lords: The Undead's Mobile Fortress
Chapter 444 - 210: Let’s Build a City
The Undead Fortress made its way toward the Central Wilderness. While Li Ziyu was in the Desolate Land of Death, he had been in frequent contact with Zhang Peng. The Soul Base Station also allowed him to monitor the movements of the Tribes in the Wasteland.
He knew that the area around a Soul Base Station in the central region of the Wasteland was developing well. Tens of thousands of Natives had already gathered there, comprising two medium-sized Tribes and over a dozen small ones. Li Ziyu planned to go take a look, as he was very interested in this situation.
Li Ziyu also knew that a mere month was not enough to change the Natives’ perception of the Undead. Therefore, he had notified Zhang Peng and the others in advance, telling them to make preparations so as not to cause a panic when he arrived.
Upon learning that Li Ziyu was coming, Zhang Peng and the others all rushed over and notified the Natives gathered around the Soul Base Station.
When the immense form of the Undead Fortress appeared, Li Ziyu, standing atop the main tower, saw a dense crowd of figures.
"Welcome, Master of the Undead!"
"Welcome back!"
A unified, deafening shout rose from tens of thousands of Natives, soaring to the heavens.
’Tsk, I’m actually a little excited. What should I say at a time like this? Rise?’
’Forget it. They can’t hear me from up here anyway.’
’Zhang Peng probably arranged this whole show. No wonder everyone wants to be an emperor; this feeling really isn’t bad.’
Li Ziyu smiled and shook his head, signaling the Undead Fortress to move closer to the Soul Base Station. Because they had been notified in advance, a path had already been cleared for the Undead Fortress to pass.
The Fortress’s advance slowed. It crept forward and came to a steady stop beside the Soul Base Station. Liu Xingxing’s Treasure-Hunting Catman Fortress and Zhang Peng’s Gopher Fortress both moved out to connect with the Undead Fortress.
Meanwhile, the crowd slowly dispersed, returning to their Tribes. The welcoming ceremony was over; they still had to continue searching for resources to survive.
Li Ziyu stood atop the main tower, gazing at the crowd below, an indescribable, wondrous feeling in his heart. ’Power... is this power? Have these Natives become my subjects?’
"Boss!"
Just as he was lost in thought, an excited shout came from behind him. It was Liu Xingxing. Li Ziyu turned his head. Sure enough, Liu Xingxing, Zhang Peng, Tas Tuling, Mumu, and Zaliki had all arrived.
Li Ziyu looked at everyone with a smile, nodded in satisfaction, and said, "Thank you for your hard work while I was in the Desolate Land of Death. You’ve all done a great job!"
Receiving Li Ziyu’s affirmation, smiles appeared on everyone’s faces.
"Boss, what’s next?" Zhang Peng asked.
"We continue. We need to get this Wasteland in order first. If we’re going to the Central Zone, this place must be stable. We have to leave ourselves a path of retreat," Li Ziyu said seriously.
"Understood." Zhang Peng nodded in understanding.
’We’re finally going to expand our territory! I wonder what business opportunities there are in the Central Zone. Just thinking about it is a little exciting.’
Excited expressions appeared on Zhang Peng’s and Liu Xingxing’s faces. They weren’t the types to sit still, either. Having lived in this Wasteland ever since coming to the Otherworld, they had long wanted to leave and see the outside world.
Li Ziyu turned his head, looked down at the bustling tribespeople below, and suddenly said, "With so many people gathered here, are we just going to let them congregate haphazardly like this?"
His words stunned everyone for a moment. A glint flashed in Zhang Peng’s eyes as he quickly asked, "Boss, what’s your idea?"
Li Ziyu chuckled. "I plan to build a city. With the Soul Base Station as the center, we’ll establish a proper city. There are tens of thousands of people here. If we just leave them like this, it doesn’t feel right. There will be trouble."
And trouble would indeed break out.
With so many Natives from various Tribes gathered together—all with different philosophies, daily routines, and even customs—there was no shortage of chaos. Zhang Peng and the others had been acting as peacemakers this whole time, which was the only reason a major conflict hadn’t erupted.
But that was only a temporary solution. Zhang Peng and his group couldn’t stay here forever. What would happen if they left?
Surely they couldn’t just let the settlement fall apart after they left. Wouldn’t all their effort have been for nothing?
’Build a city... a city managed by the Undead. That would free them up. That’s a good idea.’
